3RUNNING IN YOUR NEW HYUNDAI
B020A01S-EAT The longevity and performance of the vehicle are greatly affected by the care exercised during the first 1,000 miles of motoring. Because of modern manu-facturing techniques, rigid guidelines regarding maximum road speeds have become unnecessary. However, cer-tain precautions should be observed in order to obtain the best possible per- formance and useful life from the ve-hicle.
1) Do not race the engine without a
load (i.e revving the engine in neu- tral).
2) During the first 500 miles the maxi- mum engine speed should be re-stricted to 3,000 rpm and gradually increased thereafter.
3) Avoid prolonged constant speed operation. The internal componentsof the engine will become morequickly run in if the operation speed is varied during the running in pe- riod.
4) Never allow the engine to labour. Use the gearbox freely and avoidlarge throttle openings when theengine speed is below 1,500 rpm.BEFORE ENTERING THE VEHICLEAFTER ENTERING THE VEHICLE
YB020A1-E
o Ensure that all windows, mirrors
and lamps are clean.
o Check condition of all tyres.
o Ensure that no fluid leaks are evi-
dent.
o Ensure that the area around the vehicle is clear before driving off. YB020B1-E
o Ensure that all occupants fasten
and correctly adjust seat belts.
o Ensure that seat and head restraint positions are adjusted for optimum safety, control and comfort.
o Adjust interior and exterior rear view mirrors.
o Verify correct operation of lamps, horn and other electrical equipment.
o Ensure that warning lamps illumi-
nate when ignition is turned on.
NOTE: Fluid levels such as engine oil, en- gine coolant, brake and windscreenwasher fluid should be checked daily or at each refuelling, which- ever occurs sooner.

NOTE:
o Do not operate the washer for more
than 15 seconds continuously or when the fluid reservoir is empty.
o In icy or snowy weather, ensure that the wiper blades are not fro-zen to the glass prior to operat-ing the wipers.
o In areas where water freezes in
winter, use windscreen washer an-tifreeze.
Single Sweep Operation
OGK046049R
If a single wipe is desired, move thewindscreen wiper and washer controllever up.B350B01O-EAT Windscreen Washer Operation To use the windscreen washer, pull the wiper/washer lever toward the steering wheel. When the washers are operated, the wipers automatically make two passes across the windscreen. The washer continues to operate until thelever is released. OGK046048R B350C01S-DAT Adjustable Intermittent Wiper Operation To use the intermittent wiper feature, place the wiper switch in the "INT" position. With the switch in this posi- tion, the interval between wipes can bevaried from approximately 2 to 10 sec- onds by turning the interval adjuster barrel.

1. : The rear window wiper starts to
operate three times after the washer fluid sprays onto the rear window.
2.OFF 3.INT: The interval between wipes op- erates every 5 seconds inter-mittently.
4.ON : The rear window wiper starts
to operate continuously.
5. : The washer fluid will be sprayed onto the rear window and thewiper operates whilst the rearwindow wiper barrel is placed in this position. NOTE: Do not operate the washer continu- ously for more than 15 seconds or when the fluid reservoir is empty;this could damage the system. Do not operate the wiper when the win- dow is dry; this can result in scratch-ing as well as premature wiper blade wear. For the reason stated above,do notoperate the washer when the washer fluid reservoir is empty.

2DRIVING YOUR HYUNDAI
20
ZC170E1-E Windscreen Washers & Wipers The windscreen washer bottle should be filled with a solution of water and aproprietary winter screen wash addi- tive. The windscreen wipers should not be used if the blades are frozen to thewindscreen or if they are covered with snow, before this is removed. NOTE: Never allow undiluted screen washer fluid additive to spill upon the paintwork or use engine coolant anti-freeze since damage to the paintwork may result.
o When driving in extreme conditions, the windscreen wiper blades may fail to clear the screen properly due tothe formation of ice upon the blade edge. It will therefore be necessary to periodically remove such ice torestore their efficiency.
o If the power operated door mirrors
become frozen, attempts to adjustthese may damage the mechanism. o The formation of snow or ice build up
inside the wheel arches may inter-fere with the roadwheels or steering mechanism. In such instances, un- usual noises or an increase in steer-ing effort may result. Therefore, en- sure that the wheelarches are checked periodically and any accu-mulated snow or ice removed.
o It is advisable to carry emergency
equipment including, torch, shovel, tow rope, blankets etc., if a journey is to be undertaken into areas of severe road conditions.TRAILER OR VEHICLE TOWING
YC200A2-E If you are considering towing with your car, you should first check with your Local Laws to determine their legal requirements.Since laws vary from county to county, the requirements for towing trailers, cars, or other types of vehicles or appa-ratus may differ. Ask your Hyundai authorised repairer for further details before towing.
CAUTION:
Do not carry out any towing withyour car during it's first 1000 miles inorder to allow both the engine to have properly run-in and the clutch (manual transaxle) to have correctlybedded-in. Failure to heed this cau- tion may result in serious engine or transaxle damage.

MAINTENANCE PRECAU- TIONS
!
G020D01TG-EAT Improper or incomplete service may result in problems. This section gives instructions only for the maintenanceitems that are easy to perform.Several procedures should be done byHyundai authorised repairer. NOTE: Improper owner maintenance dur- ing the warranty period may affectwarranty coverage.
WARNING:
o Performing maintenance work on a vehicle can be dangerous. You can be seriously injured whilst performing some maintenanceprocedures. If you lack sufficient knowledge and experience or the proper tools and equipment to dothe work, have it done by Hyundai authorised repairer.
o Working under the bonnet with the engine running is dangerous. It becomes even more dangerouswhen you wear jewellery or loose clothing. These can become en- tangled in moving parts and re-sult in injury. Therefore, if you must run the engine whilst work- ing under the bonnet, make cer-tain that you remove all jewellery (especially rings, bracelets, watches, and necklaces) and allneckties, scarves, and similar loose clothing before getting near the engine or cooling fans.

SG080A3-EWINDSCREEN WIPER BLADES
The wiper blades should be carefully inspected from time to time and cleaned to remove accumulations ofroad film or other debris. To clean the wiper blades and arms, use a clean sponge or cloth with a mild soap ordetergent and water. If the wipers continue to streak or smear the glass, replace them with genuine Hyundaireplacement. NOTE: It is also important to ensure that the windscreen is regularly cleaned/ degreased using a proprietary glasscleaner. CAUTION:
o Do not operate the wipers on dry glass since rapid wear anddamage to the windscreen glassmay result.
o Keep the blade rubber out of contact with petroleum products such as engine oil, petrol etc.
o When the wiper blade is freezed in winter or the washer fluidreservoir is empty, the wiper may not operate for ten minutes. This isn't a mechanical troublebut the function protecting thewiper by operating circuit breaker inside of the wiper mo- tor.G080B01GK-GAT
