PROGRAMMING THE REMOTE
CONTROL - VEHICLES WITH:
FLIP KEY
General Information
You can program your own remote controlto your vehicle. This procedure programsboth the engine immobilizer keycode andthe remote entry portion of the remotecontrol to your vehicle.
Only use remote controls with anintegrated mechanical key.
You must have two previouslyprogrammed coded remote controls andthe new un–programmed remote readilyaccessible. Contact an authorized dealerto have the spare remote controlprogrammed if the two previouslyprogrammed coded remote controls arenot available.
Read and understand the entire procedurebefore you begin.
Steps for Programming Your SpareRemote Control
1.Insert the first previously programmedcoded key into the ignition.
2.Switch the ignition from off to on. Keepthe ignition on for at least threeseconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
3.Switch the ignition off and remove thefirst coded key from the ignition.
4.After three seconds but within 10seconds of switching the ignition off,insert the second previously coded keyinto the ignition.
5.Switch the ignition from off to on. Keepthe ignition on for at least threeseconds, but no more than 10 seconds.
6.Switch the ignition off and remove thesecond previously programmed codedkey from the ignition.
7.After three seconds but within 10seconds of switching the ignition offand removing the previouslyprogrammed coded key, insert the newun–programmed key into the ignition.
8.Switch the ignition from off to on. Keepthe ignition on for at least six secondsuntil you hear the door locks cycle.
9.Remove the newly programmed codedkey from the ignition.
The key starts the engine if programmingis successful. You can operate the keylessremote entry system with the new remotecontrol with integrated key.
If programming was not successful, wait20 seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 8.If you are still unsuccessful, take yourvehicle to an authorized dealer.
Note:You can program a maximum of sixcoded remote controls to your vehicle.

WHAT IS KEYLESS ENTRY
The system allows you to lock and unlockyour vehicle without taking the passive keyout of your pocket or purse.
KEYLESS ENTRY LIMITATIONS
Make sure your remote control is within 3 ft(1 m) from the front door handles and thetailgate.
The system could not function if:
•The remote control remains stationaryfor about a minute.
•The vehicle battery has no charge.
•The remote control battery has nocharge.
•There is interference causing issueswith the remote control frequencies.
•The remote control is too close tometal objects or electronic devices, forexample keys or a cell phone.
KEYLESS ENTRY SETTINGS
Switching Keyless Entry On andOff
1.Switch the ignition on using an originalkey that has not been created as aMyKey.
2.Press Settings on the touchscreen.
3.Press Vehicle Settings.
4.Press Locks.
Reprogramming the UnlockingFunction
You can enable two-stage unlockingfunction allowing you to unlock only thedriver door when you touch the unlocksensor.
Press and hold both the lock and unlockbuttons on the remote control for fourseconds to disable or enable two-stageunlocking.
If you program the unlocking function sothat only the driver door unlocks, you canunlock all of the other doors from insideyour vehicle using the power door lockcontrol. You can unlock individual doorsby pulling the interior door handles onthose doors.
USING KEYLESS ENTRY
Unlocking the Doors
With your passive key within 3 ft (1 m) ofyour vehicle, touch the unlock sensor onthe back of the door handle for a briefperiod and then pull on the door handle tounlock, being careful not to touch the locksensor at the same time or pull on the doorhandle too quickly. The intelligent accesssystem requires a brief delay toauthenticate your intelligent access key.

Using the Electronic Liftgate withPassive Key (If Equipped)
With your passive key within 3 ft (1 m) ofyour vehicle, press the exterior liftgaterelease button inside of the liftgate handle.The liftgate unlocks and opens. SeeOpening the Liftgate From OutsideYour Vehicle (page 91).
Locking the Doors
With your passive key within 3 ft (1 m) ofyour vehicle, touch the outer door handlelock sensor for approximately one secondto lock, being careful not to touch theunlock sensor on the back of the doorhandle at the same time. After locking, youcan immediately pull on the door handleto confirm locking occurred withoutinadvertently unlocking.

Why does the keyless entry system notfunction?
If the system does not function it maybe limited. See Keyless EntryLimitations (page 85). If the systemstill does not function use the remotecontrol or the key blade to lock andunlock your vehicle.
Why can I not lock my vehicle?
If you electronically lock your vehiclewith a rear door or the tailgate open,the system searches for a passive keyinside your vehicle after you close thelast door. If the system detects a key,all doors unlock indicating that a keyis inside. Your vehicle locks if anotherpassive key is within the detectionrange after you close the last door.

Programming a Personal EntryCode
1.Enter the five-digit master code.
2.Press 1·2 on the keypad within fiveseconds.
3.Enter your personal five-digit code.You must do this within five secondsof completing Step 2.
4.Press 1·2 on the keypad to savepersonal code 1.
The doors lock then unlock to confirm thatprogramming was successful.
To program additional personal entrycodes, repeat Steps 1 through 3, then forStep 4:
•Press 3·4 to save personal code 2.
•Press 5·6 to save personal code 3.
•Press 7·8 to save personal code 4.
•Press 9·0 to save personal code 5.
If your vehicle comes with SYNC, you canalso program the system with a personalentry code.
Hints:
•Do not set a code that uses five of thesame number.
•Do not use five numbers in sequentialorder.
•The five-digit master code works evenif you have set your own personal code.
Erasing a Personal Code
1.Enter the five-digit master code.
2.Press and release 1·2 on the keypadwithin five seconds.
3.Press and hold 1·2 for two seconds.You must do this within five secondsof completing Step 2.
All personal codes erase and only thefive-digit master code works.
Anti-Scan Feature
The keypad goes into an anti-scan modeif you enter the wrong code seven times.This mode turns off the keypad for oneminute and the keypad lamp flashes.
The anti-scan feature turns off after:
•One minute of keypad inactivity.
•You press the unlock button on theremote control.
•You switch the ignition on.
•You unlock your vehicle using keylessentry.

Why does the keypad not accept theaccess code?
If you enter the access code too faston the keypad, the unlock functionmay not work. Slowly re-enter theaccess code.
Why does the keypad not function?
The keypad goes into an anti-scanmode if you enter a wrong code seventimes. The anti-scan mode disablesthe keypad for one minute and the redlight flashes.

Note:Be sure the third-row center headrestraint is in the lowered position beforeyou power the rear seats down. Thethird-row outermost head restraints foldautomatically when you press the foldbutton.
UNFOLDING THE SEAT BACKREST
To return the second-row seat backrest tothe original position, rotate the seatbackrest up until it latches in the uprightposition. The seat backrest clicks when itis locked into position.
To return the third-row seat backrest tothe original position, press thecorresponding control again.
Note:If the third row seat does notcompletely fold or unfold, press and holdthe seat button until the seat folds andunfolds twice.
If the power rear seat is disabled after 10minutes, you can enable the seat by:
•Opening any door.
•Pressing the unlock button on the keyfob.
•Pressing any keyless entry keypadbutton.
•Switching the ignition on.
Folding Down the Rear Seats to theLoad Floor
WARNING: To prevent possibledamage to the seat or seatbelts, makesure that the seatbelts are not fastenedbefore folding the seatback.
WARNING: Do not place cargo orany objects behind the seatback beforereturning it to the original position.
The third-row seats have obstacledetection that prevents the seats fromfolding or returning if they are obstructed.
HEATED SEATS (IF EQUIPPED)
HEATED SEAT PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Use caution when usingthe heated seat if you are unable to feelpain to your skin because of advancedage, chronic illness, diabetes, spinal cordinjury, medication, alcohol use,exhaustion or other physical conditions.The heated seat could cause burns evenat low temperatures, especially if usedfor long periods of time. Failure to followthis instruction could result in personalinjury.
WARNING: Do not poke sharpobjects into the seat cushion or seatbackrest. This could damage the heatedseat element and cause it to overheat.Failure to follow this instruction couldresult in personal injury.
WARNING: Do not place anythingon the seat that blocks the heat, forexample a seat cover or a cushion. Thiscould cause the seat to overheat. Failureto follow this instruction could result inpersonal injury.
Do not:
•Place heavy objects on the seat.
•Operate the heated seat if water or anyother liquid spills on the seat. Allow theseat to dry.

6.Press and hold the brake pedal.
7.Using the instrument cluster controlson the steering wheel, select Settings.
8.Select Neutral Tow.
9.Press and hold the OK button until aconfirmation message appears in theinformation display.
Note: If completed successfully, theinformation display shows Neutral TowEnabled Leave Transmission in Neutral.This indicates that your vehicle is safe totow with all wheels on the ground.
Note:If you do not see a confirmationmessage in the instrument cluster display,you must perform the procedure again fromthe beginning.
Note:You may hear noise as the transfercase shifts into its neutral position. This isnormal.
10.Release the brake pedal.
11.Leave the transmission in neutral (N)and switch your vehicle off bypressing the push button ignitionswitch once without pressing thebrake pedal or turning the key as fartoward the off position.
Note:Vehicles with keys do not turn to theoff position when the transmission is inneutral (N). You must leave the key in theignition when towing. Use the keyless entrykeypad or an extra set of keys to lock andunlock your vehicle.
Switching Neutral Tow Off
1.With your vehicle properly secured tothe tow vehicle, press and hold thebrake pedal and start the engine.
2.Switch your vehicle off by pressing thepush button ignition switch once orturning the key as far towards the offposition and release the brake pedal.
3.Place your vehicle in accessory modeby pressing the push button ignitionswitch once without pressing the brakepedal or by turning the ignition key tothe on position.
4.Press and hold the brake pedal.
5.Shift into park (P).
6.Release the brake pedal.
Note:If completed successfully, theinstrument cluster displays 2H and NeutralTow Disabled.
Note:You must perform the switchingneutral tow on and switching neutral towoff procedures again from the beginning ifthe indicator light and message do notdisplay.
Note:You may hear a noise as the transfercase shifts out of its neutral position. Thisis normal.
7.Apply the parking brake, thendisconnect your vehicle from the towvehicle.
8.Release the parking brake, start theengine, and shift into drive (D) to makesure the transfer case is out of theneutral tow position.
9.If the transfer case does notsuccessfully shift out of its neutralposition, set the parking brake. Haveyour vehicle checked as soon aspossible.
Resolving the Shift Delayed DriveForward Message
1.Press and hold the brake pedal.
2.Start your vehicle.
3.Shift into neutral (N).
4.With the vehicle running, shift into drive(D) and let the vehicle roll forward upto 3 ft (1 m).
