It is suggested that you check the oil level at least once a week in normal use andmore often if you are on a trip or driving in severe conditions. G020D01TG-GAT MAINTENANCE PRECAUTIONS Improper or incomplete service may result in problems. This section givesinstructions only for the maintenance items that are easy to perform. Several procedures should be done byan authorized Hyundai dealer. NOTE: Improper owner maintenance dur- ing the warranty period may affectwarranty coverage.
WARNING:
o Performing maintenance work on a vehicle can be dangerous. Youcan be seriously injured whileperforming some maintenance procedures. If you lack sufficient knowledge and experience or theproper tools and equipment to do the work, have it done by an autho- rized Hyundai dealer.
o Working under the hood with the engine running is dangerous. Itbecomes even moredangerouswhen you wear jewelry or loose clothing. These can become en- tangled in moving parts and resultin injury. Therefore, if you must run the engine while working un- der the hood, make certain thatyou remove all jewelry (especially rings, bracelets, watches, and necklaces) and all neckties,scarves, and similar loose cloth- ing before getting near the engine or cooling fans.

It is suggested that you check the oil level every 500km or before starting a longtrip and more often if you are driving in severe conditions. The engine oil quality should meet the following classification: API class: CH4 or ABOVE ACEA class: B4 or ABOVE
NOTE:
o For good fuel economy, SAE 5W-
20 (5W-30), ILSAC GF-3 engine oil is preferred regardless of regionaloption and engine variation.
o If SAE 5W-20, ILSAC GF-3 engine
oil is not available, secondary rec-ommended engine oil for corre- sponding temperature range can be used.

Responsibilty For Maintenance
It is the responsibility of the vehicle owner/driver to ensure that all routine mainte- nance services are undertaken in line with the recommendations specified in Section 5 of this manual. In addition, in order to ensure continued validity of the new vehiclewarranty and safe operation of the vehicle, non scheduled maintenance/running repairers should be undertaken at the earliest available opportunity. Under severe operating conditions, more frequent maintenance is required. Detailsof the maintenance schedule for such conditions are also given in section 5. It is recommended that all maintenance operations and repairers are entrusted to a Hyundai authorised repairer to ensure that the latest repairer methods, specializedtooling and genuine Hyundai parts are used to ensure the continued reliability and safety of the vehicle.

ZB010F2-A Fuels for Cleaner Air To help contribute to cleaner air, Hyundai recommends that you usefuels treated with detergent additives, which help to prevent deposit forma- tion in the engine. o Ensure that all windows, mirrors and
lamps are clean.
o Check condition of all tyres.
o Ensure that no fluid leaks are evi- dent.
o Ensure that the area around the ve- hicle is clear before driving off.
ZB010D1-E Operation in Foreign Countries Drivers of vehicles which are to be operated in foreign countries must sat-isfy themselves that:
o The vehicle meets all local regula-
tions with respect to insurance, speci- fications etc..

o Ensure that all occupants fasten and
correctly adjust seat belts.
o Ensure that seat and head restraint positions are adjusted for optimum safety, control and comfort.
o Adjust interior and exterior rear view mirrors.
o Verify correct operation of lamps,
horn and other electrical equipment.
o Ensure that warning lamps illumi- nate when ignition is turned on.
NOTE: Fluid levels such as engine oil, en- gine coolant, brake and windscreen washer fluid should be checked dailyor at each refuelling, whichever oc- curs sooner. B020A01FC-EAT RUNNING IN YOUR NEW HYUNDAI (Petrol Engine) The longevity and performance of the vehicle are greatly affected by the care exercised during the first 1,000 miles ofmotoring. Because of modern manu- facturing techniques, rigid guidelines regarding maximum road speeds havebecome unnecessary. However, cer- tain precautions should be observed in order to obtain the best possible perfor-mance and useful life from the vehicle.
1) Do not race the engine without a load
(i.e revving the engine in neutral).
2) During the first 500 miles the maxi-
mum engine speed should be re- stricted to 3,000 rpm and gradually increased thereafter.
3) Avoid prolonged constant speed op- eration. The internal components ofthe engine will become more quickly run in if the operation speed is variedduring the running-in period.
4) Never allow the engine to labour. Use
the gearbox freely and avoid largethrottle openings when the engine speed is below 1,500 rpm.

B880C02A-EAT Key Numbers The vehicle key number is recorded on a metal tag attached to the keys when the vehicle is first delivered to you.The key number should be recorded and kept in a safe place in case the need to order further keys arises. Newkeys are available from any Hyundai authorised repairer by quoting the rel- evant key number.In the interest of security, the metal tag attached to the keys which bears the key number should be removed fromthe key ring after you receive your new vehicle. In addition, key numbers cannot beprovided by Hyundai for security rea- sons.
AX10030A-1 If you need additional keys or if you should lose your keys, your Hyundai authorised repairer can make new keys.
NOTE: A non-genuine duplicate key will not start the engine.

CAUTION:
When starting the engine, do not use the key with other immobiliser keysaround. Otherwise the engine may not start or may stop soon after it starts.Keep each keys separately not to have any malfunction after you re- ceive your new vehicle. B040A02Y-EAT DOOR LOCKS
!WARNING:
o Unlocked doors can be danger- ous. Before you drive away (espe- cially if there are children in the car), be sure that all the doors are securely closed and locked so that the doors cannot be inadvert- ently opened from the inside. Thishelps ensure that doors will not be opened accidentally. Also, when combined with the proper use ofseat belts, locking the doors helps keep occupants from being ejected from the car in case of an accident.
o Before opening the door, always look for and avoid oncoming traf-fic.
o In case of accident the door is unlocked automatically (Not allmodels).

B990B01TG-EAT Side Impact Airbag Your Hyundai is equipped with a side impact airbag in each front seat. The purpose of the airbag is to provide the vehicle's driver and/or the front passen-ger with additional protection than that offered by the seat belt alone. The side impact airbags are designed to deployonly during certain side impact colli- sions, depending on the crash severity, angle, speed and point of impact. Theair bags are not designed to deploy in all side impact situations.

WARNING:
o When a fault develops in the Passenger's Front Air bag Deacti- vation/ Reactivation system the SRS Control Module puts the sys- tem into its 'safe' mode which willautomatically reactivate the pas- sengers front air bag system which is why the passenger's front airbag OFF indicator goes out, the fault in the system is then indi- cated by the SRS service reminderlight being displayed.
o SHOULD A COLLISION OCCUR
THE PASSENGER’S FRONT AIRBAG COULD THEN INFLATE, EVEN IF THE DEACTIVATION SWITCH IS SET TO THE 'OFF' POSITION.
! CAUTION:
If the SRS service reminder warning light does not illuminate when theignition key is turned on, or if it illuminates whist the vehicle is be- ing driven, then the vehicle shouldbe inspected immediately by a Hyundai Authorised Repairer to have the SRS air bag system checked out.
!WARNING:
It is the driver's responsibility for the correct usage of the passengers front
air bag switch. Deactivate the passenger's front air bag only whenthe ignition is switched off, or a malfunction may occur in the SRS Control Module. As soon as deacti-vation is no longer needed, reacti- vate the passenger's front airbag.
