Controls
The seat heaters can be used when the power
mode is in ON.
Press the seat heater button:
Once - The HI setting (three indicators on)
Twice - The MID setting (two indicators on)
Three times - The LO setting (one indicator on)
Four times - The OFF setting (no indicators on)
When the power mode is turned on after it is
turned off, the previous setting is maintained.
Press the AUTO button:
Both the air conditioner and seat temperature
will automatically change to the setting most
suitable to the ambient environment. u When any seat heater button is pressed,
settings will switch to manual mode.
■Front Seat Heaters*1Front Seat Heaters*
Do not use the seat heaters even in LO when the
power system is off. U nder such conditions, the 12-
volt battery may be weakened, making the power
system difficult to start.
After a certain period of time, the strength setting for
the front seat heaters will automatically be reduced
by one level at a ti me until the front seat heaters shut
off. The elapsed time varies according to the interior
environment.
As time passes, the set temperature will fall, and
eventually the seat heater will shut off.
The seat heater may turn on if sensors detect weight
on the passenger seat due to luggage, etc.
To prevent automatic activation, you can turn off
automatic climate control for the front seat. 2 Customized Features P. 318

Persons with a diminished ability to sense
temperature (e.g., persons with diabetes,
lowerlimb nerve damage, or paralysis) or
with sensitive skin should not use seat
heaters.

The seat heaters or ve ntilators can be used
when the power mode is in ON.
The seat heaters: Use them to warm up the
seat.
The seat ventilators: Use them when you want
to ventilate the surface of the seats. When
used with the air conditioning, the surface of
the seats will become easier to cool.
Press the seat heater or the seat ventilation
button:
Once - The HI setting (three indicators on)
Twice - The MID setting (two indicators on)
Three times - The LO setting (one indicator on)
Four times - The OFF se tting (no indicators on)

Controls
Use the system when the power system is on.
1. Press the AUTO button.
2. Adjust the interior temperature using the dr iver’s side or passenger’s side control
dial.
3. Press the (on/off) button to cancel.
■Switching between the recirc ulation and fresh air modes
Press the (recirculation) button and switch the mode depending on
environmental conditions.
Recirculation mode (indicator on): Recirculates air from the vehicle’s interior through
the system.
Fresh air mode (indicator off): Maintains outside ventilation. Keep the system in
fresh air mode in normal situations.

When Driving
Turning on the Power
1.Make sure the parking brake is applied.
u The parking brake and brake system
indicator (red) comes on for 30 seconds
when you pull up the electric parking
brake switch.
2. Check that the tr ansmission is in
(P, then
depress the brake pedal.
u Although it is possible to start the vehicle
in
(N, it is safer to start it in (P.
3. Without depressing th e accelerator pedal,
press the POWER button while depressing
the brake pedal.
1 Turning on the Power
Keep your foot firmly on the brake pedal when
starting the power system.
The engine is harder to st art in cold weather and in
thinner air found at altit udes above 8,000 feet (2,400
meters).
When turning on the power system in cold weather,
turn off all electrical accessories such as the lights,
climate control system, and rear defogger in order to
reduce the 12-volt battery drain.
If you live in a region where winter is extremely cold,
an engine block heater will improve starting and
warming of the engine. Cons ult a dealer for details.
If the exhaust system sounds abnormal or you can
smell exhaust gas inside the vehicle, have your vehicle
checked by a dealer. There may be a problem with
the engine or exhaust system.
The immobilizer system pr otects your vehicle from
theft.
If an improperly coded de vice is used, the power
system does not activate.

1Remote Engine Start
While the power system is on, the vehicle will
automatically preconditi on inside the vehicle.
When it is warm outside:
•The climate control system is activated in
recirculation mode.
When it is cold outside:
•The defroster is activated at a moderately warm
temperature.
•The rear defogger, heated door mirrors*, front seat
heaters* and heated steering wheel* are activated.
