Check for an open in the SRS main ha.ness:
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable, then disconnect
the positive cable, and wait for three mrnrrtes
2. Disconnect the driver's airbag 2P connector from the
cable reel2P connector (see page 24 11)
3. Disconnect the SRS main harness 18P connector from
the SRS unit. Do not disconnect the special tool (2 0)
from the SRS main harness 2P connector'
4- Check resistance between the No. 10 terminal and No. 14
terminal of the SRS main harness 18P connector' There
should be apProx 2 0 3.0 0
ls the resislance as specified?
NOYES
Poor contact at the SRS m.in harness 18P connector;
check the connector'. ll the connector is OK, substituto a known_good SRS
unh. and rccheck,.lf the probl€m is still present, replace th€ SRS main
narness,
Ooen or incretsed resistance in the SRS m.in harness;
replac6 the harness.

Check tor a short to another wira or docroased tesistanco in
th€ SRS main hamess:1. Disconnect the battery negative cable, then disconnect
the positive cable, and wait tor three manutes.
2. Disconnect the driver's airbag 2P connector from the
cable reel 2P connector.3. Disconnect the SRS main harness 18P connector from
the SRS unit. Do not disconnect the special tool (2 0) Irom
the SRS main harness 2P connector.4. Check rosistance between the No. 10 terminal and No. 14
terminal of the SRS main harness 18P connoctor. There
should be approx. 2.0 - 3.0 f).

Check lor e short to power in lhe SRS main harness:
1. Disconnect the battery negative cable, then disconnect
the positive cable, and wait Ior three minutes.
2. Disconnect the driver's airbag 2P connector lrom the
cable reel 2P connector.3. Disconnect the SRS main harness 18P connector trom
the sRs unit.4. Remove the special tool (2 o) from the SRS main harness
2P connector,5. Reconnect the baftery positive cable, then reconnect the
negative cable.6. Connect a voltmeter between the No. 10 (+) terminal of
SRS main harness 18P connector and ground.
7. Turn the ignition switch ON lll), and measure voltage
There should be 0.5 V or less.
L Connect a voltmeter between the No. 14 (+) terminal of
the SRS main harness 18P connector and ground, and
measure voltage. There should be 0.5 V or less.

CAUTION: Whenever the ignition switch is ON (lll, ot

Try to reproduce the SRS indicator light:
1. Erase the DTC memory tsee page 24 15).
2. Turn the ignition switch ON (ll), and check that the SRS indi-
cator light comes on for about six seconds and goes off
Ch6ck for a Short to another wile or decreased resistance in
the dummy resistor:1. Turn the ignitaon switch OFF.
2. Remove the dummy resistor from the SRS main harness
2P connector.

the dummy resistor. There should be 1-5 - 2.5 O.
Check for a short to another wile or decrea36d r6istance in
the SRS main harness:1. Disconnect the battery negative cable, then d'sconnect

2. Disconnect the driver's airbag 2P connector from the
cable reel 2P connector (see page 24-l l)
3. Disconnect the SRS main harness 18P connector from
the sRs unit.NOTE: Do not connect the dummy resistor to the SRS
main harness 2P connector.
4. Check resistance between the No lO terrninal andNo lil
terminal of the SRS main harness 18P connector' There
should be 1 M0 or more.
