Air conditioning system operation tips
• If the vehicle has been parked in direct
sunlight during hot weather, open the
windows for a short time to let the hot
air inside the vehicle escape.
• To help reduce moisture inside of the
windows on rainy or humid days,
decrease the humidity inside the vehi-
cle by operating the air conditioning
system.
• During air conditioning system opera-
tion, you may occasionally notice a
slight change in engine speed as the
air conditioning compressor cycles.
This is a normal system operation
characteristic.
• Use the air conditioning system every
month only for a few minutes to ensure
maximum system performance.• When using the air conditioning sys-
tem, you may notice clear water drip-
ping (or even puddling) on the ground
under the passenger side of the vehi-
cle. This is a normal system operation
characteristic.
• Operating the air conditioning system
in the recirculated air position provides
maximum cooling, however, continual
operation in this mode may cause the
air inside the vehicle to become stale.
• During cooling operation, you may
occasionally notice a misty air flow
because of rapid cooling and humid air
intake. This is a normal system opera-
tion characteristics.

Climate control air filter
(if equipped)
The climate control air filter installed
behind the glove box filters the dust or
other pollutants that come into the vehi-
cle from the outside through the heating
and air conditioning system. If dust or
other pollutants accumulate in the filter
over a period of time, the air flow from the
air vents may decrease, resulting in
moisture accumulation on the inside of
the windshield even when the outside
(fresh) air position is selected. If this hap-
pens, have the climate control air filter
replaced by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.

✽NOTICE
• Replace the filter every 15,000 km
(10,000 miles) or once a year.
If the car is being driven in severe
conditions such as dusty or rough
roads, more frequent air conditioner
filter inspections and changes are
required.
• When the air flow rate suddenly
decreases, the system should be
checked at an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
D230400AEN
Checking the amount of air con-
ditioner refrigerant and compres-
sor lubricant
When the amount of refrigerant is low,
the performance of the air conditioning is
reduced. Overfilling also has a negative
impact on the air conditioning system.
Therefore, if abnormal operation is
found, have the system inspected by an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
✽NOTICE
It is important when servicing the air
conditioning system that the correct
type and amount of oil and refrigerant is
used. Otherwise, damage to the com-
pressor and abnormal system operation
may occur. D2301000BBH-EE
Rear vent
It will operate at the same time when you
operate the climate control system.
You can adjust the temperature by turn-
ing the temperature control knob. Turn
the knob to the red mark when warm air
is desired, or to the blue mark when cool
air is desired.
The outlet vents can be opened or closed
using the thumbwheel. To close the vent,
rotate it down (or left) to the maximum
position. To open the vent, rotate it up (or
right) to the desired position.
Also, you can adjust the direction of air
delivery from these vents using the vent
control lever as shown.
WARNING
The air conditioning system should
be serviced by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer. Improper service
may cause serious injury to the
person performing the service.

To control the vehicle height
Push the vehicle height control button to
select the HIGH mode that make the
vehicle height be higher than the NOR-
MAL mode and the indicator light on the
vehicle height control button will illumi-
nate. It is useful in a rough road.
✽NOTICE
When you drive over 70km/h, you could
not select the HIGH mode. If the vehicle
speed exceeds 70km/h while driving in
the HIGH mode, the NORMAL mode
will be selected automatically.
Push the vehicle height control button
again to select the NORMAL mode that
make the vehicle height be lower than
the HIGH mode. The indicator light in the
vehicle height control button will go off.
✽NOTICE
•When the vehicle stops with the shift
lever in D(Drive) or R(Reverse), you
could not change the vehicle height.
•If the vehicle speed exceeds 120km/h
while driving in NORMAL mode, the
LOW mode lowers than NORMAL
mode is selected automatically. LOW
mode could not be selected by manu-
ally.
•Do not operate ECS when the air filter
of the compressor in the lower part of
the vehicle sinks under the water.
Indraft of water into the compressor
may happen, and ECS may not oper-
ate normally.
•Make sure there are no objects under
the vehicle before changing the vehicle
height.
(Continued)(Continued)
•A click sound may be heard while
operating ECS, but these conditions
are normal and indicate that ECS is
functioning properly.
•Depending on the outside tempera-
ture the vehicle height may be differ-
ent.
•Do not turn the ignition switch to the
other position while operating ECS.
This could cause damage to ECS.

Cooling system
Check cooling system components, such
as radiator, coolant reservoir, hoses and
connections for leakage and damage.
Replace any damaged parts.
G051200AUN
Coolant
The coolant should be changed at the
intervals specified in the maintenance
schedule.
Automatic transmission fluid
Automatic transmission fluid should not
be checked under normal usage condi-
tions.
But in severe conditions, the fluid should
be changed at an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer in accordance to the scheduled
maintenance at the beginning of this
chapter.
✽NOTICE
Automatic transmission fluid color is
basically red.
As the vehicle is driven, the automatic
transmission fluid will begin to look
darker.
It is normal condition and you should
not judge the need to replace the fluid
based upon the changed color.
CAUTION
The use of a non-specified fluid
could result in transmission mal-
function and failure.
Use only specified automatic trans-
mission fluid. (Refer to
“Recommended lubricants and
capacities” in section 8.)
