C160H01A-AAT Use Approved Anti-Freeze in Window Washer System To keep the water in the window washer system from freezing, add an approvedanti-freeze solution in accordance with instructions on the container. Window washer anti-freeze is available fromHyundai dealers and most auto parts outlets. Do not use engine coolant or other types of anti-freeze as thesemay damage the finish.
C160G02A-GAT To Keep Locks from Freezing To keep the locks from freezing, squirt an approved de-icer fluid or glycerineinto the key opening. If a lock is cov- ered with ice, squirt it with an approved de-icing fluid to remove the ice. If thelock is frozen internally, you may be able to thaw it out by using a heated key. Handle the heated key with careto avoid injury. NOTE: The proper temperature for using the immobilizer key is from -40°C (- 40°F) to 80°C(176°F). If you heat the immobilizer key over 80°C to openthe frozen lock, it may cause dam- age to the transponder in its head.
C160D01A-AAT Check Battery and Cables Winter puts additional burdens on the battery system. Visually inspect thebattery and cables as described in Section 6. The level of charge in your battery can be checked by your Hyundaidealer or a service station. C160F01A-AAT Check Spark Plugs and Ignition System Inspect your spark plugs as described in Section 6 and replace them if neces-sary. Also check all ignition wiring and components to be sure they are not cracked, worn or damaged in any way.
C160E01A-AAT Change to "Winter Weight" Oil if Necessary In some climates it is recommended that a lower viscosity "winter weight" oil be used during cold weather. See Section 9 for recommendations. If youaren't sure what weight oil you should use, consult your Hyundai dealer.

Lower the car to the ground by turning the wheel nut wrench counterclock- wise. Then position the wrench asshown in the drawing and tighten the wheel nuts. Be sure the socket is seated completely over the nut. Do notstand on the wrench handle or use an extension pipe over the wrench handle. Go around the wheel tightening everyother nut until they are all tight. Then double-check each nut for tightness. After changing wheels, have a techni-cian tighten the wheel nuts to their proper torque as soon as possible.

If you have a tire gauge, remove the valve cap and check the air pressure. If the pressure is lower than recom-mended, drive slowly to the nearest service station and inflate to the cor- rect pressure. If it is too high, adjust ituntil it is correct. To reinstall the wheel, hold it on the studs, put the wheel nuts on the studsand tighten them finger tight. The nuts should be installed with their small diameter ends directed inward. IF YOUR VEHICLE MUST BE TOWED
D080A01O-GAT If your vehicle has to be towed, it should be done by your Hyundai dealeror a commercial tow truck service. This will help assure that your vehicle is not damaged in towing. Also, profes-sionals are generally aware of local laws governing towing. In any case, rather than risk damage to your car, itis suggested that you show this infor- mation to the tow truck operator. Be sure that a safety chain system is usedand that all local laws are observed. It is recommended that your vehicle be towed with a wheel lift and dollies orflatbed equipment with all the wheels off the ground.

Specified Scheduled Procedures
These are the procedures such as

These procedures must be performed at the intervals shown in the mainte-nance schedule to assure that your warranty remains in effect. Although it is strongly recommended that they beperformed by the factory-trained or distributor-trained technicians at your Hyundai dealer, these procedures maybe performed at any qualified service facility. These are the regular checks you should perform when you drive your Hyundai or you fill the fuel tank. A list of these items will be found on page6-7.

The maintenance required for your
Hyundai can be divided into three main areas: o Specified scheduled procedures o General checks o Do-it-yourself maintenance It is suggested that genuine Hyundai
service parts be used for any requiredrepairs or replacements. Other parts of equivalent quality such as engine oil, engine coolant, manual or autotransaxle oil, brake fluid and so on which are not supplied by Hyundai Motor Company or its distributor maybe used without affecting your war- ranty coverage but you should always be sure these are equivalent to thequality of the original Hyundai parts. A Few Tips
Whenever you have your Hyundai ser- viced, keep copies of the service records in your glovebox. This will help ensure that you can document that therequired procedures have been per- formed to keep your warranties in ef- fect. SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS
Inspection should be performed any time a malfunction is experienced or suspected. Receipts for all emission control system services should be re-tained to demonstrate compliance with conditions of the emissions system warranty. Visually check for proper installation, chafing, cracks, deterioration and anyleakage. Replace any deteriorated or damaged parts immediately. F070G02A-AAT

Check brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir. The level should be between "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the side of the reservoir. Use onlyhydraulic brake fluid conforming to DOT 3 or DOT 4.

Check the rear brake drums and lin-

The fluid level should be in the "HOT" range of the dipstick, after the engine and transaxle are at normal operating temperature. Check the automatictransaxle fluid level with the engine running and the transaxle in neutral, with the parking brake properly ap-plied. Use HYUNDAI GENUINE ATF SP III, DIAMOND ATF SP III, SK ATF SP III or other brands approved byHyundai Motor Co., when adding or changing fluid. Using the wrong ATF may result in damage to the ATM.

mance and service of the engine. It is suggested that you check the oil level every 500km or before starting a longtrip and more often if you are driving in severe conditions.
The engine oil quality should meet
the following classification:
API class: CF-4 or ABOVE ACEA class: B4 or ABOVE

Recommended Oil Gasoline Engine Engine oil is essential to the perfor- mance and service of the engine. It is suggested that you check the oil level at least once a week in normal use andmore often if you are on a trip or driving in severe conditions. The engine oil quality should meet the following classification. API SJ, SL or ABOVE, ILSAC GF-3 or ABOVE G030B01JMNOTE:
o For good fuel economy, SAE 5W- 20 (5W-30), ILSAC GF-3 engine oilis preferred regardless of regional option and engine variation.
o If SAE 5W-20, ILSAC GF-3 engine oil is not available, secondaryrecommended engine oil for cor- responding temperature rangecan be used.
