2. After positioning the child safety seatin the proper seating position, pulldown on the shoulder belt and thengrasp the shoulder belt and lap belttogether behind the belt tongue.
3.While holding the shoulder and lap beltportions together, route the tonguethrough the child restraint accordingto the child restraint manufacturer'sinstructions. Be sure the belt webbingis not twisted.
4. Insert the belt tongue into the properbuckle (the buckle closest to thedirection the tongue is coming from)for that seating position until you heara snap and feel the latch engage. Makesure the tongue is latched securely bypulling on it.
5. To put the retractor in the automaticlocking mode, grasp the shoulderportion of the belt and pull downwarduntil you pull all of the belt out.
Note:The automatic locking mode isavailable on the front passenger and rearseats.
6. Allow the belt to retract to removeslack. The belt clicks as it retracts toindicate it is in the automatic lockingmode.
7. Try to pull the belt out of the retractorto make sure the retractor is in theautomatic locking mode (you shouldnot be able to pull more belt out). If theretractor is not locked, unbuckle thebelt and repeat Steps 5 and 6.

Note:The lock-off device on some childrestraints may not accommodate theshoulder portion of the inflatable seatbelt.Follow all instructions provided by themanufacturer of the child restraint regardingthe necessary and proper use of the lock-offdevice. In some instances, these deviceshave been provided only for use in vehicleswith seatbelt systems that would otherwiserequire a locking clip.
6. Allow the belt to retract to removeslack. The belt clicks as it retracts toindicate it is in the automatic lockingmode.

1.Route the child safety seat tether strapover the back of the seat. For outboardseating positions, route the tether strapunder the head restraint and betweenthe head restraint posts. For the centerseating positions, route the tether strapover the top of the head restraint. Ifneeded, the head restraints can alsobe removed.
2. Locate the correct anchor for theselected seating position, then openthe tether anchor cover.
3. Clip the tether strap to the anchor asshown.
4. Tighten the child safety seat tetherstrap according to the manufacturer'sinstructions.
If your child restraint system has a tetherstrap, and the child restraint manufacturerrecommends its use, we also recommendits use.
BOOSTER SEATS
WARNING
Never place, or allow a child to place,the shoulder belt under a child's armor behind the back because itreduces the protection for the upper partof the body and may increase the risk ofinjury or death in a crash.
Note:Some booster seat safety belt guidesmay not accommodate the shoulder portionof the inflatable safety belt.
Use a belt-positioning booster seat forchildren who have outgrown or no longerproperly fit in a child safety seat (generallychildren who are less than 4 feet 9 inches(1.45 meters) tall, are greater than age four(4) and less than age twelve (12), andbetween 40 pounds (18 kilograms) and80 pounds (36 kilograms) and upward to100 pounds (45 kilograms) ifrecommended by your child restraintmanufacturer). Many state and provinciallaws require that children use approvedbooster seats until they reach age eight, aheight of 4 feet 9 inches (1.45 meters) tall,or 80 pounds (36 kilograms).
Booster seats should be used until you cananswer YES to ALL of these questionswhen seated without a booster seat:

•Can the child sit all the way backagainst their vehicle seat back withknees bent comfortably at the edge ofthe seat cushion?
•Can the child sit without slouching?
•Does the lap belt rest low across thehips?
•Is the shoulder belt centered on theshoulder and chest?
•Can the child stay seated like this forthe whole trip?
Always use booster seats in conjunctionwith your vehicle lap and shoulder belt.
Types of Booster Seats
•Backless booster seats
If your backless booster seat has aremovable shield, remove the shield. If avehicle seating position has a low seatback or no head restraint, a backlessbooster seat may place your child's head(as measured at the tops of the ears)above the top of the seat. In this case,move the backless booster to anotherseating position with a higher seat back orhead restraint and lap and shoulder belts,or consider using a high back booster seat.
•High back booster seats
If, with a backless booster seat, you cannotfind a seating position that adequatelysupports your child's head, a high backbooster seat would be a better choice.
Children and booster seats vary in size andshape. Choose a booster that keeps thelap belt low and snug across the hips,never up across the stomach, and lets youadjust the shoulder belt to cross the chestand rest snugly near the center of theshoulder. The following drawings comparethe ideal fit (center) to a shoulder beltuncomfortably close to the neck and ashoulder belt that could slip off theshoulder. The drawings also show how thelap belt should be low and snug across thechild's hips.

Child Safety

MAX Defrost: Press the buttonto maximize defrosting. Outsideair flows through the windshieldvents, and the fan automaticallyadjusts to the highest speed. Youcan use this setting to defog orclear a thin covering of ice fromthe windshield. The heated rearwindow also automatically turnson when you select MAX Defrost.

Note: To prevent windowfogging, you cannot selectrecirculated air when MAXDefrost is on.
Power: Press the button to turnthe system on and off. Switchingoff the climate control systemprevents outside air fromentering the vehicle.

Heated seat (if equipped):Turn the driver or passengerheated seats on and off. SeeHeated Seats (page 135).

MAX A/C: Press the button tomaximize cooling. Recirculatedair flows through the instrumentpanel vents, air conditioningautomatically turns on, and thefan automatically adjusts to thehighest speed.

A/C: Press the button to turn airconditioning compressor on oroff. Use air conditioning withrecirculated air to improvecooling performance andefficiency.

HINTS ON CONTROLLING THE

General Hints
Note:Prolonged use of recirculated air maycause the windows to fog up.
Note:You may feel a small amount of airfrom the footwell air vents regardless of theair distribution setting.
Note:To reduce humidity build-up insideyour vehicle, do not drive with the systemswitched off or with recirculated air alwaysswitched on.
Note:Do not place objects under the frontseats as this may interfere with the airflowto the rear seats.
Note:Remove any snow, ice or leaves fromthe air intake area at the base of thewindshield.
Note:To improve the time to reach acomfortable temperature in hot weather,drive with the windows open until you feelcold air through the air vents.
Automatic Climate Control
Note:Adjusting the settings when yourvehicle interior is extremely hot or cold isnot necessary.
Note:The system adjusts to heat or coolthe interior to the temperature you selectas quickly as possible.
Note:For the system to function efficiently,the instrument panel and side air ventsshould be fully open.
Note:If you select AUTO during coldoutside temperatures, the system directsair flow to the windshield and side windowvents. In addition, the fan may run at aslower speed until the engine warms up.

Climate Control

Note:Adjust the seat backrest to an uprightdriving position before adjusting the headrestraint. Adjust the head restraint so thatthe top of it is level with the top of your headand as far forward as possible. Make surethat you remain comfortable. If you areextremely tall, adjust the head restraint toits highest position.

GENERAL INFORMATION
WARNING
This battery pack should only beserviced by an authorized electricvehicle technician. Improper handlingcan result in personal injury or death.
Note:The high-voltage battery does notrequire regular service maintenance.
Your vehicle consists of varioushigh-voltage components and wiring. Allof the high-voltage power flows throughspecific wiring assemblies labeled as suchor covered with a solid orange convolute,or orange striped tape, or both. Do notcome in contact with these components.
The high-voltage battery system is ahigh-voltage, lithium-ion battery system.The pack is located in the rear cargo area.The high-voltage battery system uses anair-cooled system to regulate thehigh-voltage battery temperature and helpmaximize high-voltage battery life.
Note:The high-voltage battery is equippedwith air vents in the package tray that helpto regulate its temperature. It is importantto keep these openings free of obstructions.Do not block the flow of cabin air to thisarea.
HIGH-VOLTAGE SERVICEDISCONNECT
The high-voltage service disconnect turnsoff power from the high-voltage battery.
Note:There is a disconnect circuit in yourvehicle. Disconnecting the circuit willautomatically disable the high-voltagebattery.
To disable the battery and stop allhigh-voltage electric activity in the vehicleyou can access the high-voltagedisconnect circuit. To do this, you mustunplug the circuit from the circuit portconnected to the battery.
The high-voltage service disconnect islocated behind the rear fold down seats.
Note:The service disconnect has an outerlever to aid in the proper seating of theservice disconnect lever. Remove this todisconnect the high-voltage servicedisconnect.

Service Disconnect Location for EnergiVehicles
Disabling the High-Voltage Battery
1. Fold down the rear seats.
2. Locate the access door and removethe plastic cover.
3. Pull the outer cover off to expose theservice disconnect lever.
4. Slide the handle on the servicedisconnect outboard to the right. ForEnergi vehicles slide the handleoutboard and to the left.
5.Pull the handle toward you and removethe circuit from the vehicle to disablethe high-voltage battery.
Reactivating the High-Voltage Battery
Note:If you have manually disconnectedyour high-voltage shut off circuit, you willneed to reconnect the circuit before you canreactivate it. The vehicle will detect if theelectrical system is safe and reactivateautomatically.

CLEANING THE INTERIOR
WARNINGS
Do not use cleaning solvents, bleachor dye on the vehicle's seatbelts, asthese actions may weaken the beltwebbing.
On vehicles equipped withseat-mounted airbags, do not usechemical solvents or strongdetergents. Such products couldcontaminate the side airbag system andaffect performance of the side airbag in acrash.
For fabric, carpets, cloth seats and seatsequipped with side airbags:
•Remove dust and loose dirt with avacuum cleaner.
•Remove light stains and soil withMotorcraft Professional StrengthCarpet & Upholstery Cleaner.
•If grease or tar is present on thematerial, spot-clean the area first withMotorcraft Spot and Stain Remover. InCanada, use Motorcraft Multi-PurposeCleaner.
•If a ring forms on the fabric after spotcleaning, clean the entire areaimmediately (but do not oversaturate)or the ring will set.
•Do not use household cleaningproducts or glass cleaners, which canstain and discolor the fabric and affectthe flame retardant abilities of the seatmaterials.
CLEANING THE INSTRUMENT
PANEL AND INSTRUMENT

WARNING
Do not use chemical solvents orstrong detergents when cleaning thesteering wheel or instrument panelto avoid contamination of the airbagsystem.
Note:Follow the same procedure ascleaning leather seats for cleaning leatherinstrument panels and leather interior trimsurfaces. See Cleaning Leather Seats(page 278).
Clean the instrument panel and clusterlens with a clean, damp and soft cloth,then use a clean, dry and soft cloth to drythese areas.
•Avoid cleaners or polishes that increasethe gloss of the upper portion of theinstrument panel. The dull finish in thisarea helps protect you fromundesirable windshield reflection.
•Do not use any household cleaningproducts or glass cleaners as thesemay damage the finish of theinstrument panel, interior trim andcluster lens.
•Wash or wipe your hands clean if youhave been in contact with certainproducts such as insect repellent andsuntan lotion to avoid possible damageto the interior painted surfaces.
•Do not allow air fresheners and handsanitizers to spill onto interior surfaces.If a spill occurs, wipe off immediately.Your warranty may not cover thesedamages.
If a staining liquid like coffee or juice hasbeen spilled on the instrument panel or oninterior trim surfaces:
