The Belt-Minder feature will not activate.
You and the front seat passenger buckle
your seatbelts before you switch the igni-
tion on or less than 1-2 minutes elapse after you switch the ignition on...
The Belt-Minder feature activates, the
seatbelt warning light illuminates and a
warning tone sounds for 6 seconds every
25 seconds, repeating for about 5 minutes or until you and the front seat passenger buckle your seatbelts.
You or the front seat passenger do not
buckle your seatbelts before your vehicle
reaches at least 6 mph (9.7 km/h) and 1-2
minutes elapse after you switch the ignition on...
The Belt-Minder feature activates, the
seatbelt warning light illuminates and a
warning tone sounds for 6 seconds every
25 seconds, repeating for about 5 minutes or until you and the front seat passenger buckle your seatbelts.
The seatbelt for the driver or front
passenger is unbuckled for about 1 minute
while the vehicle is traveling at least 6 mph (9.7 km/h)

Deactivating and Activating the
Belt-Minder Feature WARNING
While the system allows you to
deactivate it, this system is designed
to improve your chances of being
safely belted and surviving an accident.
We recommend you leave the system
activated for yourself and others who may
use the vehicle. Note:
The driver and front passenger
warnings switch on and off independently.
When you perform this procedure for one
seating position, do not buckle the other
position as this will terminate the process.
Note: If you are using MyKey ™, you cannot
disable the Belt-Minder. Also, if you have
previously disabled the Belt-Minder, it will
be re-enabled during the use of MyKey ™.

MyKey ™ (page 48). Read Steps 1 - 4 thoroughly before
proceeding with the programming
procedure.
Before following the procedure, make sure
that:
•
The parking brake is set.
• The transmission is in park (P).
• The ignition is off.
• The driver and front passenger
seatbelts are unbuckled.
1. Switch the ignition on. Do not start the
vehicle (Ready to Drive light must not
be lit).
2. Wait until the seatbelt warning light turns off (about one minute). Once you
start Step 3, you must complete the
procedure within 60 seconds.
3. For the seating position you are switching off, buckle then unbuckle the
seatbelt four times at a moderate
speed, ending in the unbuckled state.
After Step 3, the seatbelt warning light
turns on.

INSTRUMENT LIGHTING
DIMMER
Note:
You disable the manual dimmer
when you adjust the setting to Auto
Dimming in the information display. See
Information Displays (page 80).
Note: If you disconnect the battery or it
becomes discharged, the illuminated
components will switch to the maximum
setting. Press repeatedly or press and hold until
you reach the desired level.
HEADLAMP EXIT DELAY
After you power off your vehicle, you can
switch the headlamps on by pulling the
direction indicator lever toward you. You
will hear a short tone. The headlamps
switch off automatically after three
minutes with any door open or 30 seconds
after the last door has been closed. You
can cancel this feature by pulling the
direction indicator toward you again or by
powering off your vehicle. DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS WARNING
The daytime running lamps system
does not activate the rear lamps and
may not provide adequate lighting
during low visibility driving conditions. Also,
the autolamps switch position may not
activate the headlamps in all low visibility
conditions, such as daytime fog. Make sure
the headlamps are switched to auto or on,
as appropriate, during all low visibility
conditions. Failure to do so may result in a
crash. Type 1 - Conventional (Non-
Configurable)
The daytime running lamps turn on when:
1. The ignition is switched to the on
position.
2. The transmission is not in park (P) for vehicles with automatic transmissions
or the parking brake is released for
vehicles with manual transmissions.
3. The lighting control is in the off, parking
lamp or autolamps positions.
4. The headlamps are off.
Type 2 - Configurable
Switch the daytime running lamps on or
off using the information display controls.

Information Displays (page 80).
The daytime running lamps turn on when:
1. They are switched on in the information
display. See
Information Displays
(page 80).
2. The ignition is switched to the on position.
3. The transmission is not in park (P) for vehicles with automatic transmissions
or the parking brake is released for
vehicles with manual transmissions.

Powertrain Fault
Lights when the system detects
a powertrain or high-voltage
charge system fault. If the
indicator stays on or continues to come on,
contact an authorized dealer as soon as
possible.
Ready to Drive Lights after you power your
vehicle on and it is ready to drive.
A corresponding message may
display stating ready to drive.
Stability Control Warning Lamp Lights when the system is
active. If it remains on or does
not light when you power your
vehicle on, this indicates a malfunction.
During a malfunction, the system turns off.
Have the system checked by an authorized
dealer immediately. See Using Stability
Control (page 125).
Stability Control Off Indicator Lights when you switch the
system off. It goes out when you
switch the system back on or
when you power off your vehicle.

Stop Safely Indicates an electrical
component fault or failure that
causes your vehicle to shutdown
or enter into a limited operating mode. A
message may also display. Vehicle Plugged in Lights after you plug in your
vehicle. A corresponding
message may display after
attempting to power on your vehicle.
AUDIBLE WARNINGS AND
INDICATORS
Keyless Warning Alert
The horn will sound twice when you exit
your vehicle with the intelligent access key
and your vehicle is in RUN, indicating your
vehicle is still on.
Headlamps On Warning Chime
Sounds when you remove the key from the
ignition and open the driver's door and you
have left the headlamps or parking lamps
on.
Parking Brake On Warning Chime
Sounds when you have left the parking
brake on and drive your vehicle. If the
warning chime remains on after you have
released the parking brake, have the
system checked by your authorized dealer
immediately.

Your vehicle is equipped with a standard
DC charge feature. You can charge your
vehicle using SAEJ1772 compatible
charging stations. Charging to 80% takes
approximately 33 minutes, or to 75 miles
range in 30 minutes.

The charge indicator displays the state of
charge in 25 percent increments.
1. Shift into park (P), apply the parking brake and turn the vehicle off.
2. Open the charge port door.
Note: To open the charge port door, press
the center rear edge of the charge port door
and then release.
3. Fully open the charge port door until it
engages.
4. Connect your vehicle to the charging system. Note:
The charge indicator flashes to
confirm you have fully engaged the charging
coupler.
Charging
1. If using a 240 volt charging station, follow the instructions on the charge
station to begin the charging process.
The charge indicator shows the progress
of the charge. Starting at the bottom, the
four lights will either flash to indicate
charging in progress or remain illuminated
to indicate charge level. When all four
lights illuminate, charging is complete. The
charge indicator will turn off one minute
after reaching a full charge.
Locking the AC Charging Coupler
To lock the charging coupler, you need a
padlock or a combination lock with a
shackle diameter of 0.2 in (5 mm) or less.
The straight portion of the shackle must
be
1.0 in (25 mm) or longer. 1. Insert the lock through the hole in the
charging coupler button.
2. Lock the padlock or combination lock.

2. Open the charge port door.

3. Fully open the charge port door until it
engages. 4. Remove the charge port cover.
5. Connect your vehicle to the charging
system.
Note: The charge indicator flashes to

WARNINGS
If the parking brake is fully released,
but the brake warning lamp remains
illuminated, the brakes may not be
working properly. See your authorized
dealer. In the event of an electrical malfunction or
if the vehicle battery has no charge, use
the following procedure to shift the
gearshift lever from the park (P) position.
Apply the parking brake and switch the
power off before carrying out this
procedure.
1. Using a suitable tool, carefully pry off
and remove the passenger side access
cover.
2. Remove the retaining clip.
3. Remove the center console side panel. Note:
The lever is white.
4. Apply the brake pedal. Using a suitable
tool rotate the lever forward while
pulling the gearshift lever out of the
park (P) position and into the neutral
(N) position.
5. Install components in the reverse order
of removal.
Note: Contact an authorized dealer as soon
as possible if this procedure is used.
If Your Vehicle Gets Stuck In Mud
or Snow
If your vehicle is stuck in mud or snow, shift
between drive (D) and reverse (R) pressing
lightly on the accelerator pedal in each
gear. Stop between shifts in a steady
pattern to rock your vehicle.
Note: Do not rock your vehicle if the electric
motor is not at normal operating
temperature or damage to the transmission
may occur.
Note: Excessive rocking may eventually
cause a loss of power, as your vehicle
protects against overheating or damage.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Wet brakes result in reduced braking
efficiency. Gently press the brake pedal a
few times when driving from a car wash or
standing water to dry the brakes.
Note:
Occasional brake noise is normal. If
a metal-to-metal, continuous grinding or
continuous squeal sound is present, the
brake linings may be worn-out. Have the
system checked by an authorized dealer. If
your vehicle has continuous vibration or
shudder in the steering wheel while braking,
have it checked by an authorized dealer.
Note: Brake dust may accumulate on the
wheels, even under normal driving
conditions. Some dust is inevitable as the
brakes wear and does not contribute to
brake noise. See Cleaning the Wheels
(page 188).
Note: Depending on applicable laws and
regulations in the country for which your
vehicle was originally built, the brake lamps
could flash during heavy braking. Following
this, the hazard lights could also flash when
your vehicle comes to a stop.
Brake Over Accelerator
In the event that the accelerator pedal
becomes stuck or entrapped, apply steady
and firm pressure to the brake pedal to
slow your vehicle and reduce vehicle
power. If you experience this condition,
apply the brakes and bring your vehicle to
a safe stop. Move the transmission to park
(P), switch your vehicle off and apply the
parking brake. Inspect the accelerator
pedal for any interference. If none are
found and the condition persists, have your
vehicle towed to the nearest authorized
dealer. Brake Assist
Brake assist detects when you rapidly
brake by measuring the rate at which you
press the brake pedal. It provides
maximum braking efficiency as long as you
press the pedal, and can reduce stopping
distances in critical situations
Anti-Lock Brake System
This system helps you maintain steering
control during emergency stops by keeping
the brakes from locking.
If it illuminates when you are
driving, this indicates a
malfunction. Your vehicle
continues to have normal braking without
the anti-lock brake system function. Have
your vehicle checked as soon as possible.
It also momentarily illuminates when you
switch your vehicle on to confirm the lamp
is functional. If it does not illuminate when
you switch your vehicle on, or begins to
flash at any time, have the system checked
by an authorized dealer. It illuminates when you engage
the parking brake and your
vehicle is on.
If it illuminates when your vehicle is
moving, make sure the parking brake is
disengaged. If the parking brake is
disengaged, this indicates low brake fluid
level or a brake system fault. Have your
vehicle immediately checked.
It also momentarily illuminates when you
switch your vehicle on to confirm the lamp
is functional. If it does not illuminate when
you switch your vehicle on, or begins to
flash at any time, have the system checked
by an authorized dealer.
