Note: If you repeatedly fold and unfold themirrors several times within one minute, thesystem may disable to protect the motorsfrom overheating. It resets to normalfunction automatically within three to fiveminutes.
You can also fold a mirror manually bypushing it toward the door window glass.After you manually adjust the mirror, youneed to reset it.
To reset the power folding mirror systemand return it to its normal function:
•Fold the mirror manually by pushing ittoward the door window glass.
•Use the power fold control to fold andunfold the mirror two or three times.The mirror makes a sound as it resets.
Heated Exterior Mirrors (If Equipped)
See Heated Exterior Mirrors (page 88).
Signal Indicator Mirrors (If Equipped)
The outer portion of the appropriate mirrorhousing blinks when you use the directionindicator.
Clearance Lamps (If Equipped)
The lower, outer part of the mirror housingslight when you switch on the headlampsor parking lamps.
Telescoping Mirrors (If Equipped)
This feature lets you extend the mirrorabout 3 in (76 mm). It is useful whentowing a trailer. You can manually pull outor push in the mirrors to the desiredposition.
PowerScope™ Power TelescopingMirrors (If Equipped)
This feature lets you position both mirrorsin or out at the same time. The control ison the door trim panel.

Engine Oil Pressure Gauge
Indicates engine oil pressure. At normaloperating temperature, the level indicatoris in the normal range. If the pressure gaugefalls below the normal range, stop yourvehicle, switch off the engine and checkthe engine oil level. Add oil if needed. If theoil level is correct, have your vehiclechecked by an authorized dealer.
Engine Coolant TemperatureGauge
WARNING: Do not remove thecoolant reservoir cap when the engine ison or the cooling system is hot. Wait 10minutes for the cooling system to cooldown. Cover the coolant reservoir capwith a thick cloth to prevent thepossibility of scalding and slowly removethe cap. Failure to follow this instructioncould result in personal injury.
Indicates engine coolant temperature. Atnormal operating temperature, the levelindicator is in the normal range. If theengine coolant temperature exceeds thenormal range, stop your vehicle as soon aspossible, switch off the engine and let theengine cool.
Fuel Gauge
The fuel gauge indicates about how muchfuel is in the fuel tank.
The arrow adjacent to the fuel pumpsymbol indicates on which side of yourvehicle the fuel filler door is located.
Note:The fuel gauge may vary slightlywhen your vehicle is moving or on a slope.
Low Fuel Reminder
A low fuel level reminder displays andsounds when the distance to emptyreaches 50 mi (80 km),25 mi (40 km),10 mi (20 km) and 0 mi (0 km) for allvehicle keys.
Note:The low fuel reminder can appear atdifferent fuel gauge positions depending onfuel economy conditions. This variation isnormal.
Distance to Empty
Indicates the approximate distance yourvehicle can travel on the fuel remaining inthe tank. Changes in driving pattern cancause the value to not only decrease butalso increase or stay constant for periodsof time.
Configurable Gauge
Transmission Fluid Temperature Gauge
Indicates transmission fluid temperature.At normal operating temperature, the levelindicator is in the normal range. If thetransmission fluid temperature exceedsthe normal range, stop your vehicle as soonas possible and verify the airflow is notrestricted by snow or debris blockingairflow through the grille.
Special operating conditions such assnowplowing, towing, or off-road use maycause higher than normal operatingtemperatures. See Special OperatingConditions Scheduled Maintenance(page 335).
To lower the transmission temperatureinto the normal range, alter the severity ofyour driving conditions. Operating thetransmission for extended periods with thegauge in the higher than normal area maycause internal transmission damage. If thegauge continues to show hightemperatures, see an authorized dealer.

Do not use alcohol-based additives toimprove cetane quality, to prevent fuelgelling or any other use. The use of alcoholadditives may result in damage to the fuelinjectors and system.
The Vehicle Warranty may not coverrepairs needed to correct the effects ofusing an aftermarket product that doesnot meet Ford specifications in your fuel.
FUEL QUALITY - GASOLINE
Choosing the Right Fuel
Your vehicle is designed to operate onregular unleaded gasoline with a minimumpump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87.
Some fuel stations, particularly those inhigh altitude areas, offer fuels posted asregular unleaded gasoline with an octanerating below 87. The use of these fuelscould result in engine damage that will notbe covered by the vehicle warranty.
We do not recommend these fuels. Forbest overall vehicle and engineperformance, premium fuel with an octanerating of 91 or higher is recommended. Theperformance gained by using premium fuelis most noticeable in hot weather as wellas other conditions, for example whentowing a trailer. See Towing a Trailer(page 181).
Do not be concerned if the enginesometimes knocks lightly. However, if theengine knocks heavily while using fuel withthe recommended octane rating, contactan authorized dealer to prevent any enginedamage.
We recommend Top Tier detergentgasolines, where available to help minimizeengine deposits and maintain optimalvehicle and engine performance. Foradditional information, refer towww.toptiergas.com.
Note:Use of any fuel for which the vehiclewas not designed can impair the emissioncontrol system, cause loss of vehicleperformance, and cause damage to theengine which may not be covered by thevehicle Warranty.
Do not use:
•Diesel fuel.
•Fuels containing kerosene or paraffin.
•Fuel containing more than 15% ethanolor E85 fuel.
•Fuels containing methanol.
•Fuels containing metallic-basedadditives, including manganese-basedcompounds.
•Fuels containing the octane boosteradditive, methylcyclopentadienylmanganese tricarbonyl (MMT).
•Leaded fuel, using leaded fuel isprohibited by law.
The use of fuels with metallic compoundssuch as methylcyclopentadienylmanganese tricarbonyl (commonly knownas MMT), which is a manganese-basedfuel additive, will impair engineperformance and affect the emissioncontrol system.

To return to normal drive (D) position,move the shift lever back from manual (M)to drive (D).
The transmission operates in gears onethrough six.
Second (2)
The transmission operates in second (2)gear only. Use second (2) gear to just starton slippery roads.
First (1)
•The transmission operates in first (1)gear only.
•Provides maximum engine braking.
•Allows upshifts by moving gearshiftlever.
•Does not downshift into first (1) gearat high speeds; allows for first (1) gearwhen vehicle reaches slower speeds.
Forced downshifts
•Allowed in drive (D) with the tow/haulfeature on or off.
•Press the accelerator to the floor.
•Allows transmission to select anappropriate gear.
Tow/Haul Mode
To activate tow/haul, press thebutton on the gearshift leveronce. The TOW HAUL indicatorilluminates in the instrument cluster.
The tow/haul feature:
•Delays upshifts to reduce the frequencyof transmission shifting.
•Provides engine braking in all forwardgears, which slows your vehicle andassists you in controlling your vehiclewhen descending a grade.
•Depending on driving and loadconditions, could downshift thetransmission to slow your vehicle andhelp control your vehicle speed whendescending a hill, without pressing theaccelerator pedal. Tapping the brakepedal downshifts the transmission toprovide additional braking, only if thedownshift does not cause an engineoverspeed condition.
The tow/haul feature improvestransmission operation when towing atrailer or a heavy load. All transmissiongear ranges are available when usingtow/haul.
Note:Under certain conditions, theautomatic tow/haul feature engages, andthe TOW HAUL indicator illuminateswithout pressing the tow/haul button.
To deactivate the tow/haul feature andreturn to normal driving mode, press thebutton on the gearshift lever twice. TheTOW HAUL indicator turns off. Tow/haulalso deactivates when you power downyour vehicle.
WARNING: Do not use tow/haulwhen the road surface is slippery. Failureto follow this instruction could result inthe loss of control of your vehicle.
WARNING: Do not use dieselengine exhaust braking when the roadsurface is slippery. Failure to follow thisinstruction could result in the loss ofcontrol of your vehicle.

•Your load shifts due to improperretention, accident damage or theinherently mobile nature of some loads,for example, hanging meat, liveanimals or partially laden tankers.
•Your vehicle or load has an unusuallyhigh or off-set center of gravity.
•Your brakes are not properly adjustedor maintained.
•One side of your vehicle drops off thepavement at an angle that is too greatto be counteracted by a reduction inspeed.
To Maximize the Effectiveness OfStability Control
•Make sure that the weight of your loadis evenly distributed, from front to back,side to side and you secure it properlyat all times.
•Exercise extreme caution at all timeswhile driving and avoid sharp turns,sudden steering inputs or abrupt lanechanges at high speeds, particularly if:
•Hauling loads that can shift.
•Your vehicle or load has a high oroff-set center of gravity whenloaded.
•You are towing doubles or triples.
Electronic Stability Control Usage withTractor/Trailer
The electronic stability control system isdesigned to work with trailer air brakesystems. We do not recommend its usewith any other trailer brake system.
Electronic Stability Control and Towingwith Non-tractor Trucks (Straight orKick-up Frame)
Non-tractor trucks (straight or kick-upframe) with air brake electronic stabilitycontrol, should not be used for towing anytype of trailer.
Chassis Modifications
Stability control is specifically calibratedand validated only for your vehicle'soriginal configuration. If you alter yourvehicle's chassis components, for example,a wheel base extension or reduction, tagaxle addition or removal, a major bodychange such as conversion of a tractor intoa truck. Ford Motor Company is notresponsible for the performance of thestability control system if you modify anymajor components such as axle,suspension or steering system.

REAR VIEW CAMERA (IF EQUIPPED)
WARNING: The rear view camerasystem is a reverse aid supplementdevice that still requires the driver to useit in conjunction with the interior andexterior mirrors for maximum coverage.
WARNING: Objects that are closeto either corner of the bumper or underthe bumper, might not be seen on thescreen due to the limited coverage of thecamera system.
WARNING: Use caution when therear cargo door is ajar. If the rear cargodoor is ajar, the camera will be out ofposition and the video image could beincorrect. All guide lines disappear whenthe rear cargo door is ajar. Failure tofollow this instruction could result inpersonal injury.
WARNING: Reverse your vehicleslowly. Failure to follow this instructioncould result in the loss of control of yourvehicle, personal injury or death.
WARNING: Use caution whenturning camera features on or off whenthe transmission is not in park (P). Makesure your vehicle is not moving.
The rear view camera system provides avideo image of the area behind yourvehicle.

The camera is located on the rear of yourvehicle.
Note:Camera location may vary dependingon the configuration of your vehicle.
Using the Rear View CameraSystem
The rear view camera system displayswhat is behind your vehicle when you placethe transmission in reverse (R).
Note:When towing, the camera only seeswhat you are towing behind your vehicle.This might not provide adequate coverageas it usually provides in normal operationand you might not see some objects.
The camera may not operate correctlyunder the following conditions:
•Mud, water or debris obstructs thecamera's view. Clean the lens with asoft, lint-free cloth and non-abrasivecleaner.
•The camera is misaligned due todamage to the rear of your vehicle.

Hilly Condition and Trailer TowUsage
You should select a lower gear when thesystem is active in situations such asprolonged downhill driving on steepgrades, for example in mountainous areas.The system needs additional enginebraking in these situations to reduce theload on the vehicle’s regular brake systemto prevent it from overheating.
Note:An audible alarm sounds and thesystem shuts down if it applies brakes foran extended period of time. This allows thebrakes to cool. The system functionsnormally again after the brakes cool.
Note:When towing with adaptive cruisecontrol, switch on Tow/Haul mode.
Switching Adaptive Cruise ControlOff
Press and release the buttonwhen the system is in standbymode, or switch the ignition off.
Note:The set speed and gap setting iserased when you switch the system off.
Detection Issues
WARNING: On rare occasions,detection issues can occur due to theroad infrastructures, for example bridges,tunnels and safety barriers. In thesecases, the system may brake late orunexpectedly. At all times, you areresponsible for controlling your vehicle,supervising the system and intervening,if required.
WARNING: If the systemmalfunctions, have your vehicle checkedas soon as possible.
The radar sensor has a limited field of view.It may not detect vehicles at all or detecta vehicle later than expected in somesituations. The lead vehicle graphic doesnot illuminate if the system does notdetect a vehicle in front of you.
Detection issues can occur:
When driving on a different linethan the vehicle in front.A
With vehicles that edge into yourlane. The system can only detectthese vehicles once they movefully into your lane.
B
There may be issues with thedetection of vehicles in frontwhen driving into and coming outof a bend or curve in the road.
