Headlamp Flasher
Slightly pull the lever toward you andrelease it to flash the headlamps.
AUTOLAMPS
WARNING
The system does not relieve you ofyour responsibility to drive with duecare and attention. You may need tooverride the system if it does not turn theheadlamps on in low visibility conditions,for example daytime fog.
When the lighting control is in theautolamps position, the headlamps turnon in low light situations, or when thewipers turn on.
The headlamps remain on for a period oftime after you switch the ignition off. Usethe information display controls to adjustthe period of time that the headlampsremain on.
Note: If you switch the autolamps on, youcannot switch the high beams on until thesystem turns the low beams on.
Windshield Wiper ActivatedHeadlamps
When you switch the autolamps on, theheadlamps turn on within 10 seconds ofswitching the wipers on. They turn offapproximately 60 seconds after you switchthe windshield wipers off.
The headlamps do not turn on with thewipers:
•During a single wipe.
•When using the windshield washers.
•If the wipers are in intermittent mode.
Note:If you switch the autolamps and theautowipers on, the headlamps turn on whenthe windshield wipers continuously operate.

Note:When disconnecting the battery orwhen it runs out of charge, the illuminatedcomponents turn to the maximum setting.

Odometer
Located in the bottom of the informationdisplay. Registers the accumulateddistance your vehicle has traveled.
Battery Gauge:
For Energi vehicles, a large battery gaugeis provided while the vehicle operates inPlug-In Power Mode only. See Plug-InHybrid Vehicle Operation (page 152).The fill level indicates the amount ofenergy stored in the high voltage batterythat is available for Plug-in Power Mode.A full fill represents the total amount ofenergy you can get from an external charge(plugging your vehicle in). When the fillreaches empty, your vehicle automaticallyenters Hybrid Mode and the large batterygauge will no longer be shown.

An optional small battery gauge is providedfor Hybrid vehicles and for Hybrid Modeonly in Energi vehicles. This can be enabledin the Settings menu under Battery Display.See General Information (page 97). Thefill level, or State of Charge, indicates theamount of energy stored in the highvoltage battery as a percent of total energycapacity. The level increases or decreasesas the battery charges and dischargesduring normal operation.
Regen Display
A circular arrow symbol displays whenenergy is being recaptured through theregenerative braking system. Regen Displaycan be disabled in the Settings menu. SeeGeneral Information (page 97).
Fuel Gauge:
Note:The fuel gauge may vary slightlywhen your vehicle is moving or on a gradient.
Switch the ignition on. The fuel gaugeindicates approximately how much fuel isin the fuel tank. The arrow adjacent to thefuel pump symbol indicates on which sideof your vehicle the fuel filler door is located.
The needle should move toward F whenyou refuel your vehicle. If the needle pointsto E after adding fuel, this indicates yourvehicle needs service soon.
After refueling some variability in needleposition is normal:
•It may take a short time for the needleto reach full after leaving the gasstation. This is normal and dependsupon the slope of pavement at the gasstation.
•The fuel amount dispensed into thetank is a little less or more than thegauge indicated. This is normal anddepends upon the slope of pavementat the gas station.
•If the gas station nozzle shuts offbefore the tank is full, try a differentgas pump nozzle.
•There is a small reserve left in the tankwhen the fuel gauge reaches empty.
Low Fuel Reminder
A low fuel level reminder displays andsounds when the distance to emptyreaches 75 mi (120 km) for MyKey, and at50 mi (80 km), 25 mi (40 km), 12 mi(20 km) and 0 mi (0 km) for all vehiclekeys.

Note:The low fuel reminder can appear atdifferent fuel gauge positions depending onfuel economy conditions. This variation isnormal.

Brake Coach Display:
The Brake Coach appears after the vehiclehas come to a stop. It coaches you to brakein a manner which maximizes the amountof energy returned through theregenerative braking system. The percentdisplayed is an indication of theregenerative braking efficiency with 100%representing the maximum amount ofenergy recovery.
You can switch this feature on or off in theinformation displays settings menu. SeeGeneral Information (page 97).

Trip Summary:
Trip Summary displays upon shutting offyour vehicle. The information is cumulativeover the last trip. A new trip begins eachtime your start your vehicle (when theReady to Drive message comes on).
•Distance - Displays the total distancetraveled, distance traveled on batterypower only (EV distance) and Regendistance. Regen distance is theestimated range gained from energyrecaptured through regenerativebraking.
•Energy Use - Displays the average fueleconomy. In addition for Energi,displays the total electrical energy usedwhile in Plug-in Power Mode in kilowatthours (kWh).
•Brake Score - The percent displayed isan indication of the regenerativebraking efficiency for the trip.
Note:Corresponding trip efficiency leavesappear on the right information display uponshutting off your Hybrid vehicle. On Energivehicles, the trip efficiency leaves are shownon the right information display when thevehicle operates in Hybrid Mode for theentire trip. For trips with Plug-in Power Modeoperation, an estimate of your EVRange/Full Charge is provided along with alisting of factors and their contributions tothis estimate. See Next Full Charge underRight Information Display in this chapter.

Vehicle Range
Vehicle range indicates the estimateddistance your vehicle will travel with theenergy currently onboard. The range isdisplayed at the bottom of the screen withgasoline range shown in white and electricrange (Energi only) shown in blue.
•Gasoline Range: Is the estimateddistance to empty based on the fuelremaining in the tank.
•Electric Range: Is the estimateddistance you can travel in Plug-InPower Mode with the engine off. Thisrange is based on a calculationdetermined by the amount of energystored in the high voltage battery as aresult of charging while plugged in andthe energy being used while driving.
The amount of energy being used whiledriving is affected by:
•Mild or aggressive acceleration orbraking.
•Your vehicle speed.
•Your use of accessories such as climatecontrol.
•The ambient temperature and otherweather conditions.
•City or highway driving.
•Road grades.
Note: It is normal for vehicle rangeestimates to vary due to changes in averageenergy usage. This is why you typically seedifferent range estimates each time you fillup your fuel tank or fully charge your battery.

Adaptive Cruise Control (If Equipped)
The speed control systemindicator light changes color toindicate what mode the systemis in: See Using Adaptive Cruise Control(page 201).
On (white light): Lights when you turn theadaptive cruise control system on. Turnsoff when you turn the speed controlsystem off.
Engaged (green light): Lights when theadaptive cruise control system engages.Turns off when the speed control systemdisengages.
Anti-Lock Braking System
If it lights when you are driving,this indicates a malfunction. Youwill continue to have the normalbraking system (without Anti-lock brakingsystem) unless the brake system warninglamp also lights. Have an authorized dealercheck the system.
Battery
If it lights while driving, itindicates a malfunction. Switchoff all unnecessary electricalequipment and have an authorized dealercheck the system immediately.
Blind Spot Monitor (If Equipped)
Lights when you switch thisfeature off or with a blind-spotmessage. See Blind SpotInformation System (page 214). SeeInformation Messages (page 106).
Brake System
WARNING
Driving your vehicle with the warninglamp on is dangerous. A significantdecrease in braking performancemay occur. It may take you longer to stopyour vehicle. Have your vehicle checked assoon as possible. Driving extendeddistances with the parking brake engagedcan cause brake failure and the risk ofpersonal injury.
Lights when you engage theparking brake with the ignitionon.
If it lights when you are driving, check thatthe parking brake is not on. If the parkingbrake is not on, this Brake System lampindicates low brake fluid level or a brakesystem malfunction. Have an authorizeddealer check the system immediately.
Cruise Control
Lights when you switch on cruisecontrol.
Direction Indicator
Lights when you switch on theleft or right indicator or thehazard flasher. If the indicatorsstay on or flash faster, check for aburned-out bulb. See Changing a Bulb(page 270).
Door Ajar
Lights when the ignition is on andany door is not completelyclosed.

Engage
Engage provides separate gauges forengine power and high voltage batterypower in kilowatts (kW). The engine powergauge fill is white and the high voltagebattery power gauge fill is blue. You canalso see an instantaneous fuel economygauge. When your vehicle is operating onbattery power only, you will see EVdisplayed and the gauges will appear inblue.
Empower
Empower provides a power demand gaugein kilowatts (kW) which includes an engineon or off threshold.
•When your vehicle is operating withbattery power only (below thethreshold), you will see EV displayedand the gauge fill is blue.
•When your vehicle is operating withboth the engine and the high voltagebattery providing power, the gauge fillis white.
•When power demand surpasses theamber indicator, this level of demandand associated fuel economy displaysin amber.
•When the engine is on, reducing powerdemand to less than the threshold willallow the engine to turn off.
You can also see an instantaneous fueleconomy gauge.
Note:You can reset your average fueleconomy by pressing and holding the OKbutton on the left hand steering wheelcontrols.

Information Displays

MyView
You can choose what to display in thisview. Selecting Change MyView in theoptions menu allows you to scroll throughtwo columns of content choices.
•Press the up or down arrow to viewcontent.
•Press OK to save your selectedcontent.
•You must select content in bothcolumns before you can save your newMyView.
Unique content available in MyView:
•Vehicle Range (Energi vehicles only) –Indicates the estimated distance yourvehicle will travel with the energycurrently onboard. Separately displaysrange available in Hybrid Mode fueledby gasoline, electric range available inPlug-in Power Mode, and total range.Gasoline range and electric range arealso shown on the bottom of the rightinformation display. Changes in drivingpattern and climate control use willcause the values to vary.
•Accessory Power— Indicates electricalpower demands from your vehicle’saccessory systems. Accessories usepower but do not contribute topropelling your vehicle. The gaugeseparately displays power demand inkilowatts (kW) for climate and otheraccessories. Climate includes thepower being used by high voltageclimate control components such asthe electric A/C compressor and theelectric heater (Energi vehicles only).Other includes all power being used bythe low voltage accessories (cabinfans, headlights, heated seats, etc.).
•Coolant Temp – Indicates enginecoolant temperature. At normaloperating temperature, the levelindicator will be white and will be in thenormal range (between H and C). If theengine coolant temperature exceedsthe normal range, the level indicatorwill change to red to indicate that theengine is overheating. Stop your vehicleas soon as safely possible, turn yourvehicle off and let the engine cool.
•Tach rpm x 1000 — When the gasolineengine is running, the tachometergauge displays the engine speed inrevolutions per minute (RPM). Whenyour vehicle is operating on batterypower only with the engine off, EVdisplays and the tachometer is greyedout.
Note:The trip data, and average fueleconomy cannot be reset in MyView.
Miles (or km)/Full Charge (Energi only)
In Hybrid Mode the display changes to FuelEconomy. Miles or Kilometers per FullCharge is an estimate of your EV Rangewith a fully charged battery.
This display is only available in Plug-inPower Mode.
Average Miles or Kilometers per FullCharge is provided along with anInstantaneous gauge. This information isbased on your energy usage while driving.Energy usage is affected by your drivingstyle and route, climate control use,outside temperature and other factors. Formore information refer to Next Full Charge.See Gauges (page 89).
When you select EV Now operation thisscreen will automatically be shown. Youcan press OK to enable the engine whenviewing this screen during EV Nowoperation. See Plug-In Hybrid VehicleOperation (page 152).

Fuel Economy (Energi only)
This display is only available in HybridMode. In Plug-in Power Mode the displaychanges to Miles (or km)/Full Charge.
An Instant Fuel Economy gauge is providedalong with Avg Fuel Economy. Whileviewing this screen you can reset youraverage fuel economy by pressing andholding the OK button on the left handsteering wheel controls. For moreinformation see Common Displays in thischapter.
Trip 1 & 2
Provides trip odometer, trip average fueleconomy and trip timer.
Distance traveled on battery power onlywith the engine off is shown in blue nextto total trip distance.
