7. Slide new cushion rings onto the fuel injectors.
8. Coat newO-ringswith clean engineoil, and putthem onthefuel injectors.
9. Insert the fuel injectors into the fuel rail first.
10. Coatnewseal rings with clean engine oil,and press them intothe intake manifold.
11. To prevent damage to the O-rings, installthe fuel injectors inthefuel rail first, then install them inthe intake manifold.
'12. Install and tighten the retainer nuts.
13. Connect the vacuum hoses and fuel return hose to the fuel pressure regulator, Connect the vacuum hoses and 2P
connector to the EVAP purge control solenoid valve.
14. Install the connectors on the fuel inl'ectors (D16YI engine; Install the air cleaner).
15. Turn the ignition switch ON (ll), butdo not operate the starter. After the tuel pump runs for approximately two seconds,
the fuel pressure in the fuel line rises. Repeat this two or three times, then check whether there is any fuel leakage.

Release Bearing
Installation
NOTE: Use only Super High Temp Urea Grease(P/N 08798 - 9002).
1. With the release fork slid between the release bear-
ing pawls, install the release bearing on the main-
shaft while inserting the release fork through the
hole in the clutch housing.

Align the detent of the release fork with the release
fork bolt, then press the release fork over the
release fork bolt sequarely.

3. Move the release fork right and left to make surethat it fits properly against the release bearing, and
that the release bearing slides smoothly.
4. Install the release fork boot; make sure the bootseals around the release fork and clutch housino.

Transmission Housing
Removal
NOTE: Place the clutch housing on two pieces of wood
thick enough to keep the mainshaft from hitting the
workbench.
1. Remove the back-up light switch.
2. Remove transmission hanger.

4.Loosen the transmission housing attaching bolts in
a crisscross pattern in several steps, then remove
them.
Remove the 32 mm sealing bolt.
Expand the snap ring on the countershaft ball bear-
ing, and remove it from the groove using a pair of
snap ring pliers.

Separate the transmission housing from the clutch
housing, and wipe it clean of the sealant.
Remove the thrust shim, oil guide plate. and oil gut-
ter plate from the transmission housing.

1. Remove the interlock guide bolt from under the
clutch housing.

Remove the shift arm B attaching bolt.
Remove the mainshaft and countershaft assemblies
with the shift fork from the clutch housinq.
NOTE: Before removing the mainshaft and counter-
shaft assemblies, tape the mainshaft splines to pro-
tect the seal.
Tape the mainshaftsplines.

1. Remove the differential assembly'
2. Remove the 28 mm plug bolt and lst/2nd select
spring.
3. Remove the shift arm C attaching bolt'

NOTE: Be careful notto lose the steel ball'
5. Remove the steel ball, spring, and collar'

6. Remove shift arms C and B, and the interlock, then
remove the reverse select spring and retainer'
7. Remove the shift arm A attaching bolt, the set ball
spring bolt, set spring, and steel ball'

10. Remove the magnet.

. Clean the thrust washer, spring washel and
thrust shim thoroughly belore installation.
. lnstall the thrust washer, spring washer and
thrust shim proPerlY.

7, Install the thrust washer and spring washer in the
mainshaft.
lnstall the mainshaft in the clutch housing
Place the transmission housing over the mainshaft
and onto the clutch housing.
Tighten the clutch and transmission housings with
several 8 mm bolts.
NOTE: lt is not necessary to use sealing agent
between the housings'

Tap the mainshaft with a plastic hammer.
Check the thrust clearance in the manner doscribsd
below.
