Opening a Rear Door from theInside
Pull the interior door handle twice tounlock and open a rear door. The first pullunlocks the door and the second pullopens the door.
Activating Intelligent Access (If
Equipped)
General Information
You can unlock and lock the vehiclewithout taking the keys out of your pocketor purse when your passive key is within3 ft (1 m) of your vehicle. Passive entry usesa sensor on the back of the front doorhandle for unlocking and a separate sensoron the face of each door handle for locking.
The system does not function if:
•The vehicle battery has no charge.
•The key battery has no charge.
•The key frequencies have jammed.
Note:The system is available on the frontdoors only.
Note:The system may not function if thekey is close to metal objects or electronicdevices, for example keys or a cell phone.
Note:If the system does not function, usethe key blade to lock and unlock yourvehicle. See Remote Control (page 52).
Note:The system also unlocks and locksthe luggage compartment.
Unlocking Using Passive Entry
With your passive key within 3 ft (1 m) ofyour vehicle, touch the unlock sensor onthe back of the door handle for a briefperiod and then pull on the door handle tounlock, being careful not to touch the locksensor at the same time, or to pull the doorhandle too quickly. The system requires abrief delay to authenticate your passivekey.

Flashing the Headlamp High Beam
Slightly pull the lever toward you andrelease it to flash the headlamps.
AUTOLAMPS
WARNING: The system does notrelieve you of your responsibility to drivewith due care and attention. You mayneed to override the system if it does notturn the headlamps on in low visibilityconditions, for example daytime fog.
When the lighting control is in theautolamps position, the headlamps turnon in low light situations, or when thewipers turn on.
The headlamps remain on for a period oftime after you switch the ignition off. Usethe information display controls to adjustthe period of time that the headlampsremain on.
Note: If you switch the autolamps on, youcannot switch the high beams on until thesystem turns the low beams on.
Windshield Wiper ActivatedHeadlamps
When you switch the autolamps on, theheadlamps turn on within 10 seconds ofswitching the wipers on. They turn offapproximately 60 seconds after you switchthe windshield wipers off.
The headlamps do not turn on with thewipers:
•During a single wipe.
•When using the windshield washers.
•If the wipers are in intermittent mode.
Note:If you switch the autolamps and theautowipers on, the headlamps turn on whenthe windshield wipers continuously operate.
INSTRUMENT LIGHTING
DIMMER
Note:When disconnecting the battery orwhen it runs out of charge, the illuminatedcomponents turn to the maximum setting.

Front Fog Lamp Indicator
It illuminates when you switchthe front fog lamps on.
DIRECTION INDICATORS
Switching the Direction IndicatorsOn and Off
Push the lever up or down to switch thedirection indicators on.
Note:Tap the lever up or down to make thedirection indicators flash three times.
Set the lever to the middle position toswitch the direction indicators off.
Direction Indicator
Flashes when you switch thedirection indicators on.
Note:An increase in the rate of flashingwarns of a failed indicator bulb.
INTERIOR LAMPS

If you set the switch to the door position,the courtesy lamp illuminates when youunlock or open any door. If you leave a dooropen with the ignition switched off, thecourtesy lamp goes off after some time toprevent your vehicle battery from losingcharge. To switch it back on, switch theignition on for a short time.
The courtesy lamp also illuminates whenyou switch the ignition off. It goes off aftera short time or when you start the engine.
If you set the switch to the all on positionwith the ignition switched off, the courtesylamp illuminates. It goes off after a shorttime to prevent your vehicle battery fromlosing charge. To switch it back on, switchthe ignition on for a short time.

Press the edge of the lamp lens to switchon and off.
If you switch the ignition off, the readinglamps turn off after a short time.
Note:This is to prevent the vehicle batteryfrom losing charge.
Rear Courtesy Lamp
For rear lamps without a position switch,press the lamp lens to switch on and off.
AMBIENT LIGHTING (IF EQUIPPED)
Use the touchscreen to select thefollowing:
Select the settings option on thefeature bar.
Select ambient lighting.
Switching Ambient Lighting On
Touch a color once.
Changing the Color
Touch any color once.
Adjusting the Brightness
Drag the selected color up or down.
Switching Ambient Lighting Off
Touch the selected color once or drag theselected color down to zero brightness.
CARGO LAMPS
Press the button on the lightingcontrol to switch on the lamps.
Note:The lamps turn off when you reach3 mph (5 km/h).
Note:The cargo lamps gradually turn offafter a period of time.

Note: In vehicles without global openingand closing, you cannot operate the rearwindows from driver side when you pressthe safety switch. In certain vehicles, youcannot operate front passenger windowsas well.
Press the control to lock or unlock the rearwindow controls.
Resetting the Memory of theElectric Windows - Vehicle withOne Touch Up/Down on DriverSide only
Note:The bounce back feature remainsturned off until you reset the memory.
In the event of a flat battery or after thebattery is disconnected from the vehicle,you must reset the memory for the driverwindow.
1.Open the window and then try to closeit using the one-touch feature.
2.Lift and hold the switch to the secondaction point until you fully close thewindow.
3.Lift and hold the switch for more thantwo seconds and release.
4.Open the window using the first actionpoint and try to close it automaticallyusing the second action point.
5.If the window does not open or closeautomatically when you press theswitch or lift it to the second actionpoint, repeat the procedure.
Safety Mode
Note:The anti-trap function is not activeduring this procedure.
If the system detects a malfunction, itenters a safety mode. The windows movea little at a time and then stop again. Closethe windows by pressing the switch againwhen the windows stop moving.
Contact an authorized dealer.
Bounce-Back
The window automatically stops andreverses some distance if it detects anobstacle when closing.
Overriding the Bounce-Back Feature
WARNING: If you overridebounce-back, the window does notreverse if it detects an obstacle. Takecare when closing the windows to avoidpersonal injury or damage to yourvehicle.
Proceed as follows to override thisprotection feature when there is aresistance, for example in winter:
1.Close the window twice until it reachesthe point of resistance and let itreverse.
2.Close the window a third time to thepoint of resistance. The bounce-backfeature is now disabled and you canclose the window manually. Thewindow will go past the point ofresistance and you can close it fully.
See an authorized dealer as soon aspossible if the window does not close afterthe third attempt.
Resetting the Bounce-Back Feature
Note:The bounce-back feature remainsturned off until you reset the memory.

If you disconnect the battery, you mustreset the bounce-back memory separatelyfor each window.
1.Lift and hold the switch until you fullyclose the window.
2.Release the switch.
3.Lift the switch again for one second.
4.Press and hold the switch until you fullyclose the window.
5.Release the switch.
6.Lift and hold the switch until you fullyclose the window.
7.Open the window and then try to closeit automatically.
8.Reset and repeat the procedure if thewindow does not close automatically.
EXTERIOR MIRRORS
Power Exterior Mirrors (If Equipped)
WARNING: Do not adjust themirrors when your vehicle is moving. Thiscould result in the loss of control of yourvehicle, serious personal injury or death.

WARNING LAMPS AND
INDICATORS
The following warning lamps andindicators alert you to a vehicle conditionthat may become serious. Some lampsilluminate when you start your vehicle tomake sure they work. If any lamps remainon after starting your vehicle, refer to therespective system warning lamp for furtherinformation.
Note:Some warning indicators appear inthe information display and operate thesame as a warning lamp but do notilluminate when you start your vehicle.
Adaptive Cruise Control Indicator
(If Equipped)
It illuminates when you switchthe system on.
It illuminates white when thesystem is in standby mode. It illuminatesgreen when you set the adaptive cruisespeed.
See Using Adaptive Cruise Control(page 193).
Anti-Lock Braking System
If it illuminates when you aredriving, this indicates amalfunction. Your vehiclecontinues to have normal braking withoutthe anti-lock brake system function. Haveyour vehicle checked as soon as possible.
Automatic Headlamp High BeamIndicator (If Equipped)
It illuminates when the systemturns the headlamp high beamon.

Auto-Start-Stop Indicator
It illuminates when the enginehas automatically stopped. Itflashes to inform you when theengine needs to restart. The indicator isshown with a strikethrough if the systemis not available.

Battery
It illuminates when you switchthe ignition on.
If it illuminates when the engineis running this indicates a malfunction.Have your vehicle checked as soon aspossible.
Blind Spot Monitor (If Equipped)
It illuminates when you switchthe system off.
See Blind Spot InformationSystem (page 206).
Brake System Warning Lamp
WARNING: Driving your vehiclewith the warning lamp on is dangerous.A significant decrease in brakingperformance may occur. It may take youlonger to stop your vehicle. Have yourvehicle checked as soon as possible.Driving extended distances with theparking brake engaged can cause brakefailure and the risk of personal injury.
Note:Indicators vary depending on region.

Battery and Charging System

The battery management system detects an extended low-voltage condition. Your vehicle will disable various featuresto help preserve the battery. Turn off as many of the electricalloads as soon as possible to improve system voltage. If thesystem voltage has recovered, the disabled features willoperate again as normal.
Low Battery FeaturesTemporarily Turned Off
The battery management system determines that the batteryis at a low state of charge. Turn your ignition off as soon aspossible to protect the battery. This message will clear onceyou restart your vehicle and the battery state of charge hasrecovered. Turning off unnecessary electrical loads will allowfaster battery state-of-charge recovery.
