WARNING LAMPS AND
INDICATORS
The following warning lamps andindicators will alert you to a vehiclecondition that may become serious. Somelamps will illuminate when you start yourvehicle to make sure they work. If anylamps remain on after starting your vehicle,refer to the respective system warninglamp for further information.
Note:Some warning indicators appear inthe information display and function thesame as a warning lamp but do not displaywhen you start your vehicle.
Anti-Lock Braking System
If it illuminates when you aredriving, this indicates amalfunction. You will continueto have the normal braking system(without ABS) unless the brake systemwarning lamp is also illuminated. Have thesystem checked by your authorized dealer.
Battery
If it illuminates while driving, itindicates a malfunction. Switchoff all unnecessary electricalequipment and have the system checkedby your authorized dealer immediately.
Brake System
Illuminates when you engage theparking brake with the ignitionon.
If it illuminates when you are driving, checkthat the parking brake is not engaged. Ifthe parking brake is not engaged, thisindicates low brake fluid level or a brakesystem malfunction. Have the systemchecked immediately by your authorizeddealer.

WARNING
Driving your vehicle with the warninglamp on is dangerous. A significantdecrease in braking performancemay occur. It will take you longer to stopyour vehicle. Have your vehicle checked byyour authorized dealer immediately. Drivingextended distances with the parking brakeengaged can cause brake failure and therisk of personal injury.
Check Fuel Cap (If Equipped)
Illuminates when the fuel capmay not be properly installed.Continued driving with this lighton may cause the Service enginesoon warning indicator to come on.
Cruise Control (If Equipped)
Illuminates when you switch thisfeature on. See Using CruiseControl (page 176).
Direction Indicator
Illuminates when the left or rightturn signal or the hazard warningflasher is turned on. If theindicators stay on or flash faster, check fora burned out bulb.
Door Ajar
Displays when the ignition is onand any door is not completelyclosed.
Electronic Locking Differential
Illuminates when using theelectronic locking differential.
Engine Coolant Temperature
Illuminates when the enginecoolant temperature is high.Stop the vehicle as soon aspossible, switch off the engine and let cool.
Engine Oil
If it illuminates with the enginerunning or when you are driving,this indicates a malfunction.Stop your vehicle as soon as it is safe todo so and switch the engine off. Check theengine oil level. See Engine Oil Check(page 235).
Note:Do not resume your journey if itilluminates despite the level being correct.Have the system checked by your authorizeddealer immediately.
Fasten Safety Belt
It will illuminate and a chime willsound to remind you to fastenyour safety belt.
Front Airbag
If it fails to illuminate when youstart your vehicle, continues toflash or remains on, it indicatesa malfunction. Have the system checkedby your authorized dealer.
High Beam
Illuminates when you switch thehigh beam headlamps on. It willflash when you use theheadlamp flasher.
Hill Descent (If Equipped)
Illuminates when hill descent isswitched on.

GENERAL INFORMATION
WARNING

You can control various systems on yourvehicle using the information displaycontrols on the steering wheel. Theinformation display provides thecorresponding information.

The powertrain control module will intentionally turn theengine off due to your vehicle being in the final second of acountdown. The diesel engine shutdown is a (regulatory)requirement, which may be required of a particular dieselvehicle for sale in states requiring this feature. Refer to yourdiesel supplement for more information..
ENGINE TURNS OFF IN1 SECOND
The powertrain control module will intentionally turn theengine off due to your vehicle being in the final 30 seconds ofa countdown. The diesel engine shutdown for extended idlingis an optional feature. Refer to your diesel supplement formore information.
ENGINE TURNS OFF INXX SECONDS
Appears after the 30 second countdown. Refer to your dieselsupplement for more information.ENGINE TURNED OFF
In extremely cold weather, typically below –15°F (–26°C)and if the engine block heater is not utilized, your engine willnot respond to accelerator pedal movement for 30 seconds.This restriction allows your engine to circulate the oil properlyin order to avoid engine damage. You must have your vehicle serviced by an authorized dealerif approximately two hours after the EXHAUST OVERLOADEDDRIVE TO CLEAN message has displayed and you have notdriven your vehicle above 30 mph (48 km/h) for at least 20minutes to clean the diesel particulate filter. Refer to yourdiesel supplement for more information.
EXHAUST OVER LIMITSERVICE NOW
You are responsible for assuring that you operate your vehiclein a manner that allows diesel particulate filter cleaning tooccur. Ignoring the EXHAUST OVER LIMIT SERVICE NOWwarning message could lead to reduced drivability andcustomer expense, including damage to the diesel particulatefilter. Your new vehicle warranty may not cover this damage.
The water separator has reached a predetermined capacityand needs draining. Refer to your diesel supplement for moreinformation.
WATER IN FUEL DRAINFILTER SEE MANUAL
A low fuel pressure condition has occurred due to cold, lowfuel level or fuel filters need to be changed. Refer to your dieselsupplement for more information.

Rear Under Seat Storage (CrewCab) (If Equipped)
The rear seat has storage space locatedunder the seat cushion.
Lift up the lever and flip up the seatcushion to access the storage space andthe power point (A).
To remove the storage space divider,squeeze the sides and lift it from thestorage tub.
Use your vehicle key to lock the storagespace.
HEATED SEATS (IF EQUIPPED)
WARNING
People who are unable to feel painto their skin because of advancedage, chronic illness, diabetes, spinalcord injury, medication, alcohol use,exhaustion or other physical conditions,must exercise care when using the heatedseat. The heated seat may cause burnseven at low temperatures, especially ifused for long periods of time. Do not placeanything on the seat that insulates againstheat, such as a blanket or cushion. Thismay cause the heated seat to overheat.Do not puncture the seat with pins, needlesor other pointed objects. This may damagethe heating element which may cause theheated seat to overheat. An overheatedseat may cause serious personal injury.
Do not do the following:
•Place heavy objects on the seat.
•Operate the heated seat if water or anyother liquid is spilled on the seat. Allowthe seat to dry thoroughly.
•Operate the heated seats unless theengine is running. Doing so can causethe battery to lose charge.

To operate the heated seats, touch theheated seat symbol on the touchscreen tocycle through the various heat settings andoff. Warmer settings are indicated by moreindicator lights.
Rear Heated Seats (If Equipped)
WARNING
Persons who are unable to feel painto the skin because of advanced age,chronic illness, diabetes, spinal cordinjury, medication, alcohol use, exhaustion,or other physical conditions, must exercisecare when using the seat heater. The seatheater may cause burns even at lowtemperatures, especially if used for longperiods of time. Do not place anything onthe seat that insulates against heat, suchas a blanket or cushion, because this maycause the seat heater to overheat. Do notpuncture the seat with pins, needles, orother pointed objects because this maydamage the heating element which maycause the seat heater to overheat. Anoverheated seat may cause seriouspersonal injury.
Note:Do not do the following:

The rear seat heat controls are located onthe rear door armrest.
To operate the heated seats:
•Push the indicated side of the controlfor maximum heat.
•Push again to deactivate.
•Push the indicated side of the controlfor minimum heat.
•Push again to deactivate.
The heated seat module resets at everyignition run cycle. While the ignition is inthe on position, activate the high or lowheated seat switch to enable heatingmode. When activated, they will turn offautomatically when the engine is turnedoff.
The indicator light will illuminate when theheated seats have been activated.
