CLIMATE CONTROL AIR FIL- TER
!
The climate control air filter is located in the passenger cabin in front of the evaporator unit behind the glove box. It functions to decrease the amount ofpollutants entering the car. To replace the climate control air filter, refer to the page 6-16.

o Replace the filter every 15,000 km (10,000 miles) or once a year. If the car is being driven in severe con-ditions such as dusty, rough roads, more frequent climate con- trol air filter inspections andchanges are required.

If, however, you drive very little, your vehicle should be serviced at least every 12 months. Under severe driving conditions, more frequent maintenance is required.

o Rear Brake Drums/Linings,
Hand Brake
Check the rear brake drums and lin- ings for scoring, burning, leaking fluid, broken parts, and excessive wear.Inspect the hand brake system in- cluding the hand brake lever and ca- bles. For detailed service procedures,refer to the Shop Manual.

o Air Cleaner Filter A Genuine Hyundai air cleaner filter is recommended when the filter is re- placed. F060J01A-AAT
o Spark Plugs Make sure to install new spark plugs of the correct heat range. F070C02A-AAT
o Coolant The coolant should be changed at the intervals specified in the mainte- nance schedule.

o Automatic Transaxle Fluid
The fluid level should be in the "HOT" range of the dipstick, after the engine and transaxle are at normal operating temperature. Check the automatictransaxle fluid level with the engine running and the transaxle in neutral, with the hand brake properly applied.Use Hyundai Genuine ATF SP-III, DIA- MOND ATF SP-III, SK ATF SP-III or other brands approved by HyundaiMotor Co., when adding or changing fluid. o Brake Hoses and Lines
Visually check for proper installation, chafing, cracks, deterioration and any leakage. Replace any deteriorated or damaged parts immediately. F070G02A-AAT
o Brake Fluid
Check brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir. The level should be between "MIN" and "MAX" marks onthe side of the reservoir. Use only hydraulic brake fluid conforming to DOT 3 or DOT 4.

o Manual Transaxle Oil
Inspect the manual transaxle oil ac-

8CHANGING THE AIR CLEANER FILTER

The replacement of air cleaner filter is performed in the following manner.
1. Unsnap the clips around the cover.
2. When this is done, the cover can be lifted off, the old filter removed and the new filter put in its place.
Genuine Hyundai replacement parts arerecommended.
!! CAUTION:
o Engine coolant can damage the finish of your car. If you spill cool- ant on the car, wash it off thor- oughly with clean water.
o The engine in your vehicle has aluminium engine parts and mustbe protected by an ethylene-gly-col base coolant to prevent corro- sion and freezing. Do not use hard (tap) water. Hardwater can cause engine damage from corrosion, overheating or freezing. WARNING:
The cooling fan is controlled by en- gine coolant temperature and may sometimes operate even when theengine is not running. Use extreme caution when working near the blades of the cooling fan so that youare not injured by a rotating fan blade. As the engine coolant tem- perature decreases, the fan will auto-matically shut off. This is a normal condition.

9WINDSHIELD WIPER BLADES
G080A02A-DAT The wiper blades should be carefully inspected from time to time and cleanedto remove accumulations of road film or other debris. To clean the wiper blades and arms, use a clean sponge or clothwith a mild soap or detergent and water. If the wipers continue to streak or smear the glass, replace them with GenuineHyundai Replacement parts or their equivalent.
CAUTION:
o Do not operate the wipers on dry glass. This can result in more rapid wear of the wiper blades andmay scratch the glass.
o Keep the blade rubber out of con-
tact with petroleum products suchas engine oil, petrol, etc.
CAUTION:
o Operating your vehicle without a proper air filter in place can resultin excessive engine wear.
o When removing the air cleaner
filter, be careful that dust or dirtdoes not enter the air intake. These may result in damage to the air cleaner filter.
