This type of seat belt combines the fea-
tures of both an emergency locking retrac-
tor seat belt and an automatic locking
retractor seat belt. To fasten your seat belt,
pull it out of the retractor and insert the
metal tab into the buckle.
There will be an audible "click" when the
tab locks into the buckle. When not secur-
ing a child restraint, the seat belt operates
in the same way as the driver's seat belt
(Emergency Locking Retractor Type). It
automatically adjusts to the proper length
only after the lap belt portion of the seat belt
is adjusted manually so that it fits snugly
around your hips. When the seat belt is
fully extended from the retractor to allow
the installation of a child restraint system,
the seat belt operation changes to allow
the belt to retract, but not to extend (Auto-
matic Locking Retractor Type). See page
1-39.NOTE:o Although the combination retractor
provides the same level of protection
for seated passengers in either emer-
gency or automatic locking modes, it
is recommended that seated passen-
gers use the emergency locking fea-
ture for improved convenience.
B190A02TG-AATSEAT BELTS-Front Passenger and
Rear Seat 3-Point System with Com-
bination Locking RetractorCombination retractor type seat belts are
installed in the rear seat positions to help
accommodate the installation of child re-
straint systems. Although a combination
retractor is also installed in the front passen-
ger seat position, Hyundai strongly recom-
mends that children always be seated in the
rear seat. NEVER place any infant restraint
system in the front seat of the vehicle.

with Emergency Locking RetractorTo fasten your seat belt, pull it out of the

NOTE:o If you are not able to pull out the seat
belt from the retractor, firmly pull the
belt out and release it. Then you will be
able to pull the belt out smoothly.
o If the driver's seat belt is not fastened
when the ignition key is turned to the
"ON" position, the seat belt warning
light will blink and the warning chime
will sound for approximately six sec-
onds to remind the driver to fasten the
driver's seat belt. See page 1-68.

WARNING:
o Never let anyone ride in the rear cen-
ter seat without fastening all metal
tabs and buckles as described in this
section. This seat belt is designed to
function as a typical 3-point restraint
(lap/shoulder belt). Using only the
shoulder portion or lap portion of the
belt can result in serious or fatal inju-
ries in the event of a collision or sud-
den stop.
o Never unlock the metal tab (A) and the
buckle (B) with the following excep-
tions.
(1) In case of folding rear seatbacks
down.
(2) If transporting an object on the
rear seat may cause damage to
the rear seat center belt.

To disconnect the metal tab (A) from the
buckle (B), insert a narrow-ended tool into
the groove located on the buckle (B).
WARNING:
Always lock metal tab (A) into buckle (B)
immediately after returning the rear
seatbacks to an upright position. This
portion of the rear center seat belt should
only be unbuckled when the rear
seatback is folded down.

(If Installed)
When the windshield wiper switch is placed
in the "AUTO" position, the rain sensor
located on the upper end of windshield
glass senses the amount of rainfall and
controls for the appropriate length of the
intervals between wipes appropriately.
If the ignition switch is turned "ON" when
the wiper switch is set in "AUTO" mode, or
wiper switch is set in "AUTO" mode when
the ignition switch is "ON", or the speed
control knob is turned toward the "c" po-
sition when the wiper switch is in "AUTO"
mode, wiper will operate once to perform
a self-check of the system. Set the wiper to
"OFF" position when the wiper is not in use.NOTE:If there is heavy accumulation of snow or
ice on the windshield glass, there will be
a 10 minute waiting period prior to the
operation of the windshield wipers. A) Intermittent wiper operation
B) Low-speed operation
C)High-speed operation
NOTE:To prevent damage to the wiper system,
do not attempt to wipe away heavy accu-
mulations of snow or ice. Accumulated
snow and ice should be removed manu-
ally. If there is only a light layer of snow
or ice, operate the heater in the defrost
mode to melt the snow or ice before
using the wiper.

CAUTION:
o Do not operate the switch continu-
ously for an unnecessary length of
time.
o Scraping ice from the mirror face could
cause permanent damage. To remove
any ice, use a sponge, soft cloth or
approved de-icer.

WARNING:
Be careful when judging the size or dis-
tance of any object seen in the passen-
ger side rearview mirror. It is a convex
mirror with a curved surface, and any
objects seen in this mirror are closer
than they appear.
B510C01TG-AATFOLDING THE OUTSIDE REARVIEW
MIRRORS (Manual Type)To fold the outside rearview mirrors, push
them towards the rear.
The outside rearview mirrors can be folded
rearward for parking in narrow areas.

The outside rearview mirror heater is actu-
ated in connection with the front/rear win-
dow defroster. To heat the outside rear-
view mirror glass, push in the switch for the
front/rear window defroster. The rearview
mirror glass will be heated for defrosting or
defogging and will give you improved rear
vision in inclement weather conditions.
Push the switch again to turn the heater off.
The outside rearview mirror heater auto-
