PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
MyKey allows you to program keys withrestricted driving modes to promote gooddriving habits. You can program therestrictions to all keys except one. Any keysthat you did not program are administratorkeys or admin keys.
You can use admin keys to:
•Create a MyKey with certain vehiclerestrictions.
•Program certain MyKey settings.
•Clear all MyKey restrictions.
After you program a MyKey, you can viewthe following information through theinformation display:
•The total number of admin keys andMyKeys for your vehicle.
•The total distance a MyKey drivertraveled with your vehicle.
Note:Every MyKey receives the samerestrictions and settings. You cannotprogram them individually.
Note:For vehicles equipped with apush-button start switch: When both aMyKey and an admin key are present whenyou start your vehicle, the system recognizesthe admin key only.
Standard Settings
Not every vehicle includes the featureslisted below. If your vehicle has thisequipment, then you cannot change thefollowing settings when using a MyKey:
•Seatbelt reminder or Belt-Minder™.MyKey mutes the audio system untildrivers, and in some instances,passengers, fasten their seatbelts.Note: If your vehicle includes anAM/FM radio or a very basic audiosystem, then the radio may not mute.
•Earlier low-fuel warning. The low-fuelwarning activates earlier for MyKeydrivers, giving them more time to refuel.
•Certain driver alerts, stability systemsor parking aids turn on automaticallywhen you use the MyKey system. Forexample, Blind Spot InformationSystem (BLIS), cross traffic alert, lanedeparture warning or forward collisionwarning.Note: MyKey drivers may beable to turn the lane departure warningfeature off, but this feature turns backon automatically with every new keycycle.
•Restricted touchscreen operation insome markets. For example, MyKeymay prevent manual navigationdestination input while the vehicle is inany gear other than park (P) or whenthe vehicle reaches a certain rate ofspeed.
•Satellite radio adult contentrestrictions, if this feature is availablein your market.
Optional Settings
You can configure certain vehicle featuresettings when you first create a MyKey. Youcan also change the settings afterwardwith an admin key.

•You apply the parking brake with theignition on.
•Your vehicle has a brake fault or lowbrake fluid level, regardless of parkingbrake position.
If the lamp illuminates when youare moving, you may have theparking brake applied. Make surethat the parking brake is off.Have your vehicle checked assoon as possible if the lampcontinues to illuminate.
Cruise Control Indicator (If Equipped)
It illuminates when you switchthe system on.
See Using Cruise Control(page 192).
Direction Indicator
Flashes when the left or rightdirection indicator or the hazardflasher turns on. An increase inthe rate of flashing warns of a failedindicator bulb.
Door Ajar Warning Lamp
It illuminates when you switchthe ignition on and remains on ifany door is open.
Electronic Locking Differential (If
Equipped)
Illuminates when using theelectronic locking differential.
Engine Coolant TemperatureWarning Lamp
If it illuminates when your vehicleis moving, this indicates that theengine is overheating. Stop yourvehicle as soon as it is safe to do so andswitch the engine off. Have your vehiclechecked as soon as possible.

Fasten Seatbelt Warning Lamp
It illuminates and a chimesounds until you fasten theseatbelts.
Fasten Rear Seatbelt WarningLamp (If Equipped)
It illuminates and a chimesounds until you fasten the rearseatbelts.
Four-Wheel Drive Indicators (If
Equipped)
Illuminates when four-wheeldrive low is engaged.
Illuminates when four-wheeldrive high is engaged.
Front Airbag
If it fails to illuminate when youstart your vehicle, continues toflash or remains on, it indicatesa malfunction. Have the system checked.
Front Fog Lamp Indicator (If Equipped)
It illuminates when you switchthe front fog lamps on.

SITTING IN THE CORRECT
POSITION
WARNING: Sitting improperly, outof position or with the seatback reclinedtoo far can take weight off the seatcushion and affect the decision of thepassenger sensing system, resulting inserious injury or death in the event of acrash. Always sit upright against yourseat back, with your feet on the floor.
WARNING: Do not recline the seatbackrest too far as this can cause theoccupant to slide under the seatbelt,resulting in personal injury in the eventof a crash.
WARNING: Do not place objectshigher than the top of the seat backrest.Failure to follow this instruction couldresult in personal injury or death in theevent of a sudden stop or crash.
When you use them properly, the seat,head restraint, seatbelt and airbags willprovide optimum protection in the eventof a crash.
We recommend that you follow theseguidelines:
•Sit in an upright position with the baseof your spine as far back as possible.
•Do not recline the seat backrest so thatyour torso is more than 30 degreesfrom the upright position.
•Adjust the head restraint so that thetop of it is level with the top of yourhead and as far forward as possible.Make sure that you remaincomfortable.
•Keep sufficient distance betweenyourself and the steering wheel. Werecommend a minimum of 10 in(25 cm) between your breastbone andthe airbag cover.
•Hold the steering wheel with your armsslightly bent.
•Bend your legs slightly so that you canpress the pedals fully.
•Position the shoulder strap of theseatbelt over the center of yourshoulder and position the lap straptightly across your hips.
Make sure that your driving position iscomfortable and that you can maintain fullcontrol of your vehicle.
HEAD RESTRAINTS
WARNING: Fully adjust the headrestraint before you sit in or operate yourvehicle. This will help minimize the riskof neck injury in the event of a crash. Donot adjust the head restraint when yourvehicle is moving.

Removing the Seat Cushion
Super Cab
Folding the Seat Cushion
1.Place the passenger side seat bucklesbehind the elastic strap on the seatbackrest.
2.Place the driver side seat buckle behindthe elastic strap on the seat backrest.
3.Pull the tether straps.
4.Raise the seat cushion.
Note:When folding the cushion up, makesure that the seatbelt buckles are visible toan occupant and are not under the seat.
Unfolding the Seat Cushion
WARNING: Make sure that cargoand other objects are not trapped underthe seat cushion and that you return theseat cushion to the full-down position.Failure to do so may prevent the seatfrom operating properly, which couldincrease the risk of serious injury in acrash.

1.Push the seat cushion down.
2.Remove the seatbelt buckles frombehind the elastic strap on the seatbackrest.
Note:You must stow the cushion tetherstrap in the pocket provided.
Folding the Seat Backrest
WARNING: When folding the seatbackrest down, take care not to get yourfingers caught in the mechanism.
Note:Do not use the rear surface of the rearseat backrest as a load floor.
Note:Do not unlatch and fold the seatbackrest when the seat cushion is foldedup.
1.Pull the release strap up.
2.Push the seat backrest forward.
Unfolding the Seat Backrest
WARNING: Make sure that theseats and the seat backrests are secureand fully locked in their catches.
Note:When unfolding the seat backrest,make sure that the seatbelts are visible toan occupant and not caught behind theseat.
HEATED SEATS (IF EQUIPPED)
WARNING: People who are unableto feel pain to their skin because ofadvanced age, chronic illness, diabetes,spinal cord injury, medication, alcoholuse, exhaustion or other physicalconditions, must use caution when usingthe heated seat. The heated seat maycause burns even at low temperatures,

Note:You can crank the engine for a totalof 60 seconds without the engine startingbefore the starting system temporarilydisables. The 60 seconds does not have tobe all at once. For example, if you crank theengine three times for 20 seconds eachtime, without the engine starting, youreached the 60-second time limit. Amessage appears in the information displayalerting you that you exceeded the crankingtime. You cannot attempt to start the enginefor at least 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, youare limited to a 15-second engine crankingtime. You need to wait 60 minutes beforeyou can crank the engine for 60 secondsagain.
Before starting your vehicle, check thefollowing:
•Make sure all occupants have fastenedtheir seatbelt.
•Make sure the headlamps andelectrical accessories are off.
•Make sure the parking brake is on.
•Make sure the transmission is in park(P).
•Switch the ignition on.
Vehicles with an Ignition Key
Note:Do not touch the accelerator pedal.
1.Fully depress the brake pedal.
2.Turn the key to the start position tostart the engine.
Note:The engine may continue crankingfor up to 15 seconds or until it starts.
Note:If you cannot start the engine on thefirst try, wait for a short period and try again.
Vehicles with Keyless Start
Note:Do not touch the accelerator pedal.
Note:You must have your intelligent accesskey in your vehicle in order to shift thetransmission out of park (P).
1.Fully depress the brake pedal.
2.Press the push button ignition switch.
The system does not function if:
•The passive key frequencies arejammed.
•The key battery has no charge.
If you are unable to start your vehicle, dothe following:
1.Open the floor console storagecompartment lid.
2.Insert the passive key into the backupslot.
3.With the key in this position, press thebrake pedal then press the push buttonignition switch to switch the ignition onand start your vehicle.
Fast Restart
The fast restart feature allows you torestart your vehicle within 20 seconds ofswitching it off, even if it does not detecta valid passive key. After 20 seconds, youcan no longer start your vehicle if it doesnot detect a valid passive key. Within 20seconds of switching the engine off, pressthe brake pedal and press the push buttonignition switch.

Automatic Engine Restart
Any of the following conditions will resultin an automatic restart of the engine:
•Your foot is removed from the brakepedal.
•You press the accelerator pedal.
•You press the accelerator and thebrake pedal at the same time.
•The driver safety belt becomesunfastened or the driver door is ajar.
•The transmission is moved into reverse(R).
•Your vehicle is moving.
•The battery is not within optimaloperating conditions.
•The maximum engine off time isexceeded.
•When you press the Auto-Start-Stopbutton while the engine is stoppedautomatically.
•The heated windshield is turned on.
Any of the following conditions may resultin an automatic restart of the engine:
•The blower fan speed is increased orthe climate control temperature ischanged.
•An electrical accessory is turned on orplugged in.
Disabling Auto-Start-Stop
Press the Auto-Start-Stopbutton located on the centerconsole to switch the system off.The button will illuminate. The system willonly be deactivated for the current ignitioncycle. Press the button again to restoreAuto-Start-Stop function.
If your vehicle is in an Auto-Start-Stopstate and you shift the transmission toreverse without pressing the brake, amessage telling you to press the brakeappears. You must press the brake pedalwithin 60 seconds, or you will need to shiftto park and manually restart your vehicle.
Note:If the Shift to P, Restart Enginemessage appears and the amberAuto-Start-Stop indicator light is flashing,automatic restart is not available. Thevehicle must be restarted manually. SeeInformation Displays (page 96).

We recommend the use of a wheel lift anddollies or flatbed equipment to tow yourvehicle. Do not tow with a slingbelt. We donot approve a slingbelt towing procedure.If you tow your vehicle incorrectly, or byany other means, vehicle damage mayoccur.
We produce a towing manual for allauthorized tow truck operators. Have yourtow truck operator refer to this manual forproper hook-up and towing procedures foryour vehicle.
It is acceptable to have your two-wheeldrive vehicle towed with the front wheelson the ground (without dollies) and therear wheels off the ground.
We recommend towing a four-wheel drivevehicle with all wheels off the ground, suchas using a wheel lift and dollies or flatbedequipment. However, it is acceptable touse a wheel lift to raise the rear of yourvehicle so long as, depending on vehicleconfiguration, you perform the followingbefore towing:
•If your vehicle has an electronicshift-on-the-fly transfer case, makesure you switch the four-wheel drivecontrol to the 2H position beforetowing.
Note:Towing an electronic shift-on-the-flyfour-wheel drive vehicle with the frontwheels on the ground without disengagingthe front hubs may cause damage to theautomatic transmission.
Note:Towing a two-wheel drive vehicle oran electronic shift-on-the-fly four-wheeldrive vehicle with the rear wheels on theground for more than 50 mi (80 km) orfaster than 35 mph (56 km/h) may causedamage to the automatic transmission.

Your vehicle comes with frame-mountedfront recovery hooks. These hooks shouldnever have a load applied to them greaterthan the gross vehicle weight rating of yourvehicle.
Before using recovery hooks:
•Make sure all attaching points aresecure and capable of withstandingthe applied load.
•Never use chains, cables or tow strapswith metal hook ends.
•Only use recovery straps that have aminimum breaking strength two tothree times the gross vehicle weight ofthe stuck vehicle.
•Make sure the recovery strap is in goodcondition and free of visible cuts, tearsor damage.
