o Place the rear seat belt to the proper position. 4. Fold down the seatback forward. When you return the seatback to its upright position, always be sure it has locked into position by pushing on thetop of the seatback.

When you return the rear seatback to its upright position after being foldeddown: Be careful not to damage the seat belt webbing or buckle. Do not allowthe seat belt webbing or buckle to get caught or pinched in the rear seat. Ensure that the seatback is com-pletely locked into its upright posi- tion by pushing on the top of the seatback. Otherwise, in an accidentor sudden stop, the seat could fold down and allow cargo to enter the passenger compartment, whichcould result in serious injury or death.

SEAT BELTS
B150A01A-DAT The use of seat belts reduces the risk of accident injury by avoiding collision with the interior of the car and by pre- venting the occupants from being thrownout of the car. This makes them the most important safety feature available for you and your passengers. Adequateprotection is afforded only when the belt is worn correctly. You should always fasten and adjust your seatbelts beforethe car is put in motion and encourage your passengers to do the same.
WARNING:
Seat belts are designed to bear uponthe bony structure of the body, and should be worn low across the frontof the pelvis or the pelvis, chest and shoulders, as applicable; wearing the lap section of the belt across theabdominal area must be avoided. Seat belts should be adjusted as firmly as possible, consistent withcomfort, to provide the protection for which they have been designed. A slack belt will greatly reduce theprotection afforded to the wearer. Care should be taken to avoid con-tamination of the webbing with pol- ishes, oils and chemicals, and par- ticularly battery acid. Cleaning maysafely be carried out using mild soap and water. The belt should be re- placed if webbing becomes frayed,contaminated or damaged. It is es- sential to replace the entire assem- bly after it has been worn in a severeimpact even if damage to the assem- bly is not obvious. Belts should not be worn with straps twisted. Eachbelt assembly must only be used by one occupant; it is dangerous to put a belt around a child being carriedon the occupant's lap.
WARNING:
No modifications or additions should be made by the user which will either prevent the seat belt adjusting de-vices from operating to remove slack, or prevent the seat belt assembly from being adjusted to remove slack.

B160B01A-AAT Periodic Inspection It is recommended that all seat belts be inspected periodically for wear ordamage of any kind. Parts of the sys- tem that are damaged should be re- placed as soon as possible. B160C01A-AAT Keep Belts Clean and Dry Seat belts should be kept clean and dry. If belts become dirty, they can be cleaned by using a mild soap solution and warm water. Bleach, dye, strong detergents or abrasives should not beused because they may damage and weaken the fabric. B160D01A-DAT When to Replace Seat Belts Complete seat belt assembly or as- semblies should be replaced if thevehicle has been involved in an acci- dent. This should be done even if no damage is visible. Additional ques-tions concerning seat belt operation should be directed to your Hyundai Dealer. B170A02MC-AAT HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE FRONT SEAT SHOULDER BELT You can adjust the height of the shoul- der belt anchor to one of the 5 positions for maximum comfort and safety. If the height of the adjusting seat belt istoo near your neck, you will not be getting the most effective protection. The shoulder portion should be ad-justed so that it lies across your chest and midway over your shoulder near- est the door and not your neck.To adjust the height of the seat belt anchor, lower or raise the height ad- juster into an appropriate position. Toraise the height adjuster, pull it up.

Maintenance of Seat Belts When cleaning the seat belts, as recommended, avoid getting solutions into the buckle where they may attackthe lubricant or cause corrosion. Do not attempt to bleach or re-dye belts, as this may affect the webbing strength. NOTE: Do not attempt any form of modifi- cations or repairs to seat belt com- ponents. If the retractor or other components do not operate cor- rectly, call an authorised HyundaiDealer, who will take the necessary corrective action. Your authorised dealer will inspect all seat belt com-ponents at regular intervals and advise if replacement is required. Between these inspections youshould make regular checks to en- sure that foreign objects are not preventing complete buckle en-gagement.

To lower it, push it down while pressing the height adjuster button.Release the button to lock the anchor into position. Try sliding the height ad- juster to make sure that it has lockedinto the position. B180A01MC-GAT SEAT BELTS 3-Point System with Emergency Locking Retrac-torTo Fasten Your Belt To fasten your seat belt, pull it out of the retractor and insert the metal tab into the buckle. There will be an audible "click" when the tab locks into thebuckle. The seat belt automatically adjusts to the proper length only after the lap beltis adjusted manually so that it fits snugly around your hips. If you lean forward in a slow, easy motion, the beltwill extend and let you move around.

o If the shoulder belt anchor is not
moved, grasp the shoulder part of the belt and pull forward to thefull.
WARNING:
o The height adjuster must be in the locked position when the vehicleis moving.
o The misadjustment of height of the shoulder belt could reduce theeffectiveness of the seat belt in acrash.
! CAUTION:
o Adjust the shoulder belt height when you sit well back in the seat.

B200A01S-GAT Adjusting Your Seat Belt You should place the belt as low as possible on your hips, not on yourwaist. If the belt is located too high on your body, you could slide under it in case of an accident or a sudden stop.This could result of death, serious in- jury or property damage. Both arms should not be under or over the belt.Rather, one should be over and the other under, as shown in the illustration. Never wear the seat belt under the armnearest the door.
If there is a sudden stop or impact,however, the belt will lock into position.It will also lock if you try to lean forward too quickly. Check to make sure that the belt is properly locked and that thebelt is not twisted. NOTE: If the seat belt is not fastened when the ignition key is turned from the"OFF" position to the "ON" position, the seat belt warning will activate to remind the driver to fasten the seatbelt as follows.
*1) When the ignition key is turned from
"OFF" position to "ON" within 1 minute.
*2) The switch returns to "ON" when
you let go of the key.
*3) If the vehicle speed exceeds 9km/ h, the seat belt chime also sounds for about 1~2 minutes.If the vehicle speed is below 9km/h,1 minute later the seat belt chime also sounds for about 1~2 minutes.
NOTE: If the driver's seat belt is operated in this order "unbuckled

unbuckled" within 9 seconds after the seat belt is buckled, the seat belt warning light and chime will notactivate.

B210A02A-DAT To Release the Seat Belt The seat belt is released by pressing the release button in the locking buckle. When it is released, the belt shouldautomatically draw back into the retrac- tor. If this does not happen, check the belt to be sure it is not twisted, then tryagain. If the seat belt does not draw back into the retractor after checking for anytwists have the belt inspected by a Hyundai dealer.

CHILD RESTRAINT SYSTEM

WARNING:
When fastening the outboard seatbelts or the centre seat belt, make sure they are inserted into the cor-rect buckles to obtain maximum pro- tection from the seat belt system and assure proper operation.

o To disconnect the metal tab (A) from the buckle (B), insert a nar- row-ended tool into the groovelocated on the buckle (B).
o Lock the metal tab (A) and the
buckle (B) immediately after fold-ing rear seatbacks up. B230A03A-DAT If the child is old enough to sit alone and the car is not equipped with a proper child or infant seat, the child should be placed in the rear seat andrestained with a lap/sash belt. Child restraint systems are designed to be secured in vehicle seats by lap beltsor the lap belt portion of a lap/shoulder belt, or by a tether anchor and/or ISOFIX anchors (If Installed).
WARNING:
o Child restraint anchorages are designed to withstand only thoseloads imposed by correctly fittedchild restraints. Under no circum- stances are they to be used for adult seat belts harnesses or forattaching other items or equip- ment to the vehicle.
o Since a safety belt or child re- straint system can become veryhot if it is left in a closed vehicle, be sure and check the seat coverand buckles before placing a child there.

B230B01E-DAT Using a Child Restraint System For small children and babies, the use of a child seat or infant seat is required. This child seat or infant seat should beof appropriate size for the child and should be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. It isfurther required that the seat be placed in the vehicle's rear seat since this can make an important contribution tosafety. o When the child restraint systemis not in use, store it in the boot or fasten it with a safety belt so that it will not be thrown forward in
the case of a sudden stop or acci-dent.
o A child restraint system should be
placed in the vehicle's rear seatsince this can make an important contribution to safety.
o Unrestrained children should not
be carried in the car. Holding achild in your arms is not a satis- factory substitute for a child re- straint system. A child held in this manner can be crushed be-tween your body and the interior of the car.
o Never allow a child to be held in
a person's arms while they are ina moving vehicle. This could result in serious in-jury or death to the child in the event of an accident or sudden stop. Holding a child in a movingvehicle does not offer protection during an accident, even if the person holding the child is wear-ing a seat belt. o Never use an infant carrier or child
safety seat that "hooks" over aseatback; it may not provide ad- equate security in an accident.
o Under all circumstances the at- taching bolt must be engaged atleast 5 full threads in the anchor- age. If you are in doubt with anyaspect of this installation please contact an authorised Hyundai dealer.
