WHEELS
Your ST vehicle is equipped with uniquewheels matched to the tires. These wheelsare more susceptible to damage due totheir diameter, width and low profile tires. To avoid damage to your wheels:
•Maintain proper tire pressure.
•Exercise caution when usingautomated, commercial car washes.Hand washing or using touchlesscommercial car washes withoutmechanical tracks is the best way toavoid potential damage.
•When installing wheels, always torquelug nuts to specification with a torquewrench.
•Inspect your wheels for damage on aregular basis. If a wheel is damaged, replace it immediately.
•If you encounter an abnormally harshimpact, inspect the outer diameter ofyour wheels, both inside and out, fordamage.
TIRES
Your ST vehicle is equipped with lowprofile, high performance tires that aredesigned to optimize the driving dynamicsyou expect in an ST vehicle. These tires arenot optimized for off-road or winter (snowor cold weather) performance, and theirride, noise and wear characteristics aredifferent than non-performance tires. Also,
because of their lower profile, the tires aremore susceptible to damage due topotholes and rough roads. To make surethat your tires perform as intended, it isimportant that you maintain your tiresproperly:
Note:Do not use tire chains on the originalwheels and tires of your vehicle. The use ofany type of tire chain on these tires maydamage your vehicle.
•Do not overload your vehicle. Maximumvehicle and axle weights are listed onthe tire information placard.
•Take extra caution when operating thevehicle near its maximum load, including assuring proper tire pressureand reducing speeds.
•Take extra caution when operating onrough roads to avoid impacts thatcould cause tire damage.
•If you encounter an abnormally harshimpact, inspect your tires for damage.
•Inspect your tires for damage on aregular basis. If a tire is damaged, replace it immediately.
•Proper suspension alignment is criticalfor maximum performance andoptimal tire wear. If you notice uneventire wear, have your alignment checked.
•When replacing tires, the only way tomaintain original performance is to usethe original equipment tire. If a differentsummer tire is used, it should be thesame size, speed rating and load ratingas the originally equipped tire. Replacetires as a set of four. Never mix tirebrands or models.

Tire Pressure
•For tire pressures, see the placardlocated on the B-pillar inside thedriver's door.
•Always maintain your tire pressuresaccording to the tire informationplacard on the driver's door jamb, usingan accurate gauge.
•Tire pressures are specified cold. Checkthem after the vehicle has been parkedfor at least three hours. Do not reducepressure of warm tires.
•Check your tire pressure often tomaintain it properly. Tire pressure candiminish over time and fluctuate withtemperature.
Tire Pressure for High Speed Usage
If you are operating your ST vehicle in areasthat allow high-speed driving over 100 mph(161 km/h), increase the tire pressure in allfour tires by 3 psi above the pressureslisted on the Tire Pressure placard locatedon the driver’s side b-pillar.
USING WINTER TIRES
The original equipment tires on your STvehicle are designed for maximumperformance in dry and wet summerconditions. They are not designed forwinter use on ice or snow and cannot beused with snow chains. Ford does notrecommend using the original equipmenttires when temperatures drop toapproximately 40°F (5°C) or below(depending on tire wear and environmentalconditions) or in snow and ice conditions. You must use winter or all-season tires ifyou will be operating your vehicle in theseconditions.
•Even with clear, dry driving conditionsdo not operate your vehicle aboveposted speed limits or perform highspeed maneuvers with winter tires.
•Do not use tire chains on the originalwheels and tires of your vehicle. Theuse of any type of tire chain on thesetires may damage your vehicle.

The following table lists acceptable tiresizes for winter tires. Tire speed and loadratings should match those of the originallyequipped tires as closely as possible. If itis required to fit winter tires with a speed
rating less than the original equipment tires(to fit snow chains, for example), be awareof the maximum speed rating for the tireand never exceed.

CHANGING A ROAD WHEEL
See the Wheels and Tires chapter of yourowner's manual for instructions onchanging a road wheel.
Full Size Spare
Your ST vehicle is equipped with a full size, dissimilar spare tire assembly. Althoughthe spare is a traditional, full size tire (asopposed to a mini spare), it is different inboth size and handling characteristics fromthe standard Fiesta ST performance tire.If you need to install the spare tire, youmust adhere to the following precautions:
•Because of the different performancecharacteristics of the spare tire, avoidaggressive steering, braking, acceleration or high speeds when thespare tire is installed.
•Never enable electronic stabilitycontrol sport mode or fully disableelectronic stability control when thespare tire is installed.
•Replace the spare tire with the correctoriginal equipment specified tire assoon as possible.
The following table lists the specificationsfor the full size spare tire and wheelassembly. Tire speed and load ratingsshould match those of the originallyequipped tires as closely as possible.

Wheel Lug Nut TorqueSpecifications
WARNING
When a wheel is installed, alwaysremove any corrosion, dirt or foreignmaterials present on the mountingsurfaces of the wheel or the surface of thewheel hub, brake drum or brake disc thatcontacts the wheel. Make sure that anyfasteners that attach the rotor to the hubare secured so they do not interfere withthe mounting surfaces of the wheel.Installing wheels without correctmetal-to-metal contact at the wheelmounting surfaces can cause the wheelnuts to loosen and the wheel to come offwhile the vehicle is in motion, resulting inloss of control.
Retighten the lug nuts to the specifiedtorque at 500 miles (800 kilometers) afterany wheel disturbance (such as tirerotation, changing a flat tire, wheelremoval).

1Use only Motorcraft DOT 4 LV High Performance Brake Fluid or equivalent meetingWSS-M6C65-A2 and ISO 4925 Class 6. Use of any fluid other than the recommendedfluid may cause brake system damage.2 Your engine has been designed to use engine oil that meets Ford specification or anequivalent engine oil of the recommended viscosity grade that displays the APICertification Mark for gasoline engines. Do not use supplemental engine oil additives, cleaners or other engine treatments. They are unnecessary and could lead to enginedamage that is not covered by Ford warranty.3Add the coolant type originally equipped in your vehicle.
