Power Distribution Box - Bottom
There are fuses located on the bottom ofthe fuse box. To access the bottom of thefuse box, do the following:
1.Release the two latches, located onboth sides of the fuse box.

2.Raise the inboard side of the fuse boxfrom the cradle.
3.Move the fuse box toward the centerof the engine compartment.
4.Pivot the outboard side of the fuse boxto access the bottom side.

CHANGING A FUSE

WARNING
Always replace a fuse with one thathas the specified amperage rating.Using a fuse with a higher amperagerating can cause severe wire damage andcould start a fire.
If electrical components in the vehicle arenot working, a fuse may have blown. Blownfuses are identified by a broken wire withinthe fuse. Check the appropriate fusesbefore replacing any electricalcomponents.

To help you service your vehicle, weprovide scheduled maintenanceinformation which makes tracking routineservice easy. See ScheduledMaintenance (page 428).
If your vehicle requires professional service,your authorized dealer can provide thenecessary parts and service. Check yourwarranty information to find out whichparts and services are covered.
Use only recommended fuels, lubricants,fluids and service parts conforming tospecifications. Motorcraft® parts aredesigned and built to provide the bestperformance in your vehicle.
Precautions
•Do not work on a hot engine.
•Make sure that nothing gets caught inmoving parts.
•Do not work on a vehicle with theengine running in an enclosed space,unless you are sure you have enoughventilation.
•Keep all open flames and other burningmaterial (such as cigarettes) awayfrom the battery and all fuel relatedparts.
Working with the Engine Off
1.Set the parking brake and shift to P(Park).
2.Turn off the engine and remove the key(if equipped).
3.Block the wheels.
Working with the Engine On
WARNING
To reduce the risk of vehicle damageand/or personal burn injuries, do notstart your engine with the air cleanerremoved and do not remove it while theengine is running.
1.Set the parking brake and shift to P(Park).
2.Block the wheels
OPENING AND CLOSING THE
HOOD
1.To open the hood, go inside the vehicleand pull the hood release handlelocated under the left-hand side of theinstrument panel.

2.Go to the front of the vehicle andlocate the secondary release lever,which is located under the front of thehood, to your right of the center of thevehicle (driver's side), near theheadlight.
3.Release the hood latch by pushing theyellow secondary release lever to yourleft, toward the center of the vehicle.
4.Raise the hood and support it with theprop rod by securing the prop rod in theproper hole in the hood.
5.To close the hood, lift the hood slightlyand separate the prop rod from thehood and secure the prop rod in theclip.
6.Lower the hood and allow it to drop thelast 10-12 inches (25 to 30centimeters).
Note:Make sure that you close the hoodproperly and that it fully latches on bothsides of the hood.
