SG020B1-E DAILY OPERATING CHECKS The following items should be checked on a daily basis or whenever the vehicleis refuelled, whichever occurs sooner.
o Engine oil level.
o Engine coolant level.
o Power steering fluid level.
o Brake fluid level.
o Windscreen washer fluid level.
o Battery condition.
o Tyre condition and pressures.
o Operation and cleanliness of all light-
ing equipment.
o Windscreen wiper and washer opera- tion.
o Horn operation.
o Warning light operation.
o Adjustment and cleanliness of mir- rors.
o Seat and seat belt adjustment and operation.
o Fluid leakage. The vehicle must not be driven if the daily operating checks indicate that any item of equipment related to thesafety or roadworthiness of the vehicle is not functioning correctly. G030B02A-EAT Recommended Oil
1. Petrol engine A multi grade oil having a specification which meets A.P.I. specification of SGor above is recommended. The oil vis- cosity should be selected according to the operating environment of the engineby means of the table shown in the illustration. The engine oil recommen- dations are complete in themselvesand the use of additives is neither required nor recommended. The use of engine oil additives may result in invali-dation of the vehicle warranty.
G030A01FC-EAT ENGINE OIL The correct engine oil level is of para- mount importance. An excessively highor low oil level may result in irreparable damage being sustained by the engine. The engine oil level must be checkedon a daily basis, whenever the vehicle is refuelled or before starting a long trip, whichever occurs sooner.In addition, it is imperative that only an approved grade and specification of oil is used to avoid the possibility of seri-ous engine damage and premature wear. The use of "budget price" oil is a false economy that must be avoided if themaximum reliability and useful life is to be obtained from the vehicle.

!WARNING:
Brake fluid is hygroscopic and should never be stored in an un- sealed container. The presence ofwater in the braking system will cause vapour locks and increase the possi- bility of brake fade along with pro-moting corrosion within the braking system. The brake fluid must be changed at the specified time or mile-age interval to ensure continued safe operation of the system. Brake fluid will cause rapid and serious damageto paintwork. If accidental spillage occurs, the affected area must be rinsed with water immediately. Donot allow brake fluid to come into SG140A1-E AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM MAINTENANCECondenser Ensure that the condenser is periodi- cally inspected and that accumulationsof dirt, dead insects and leaves etc, are removed to ensure that the efficiency of the system is not impaired. Care mustbe exercised to ensure that the con- denser fins are not damaged during cleaning.

To add brake fluid;
1) If it is necessary, remove the air
cleaner cover.
2) Wipe away any dirt then unscrew the
fluid reservoir cap.
3) Slowly pour the recommended fluid into the reservoir using by a funnel. Do not overfill.
4) Carefully replace the cap on the res- ervoir and tighten. contact with the eyes or to be in-gested and ensure that fluid is safelystored away form the reach of chil- dren.

SG150A1-E STEERING WHEEL FREEPLAY Steering wheel freeplay should be checked to ensure that the specified value is not exceeded.

4. Replace the two filters.
CAUTION:
Be sure to install the pollen filter in the direction of the arrow sign. Un- less, it may cause noise or deteriora- tion.
5. Installation is the reverse order of disassembly.

The various engine drive belts must be checked for condition, tension and free- dom from damage and excessive wear.The tension of a new belt must be checked after thirty minutes running following fitment of the new belt to allowfor the initial belt stretch. SG230B1-E POWER STEERING HOSES Power steering hoses should be checked for damage, deterioration andleakage at each service.
steering fluid level is between the "MAX" and "MIN" level markings on the fluid reservoir. NOTE: Grinding noise from power steering pump may be heard immediatelyafter the engine is started in extremely
cold condition (below -4°F). If the noise stops during warm up, there isno abnormal function in the system. This is due to a power steering fluid characteristic in extremely cold con-ditions. FLUID RECOMMENDATION Only automatic transmission fluid meet- ing the specification of Dexron 2 shouldbe used in the power steering system.
G300A01TB-GAT REMOVAL OF WATER FROM THE FUEL FILTER(DIESEL ENGINE) If the fuel filter warning lamp illuminates during driving, it indicates that waterhas accumulated in the fuel filter. If this occurs, remove the water as described.

Diesel EngineIncorrect tyre pressures can affect ve- hicle safety by causing reduced adhe- sion, steering response and tyre failurethrough overheating. The tyre pressure must only be checked when the tyres are cold. The correct tyre pressures areindicated on the label affixed in the glove box and below. Tyre pressures should be increased by 3 psi when the vehicle is driven fully laden or under conditions of sustained high speed motoring.

SI060B1-E TYRE REPLACEMENT Tyres must be replaced when the wear indicators appear as a solid bar acrossthe tyre tread. At this point, the remain- ing tread depth will be approximately 0.06 in.(1.6 mm). In addition to this, thetyre must be replaced if any portion of the tread has become bald or if there are any lumps, bulges or deep cuts in thesidewalls or tread. Replacement tyres must be of the rec- ommended size and rating and shouldbe of the same manufacture and tread pattern on each axle. SI060D2-E WHEEL REPLACEMENT

NOTE:
o Do not use the temporary spare
tyre for tyre rotation.
o Aluminium wheels which are not
supplied as Original Equipment should not be mixed on the same vehicle with the original steelwheels. However, it is acceptable that the steel spare wheel be used in conjunction with Original Equip-ment aluminium wheels since the offset of both wheels is compat- ible. Radial and cross ply tyresshould not be mixed on the same vehicle.
SI060A1-E TYRE BALANCING Incorrect tyre balance will cause steer- ing vibration and uneven tyre wear. The vehicle tyres are balanced during pro-duction but may need further balancing throughout the life of the tyres. It is recommended that the tyres bebalanced on the car for best results and that the tyres are balanced whenever they have been removed from the wheelfor repair. The original wheels may only be re- placed with Hyundai Approved wheels.
WARNING:
Driving on worn or defective tyres is dangerous. Worn tyres may cause loss of steering control and a seri- ous deterioration of braking effi-ciency. Defective tyres may cause vibration and loss of control through blow outs. Tyres of different size, construction or tread pattern should not be intermixed on the same axle. Radial and cross plytyres should not be used on the same vehicle. The use of tyres and wheels of nonapproved sizes can be dangerous.
