Driving
Turbo Engine Vehicle
Handling Precautions
The turbocharger is a high-precision device to obtain greater horsepower by
delivering a large volume of compressed air into the engine using a turbine driven by
the engine's exhaust gas pressure.
• When the engine is cold just after starting, avoid revving the engine or sudden
acceleration.
• Always replace the engine oil and engine oil filter according to the Maintenance
Minder. The turbine rotates at very high speeds over 100,000 rpm and its
temperature reaches over 1,292°F (700°C). It is lubricated and cooled by engine
oil. If you fail to replace the engine oil and filter at the scheduled distance or
interval, deteriorated engine oil may caus e failure such as sticking and abnormal
noise of the turbine bearing.1 Turbo Engine Vehicle
The scheduled maintenance intervals for replacing
the filter is indicated on the driver information
interface. Follow the information of when to replace
them. 2 Maintenance Minder
TM P. 563
The temperature gauge pointer is at the mark
when you restart the engi ne after driving under high
load conditions such as at high speed or in hilly
terrain. This is normal. The gauge goes down after
you idle or drive the vehi cle for about one minute.

Select the Maintenance Minder to see maintenance items that are due soon and to
see the percentage of life remaining in the engine oil.
When the engine oil life is less than 15%, a Maintenance Minder message will
appear every time you turn the ignition switch to ON
(w*1, reminding you to bring
your vehicle to a dealer for service.
*1: Models with the keyles s access system have an ENGINE START/STOP button instead of an
ignition switch.

—
When you select the Maintenance
Minder screen, it displays codes for
maintenance items due at the next
engine oil change, along with the
percentage of engine oil life
remaining.
—
Maintenance Due SoonThe engine oil life indicator starts to
appear along with other due-soon
maintenance item codes when the
remaining oil life drops to 15 percent. The engine oil is approaching the end
of its service life.
Maintenance Due NowThe remaining engine oil life is 5 to 1
percent. Press the button to
switch to another display. The engine oil has almost reached the
end of its service life, and the
maintenance items should be
inspected and serviced as soon as
possible.
Maintenance Past Due
The engine oil has passed its service
life, and a negative distance appears
after driving over 10 miles (U.S.
models) or 10 km (Canadian models).
The negative distance on the display
blinks. The engine oil life has passed.
The maintenance items must be
inspected and serviced immediately.

uuMaintenance Under the Hood uRecommended Engine Oil
Maintenance
Recommended Engine Oil
Oil is a major contributor to your engine's
performance and longevity. If you drive the
vehicle with insufficient or deteriorated oil,
the engine may fail or be damaged.
This seal indicates the oil is energy conserving
and that it meets the American Petroleum
Institute’s latest requirements.
Use a Honda Genuine Motor Oil or another
commercial engine oil of suitable viscosity for
the ambient temperature as shown.
■Synthetic oil
You may also use synthetic motor oil if it is labeled with the API Certification Seal
and is the specified viscosity grade.
• Honda Genuine Motor Oil
• Premium-grade 0W-20 detergent oil wi th an API Certification Seal on the
container.1 Recommended Engine Oil
Engine Oil Additives
Your vehicle does not require oil additives. In fact,
they may adversely affect the engine performance
and durability.

Maintenance
Oil Check
We recommend that you check the engi ne oil level every time you refuel.
Park the vehicle on level ground.
Wait approximately three minutes after turn ing the engine off before you check the
oil. 1.Remove the dipstick (orange).
2. Wipe the dipstick with a clean cloth or
paper towel.
3. Insert the dipstick back all the way into its
hole.
4. Remove the dipstick again, and check the
level. It should be between the upper and
lower marks. Add oil if necessary.1Oil Check
If the oil level is near or below the lower mark, slowly
add oil, being carefu l not to overfill.
Under certain driving conditions, it is normal for the
engine oil level to rise above the upper mark. If you
have a concern, consul t a dealer for details.
