2FUEL RECOMMENDATIONS
B010A03A-GAT Use Unleaded Gasoline For Europe – For the optimal vehicle
performance, we recommend you to use unleaded gasoline with an octanerating of RON (Research Octane Num- ber) 95 /AKI (Anti Knock Index) 91 or higher. You may use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of RON 91~94/AKI 87~90 but it may result in slight performancereduction of the vehicle. Except Europe – Unleaded gasoline
with a Pump Octane Rating of 87 (Re- search Octane Number 91) or higher must be used in Hyundai vehicle. If leaded gasoline is used, it will causethe catalytic converter to become inef-fective and the emission control sys- tem to malfunction. This can also result in increased main-tenance expense. To avoid accidental use of leaded fuel, the large nozzle used with leaded gasoline at servicestations can not be inserted into fuel tank opening of Hyundai vehicle. NOTE:
o For some countries, Hyundai
vehicles are designed to use leaded gasoline. When you are going to use leaded gasoline, ask to Hyundai dealer whether leaded gasoline in your vehicle is available or not.
o Octane Rating of leaded gaso- line is same with unleaded one. B010B01A-AAT What About Gasohol? Gasohol (a mixture of 90% unleaded gasoline and 10% ethanol or grainalcohol) may be used in your Hyundai. However, if your engine develops driveability problems, the use of 100%unleaded gasoline is recommended. Fuels with unspecified quantities of alcohol, or alcohols other than ethanol, should not be used.
B010D01S-AAT Do not Use Methanol Fuels containing methanol (wood al- cohol) should not be used in your Hyundai. This type of fuel can reducevehicle performance and damage com- ponents of the fuel system.
CAUTION:
Your Hyundai's New Vehicle Lim- ited Warranty may not cover dam-age to the fuel system and perfor- mance problems that are caused by the use of methanol or fuels con-taining methanol.

3BREAKING IN YOUR NEW HYUNDAI
B010E01A-AAT Gasolines for Cleaner Air To help contribute to cleaner air, Hyundai recommends that you usegasolines treated with detergent addi- tives, which help prevent deposit for- mation in the engine. These gasolineswill help the engine run cleaner and enhance performance of the Emission Control System. B010F01A-AAT Operation in Foreign Countries If you are going to drive your Hyundai in another country, be sure to:
o Observe all regulations regarding
registration and insurance.
o Determine that acceptable fuel is
available. B020A01S-GAT During the First 2,000 Km (1,200 Miles) No formal "break-in" procedure is re- quired with your new Hyundai. How- ever, you can contribute to the eco-nomical operation and durability of your Hyundai by observing the following recommendations during the first 2,000km (1,200 miles).
o Don't drive faster than 88 km/h (55
mph).
o While driving, keep your engine
speed (rpm, or revolutions per minute) between 2,000 rpm and 4,000 rpm.
o Use moderate acceleration. Don't start, depress the accelerator pedalfully.
o For the first 300 km (200 miles), try to avoid hard stops.
o Don't lug the engine (in other words,
don't drive so slowly. In too high a gear that the engine "bucks" shift to a lower gear). o Whether going fast or slow, vary
your speed from time to time.
o Don't let the engine idle longer than 3 minutes at one time.
o Don't tow a trailer during the first 2,000 km (1,200 miles) of opera-tion.

B240B03GK-GAT SRS Components and Functions The SRS consists of the following com- ponents:
- Driver's Airbag Module
- Passenger's Airbag Module
- SRS Service Reminder Indicator (SRI)
- SRS Control Module (SRSCM) The SRSCM continually monitors all elements while the ignition is "ON" to determine if a frontal or near-frontal impact is severe enough to requireairbag deployment. B240B01LThe SRS service reminder indicator (SRI) on the instrument panel will illumi-nate for about 6 seconds after the ignition key is turned to the "ON" posi- tion or after the engine is started, afterwhich the SRI should go out. The airbag modules are located both in the center of the steering wheel and in the front passenger's panel above the glove box. When the SRSCM detects aconsiderable impact to the front of the vehicle, it will automatically deploy the airbags.
B240B02LUpon deployment, tear seams molded directly into the pad covers will sepa-rate under pressure from the expansion of the airbags. Further opening of the covers then allows full inflation of theairbags.
A fully inflated airbag in combinationwith a properly worn seat belt slows the driver's or the passenger's forward mo- tion, thus reducing the risk of head orchest injury. After complete inflation, the airbag im- mediately starts deflating, enabling the driver to maintain forward visibility. B240B03L

!WARNING:
o When the SRS is activated, there may be a loud noise and fine dust will be released throughout the vehicle. These conditions are nor- mal and are not hazardous. How-ever, the fine dust generated dur- ing airbag deployment may cause skin irritation. Wash all exposedskin areas thoroughly with luke- warm water and a mild soap after an accident in which the airbagswere deployed.
o The SRS can function only when
the ignition key is in the "ON"position. If the SRS is not working properly,(1) The SRS SRI does not come on when the ignition key is turnedto the "ON" position or after the engine is started.
(2) The SRS SRI blinks for a sec- ond and remains on after illu-minating for about 6 secondswhen the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position or after he engine is started.
o When installing a container of liq-
uid air freshener inside a vehicle, do not place it near the instrument cluster nor on the instrument panelpad surface. If there is any leakage from the air freshener onto these areas (Instrument cluster, instru-ment panel pad or air ventilator), it may damage these parts. If the liquid from air freshener does leakonto these areas, wash them with water immediately.

Turn Signal Indicator Lights
The blinking green arrows on the in- strument panel show the direction indi-cated by the turn signals. If the arrow comes on but does not blink, blinks more rapidly than normal, or does notilluminate at all, a malfunction in the turn signal system is indicated. Your dealer should be consulted for repairs.
WARNING AND INDICATOR LIGHTS
B265C01LZ-AAT Electronic Stability Program Indicator Lights(If installed)
The electronic stability program indi- cators change operation according to the ignition switch position and whetherthe system is in operation or not. They will illuminate when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position, butshould go out after three seconds. If the ESP or ESP-OFF indicator stays on, take your car to your authorizedHyundai dealer and have the system checked. See section 2 for more infor- mation about the ESP.B260U01TB-GAT Immobilizer Warning Light (If Installed)
This indicator light comes on for some seconds after the ignition key is turnedto the "ON" position. At this time, you can start the engine. The light goes out after the engine is running. In case thislight goes out before you start the engine, you must turn to the "LOCK" position and restart the engine. In casethis light blinks for five seconds when the ignition key is turned to "ON" posi- tion, this indicates that the immobilizersystem is out of order. At this time, refer to the explanation of the Limp home procedure(See page 1-6) or con-sult to the Hyundai dealer.
