Be caref ul when removing
this screw as the head of the screw
can strip out. Remove the screw at the base of
the transmitter with a small
Phillips-head screwdriver.
Remove the old battery and note
the polarity. Make sure the
polarity of the new battery is the
same ( side f acing down), then
insert it in the keypad.
To replace the battery:
Separate the keypad from the
transmitter by pushing any button
f rom outside. Place a cloth on the edge of the
keypad to prevent scratches, and
remove the upper half by carefully
prying on the edge with a coin.
Snap the two halves of the keypad,
then install the parts in reverse
order.

The hatch will lock or unlock when
you lock/unlock the driver’s door
with the key, the remote transmitter,
the master door lock switch, or the
locktabonthedriver’sdoor.
To unlock the hatch, turn the key
clockwise twice, push the rear of the
master door lock switch, or push
UNLOCK twice on the remote
transmitter.Keep the hatch closed at all times
while driving to avoid damaging the
hatch and to prevent exhaust gas
f rom getting into the interior. Seeon page

To open the hatch, push the release,
and lif t up. To close the hatch, use
thehandletolowerit,thenpress
down on the back edge.

If the power door lock system cannot
unlock the hatch, unlock it manually.If you need to unlock the hatch
manually, it means there is a
problem with the hatch. Have the
vehicle checked by your dealer.
Placeaclothonthetopsideof the
cover to prevent scratches, then use
a small f lat-tip screwdriver to remove
the cover on the back of the hatch. Push the release lever to the lower
left as shown, and push the hatch to
open it.

The height of your driver’s seat is
adjustable. To raise the seat,
repeatedly pull up the lever on the
outside of the seat cushion. To lower
the seat, push the lever down
repeatedly.
To change the seat-back angle of the
f ront seat, pull up the lever on the
outside of the seat bottom.
Once a seat is adjusted correctly,
rock it back and f orth to make sure it
is locked in position.
To adjust the seat f orward or
backward, pull up on the bar under
the seat cushion’s f ront edge. Move
the seat to the desired position, and
releasethebar.Trytomovetheseat
to make sure it is locked in position. Make all adjustments bef ore you
start driving.

Your vehicle is equipped with head
restraints in all seating positions to
help protect you and your
passengers f rom the likelihood of
whiplash and other injuries.
They are most ef f ective when you
adjust them so the center of the back
of the occupant’s head rests against
the center of the restraint.The f ront and rear outer head
restraints adjust f or height. You
need both hands to adjust the
restraint. Do not attempt to adjust it
while driving. To raise it, pull upward.
To lower the restraint, push the
release button and push the restraint
down.

To remove a head restraint f or
cleaning or repair, pull it up as f ar as
it will go. Push the release button,
then pull the restraint out of the seat-
back.
When a passenger is seated in the
rear center seating position, the
center head restraint should be
adjusted up or down, to match the
passenger’s height. The seat-back must be f olded
forward (see page ) to get ceiling
clearance f or removal of the head
restraints.

Af ter a collision, the activated
restraint should return to its normal
position.
If the restraints do not return to their
normal position, or in the event of a
severe collision, have the vehicle
inspected by a Honda dealer.
This reduces the distance between
the restraint and the occupant’s head.
It also helps protect the occupants against the likelihood of whiplash
and injuries to the neck and upper
spine.
The driver’s and f ront passenger’s
seats have active head restraints. If
the vehicle is struck severely f rom
the rear, the occupant properly
secured with the seat belt will be
pushed against the seat-back and the
head restraint will automatically
move forward.
Make sure the head restraint locks
in position when you reinstall it. When reinstalling a head restraint,
put the legs back in place. Then
adjust it to the appropriate height
while pressing the release button.

Failure to reinstall, or correctly
reinstall, the head restraints can
result in severe injury during a
crash.
Always replace the head
restraints before driving.

Fold the seat-back forward. Unlock the seat-back by pulling up
the release lever on the outer side
of each rear seat-back.
The rear seat-backs can be f olded
down f or more cargo room.
Each side f olds down separately, so
you can still carry one or two
passengers in the rear seat.
Remove any items from the seat
before folding down the seat-back,
and make sure there are no items on
the f loor bef ore f olding down the
seats.
Lower the rear head restraints to
their lowest positions. If you f old
down the right side seat-back, also
adjust the rear center head
restraint to its lowest position.
For a head restraint system to work
properly:
Do not hang any items on the head
restraints, or f rom the restraint
legs.
Only use genuine Honda
replacement head restraints. Install each restraint in its proper
location. Do not place any object between
an occupant and the seat-back.
Do not put any heavy items on the
seat-back when it is folded down.

The lid of the console compartment
canbeusedasanarmrest.
Make sure all items in the cargo area
are secured. Loose items can f ly
f orward and cause injury if you have
to brake hard (See
on page ).
Make sure the seat-back and seat
cushion are locked securely and all
rear shoulder belts are positioned in
front of the rear seat-backs. Do not put any heavy items on the
seat-back when it is folded down. Reverse this procedure to return the
seat-back to the upright position. Pull
on the seat-back to make sure it is
latched. If the seat-back is not
latched f ully, the seat belt will not
work properly and you will see the
redindicatorbehindtherelease
lever as shown on the previous page. 258
