B460E02TB-GAT Resetting the Sunroof System If the battery has been recharged, dis- connected, or if the sunroof operation is stopped by that ignition key is turned tothe "OFF" position while it is moving, you may need to reset the sunroof. To do this;
1. Turn the ignition switch "OFF".
2. With pressing "open" "up" button at
the same time, turn the ignition switch "ON".
3. If the sunroof is set like this, the sunroof is reset with tilting up/downautomatically once for all.
! CAUTION:
If the sunroof is not reset, it may not be operated properly.

B480A01E-AAT FRONT INTERIOR LIGHT Map Light The two map light switches are located on both sides of the front overhead console. Push in the map light switch toturn the light on or off. This light pro- duces a spot beam for convenient use as a map light at night or as a personallight for the driver and the passenger.

B460C01GK-GAT Tilting the Sunroof System The sunroof is moved to its fully tilt up position by pushing the "UP" switch, and to stop at the desired position,push in any switches (Open, Close, Up, Down). To tilt down, press and hold the"DOWN" button. Release the button when the sunroof reaches the desired position. NOTE: After washing the car or after there is rain, be sure to wipe off any water that is on the sunroof before oper-ating it.

The interior courtesy light has a button of three positions. The three positionsare:
oDR Type A In the "DR" position, the interior cour- tesy light comes on when any door is opened regardless of the ignition keyposition. The light goes out when the door is closed.

B491A01TB-GAT SPECTACLE CASE (If Installed) The spectacle case is located on the driver side of roof trim.Pull the end of the cover to open the spectacle case.
Type B In the "DR" position, the interior cour- tesy light comes on when any door isopened regardless of the ignition key position. The light goes out gradually 6 seconds after the door is closed.
oON In the "ON" position, the light stays on at all times.
o OFF In the "OFF" position, the light stays off at all times even though a door is open.

To use the air conditioning to cool the interior:
o Turn on the fan control switch (2).
o Turn on the air conditioning switch(4) by pushing in on the switch.The air conditioning indicator lightshould come on at the same time.
o Set the air intake control to the
position (5).
o Set the temperature control (1) to "Cool". ("Cool" provides maximumcooling. The temperature may bemoderated by moving the control toward "Warm".) HTB046
o Adjust the fan control (2) to the de-
sired speed. For greater cooling, turn the fan control to one of the higherspeeds or temporarily select the position on the air intake con- trol. For dehumidified heating:
o Turn on the fan control switch (2).
o Turn on the air conditioning switch
(4). The air conditioning indicator light should come on at the same time.
o Set the air intake control (5) to the fresh air ( ) position.
o Set the air flow control (3) to the face ( ) position.
o Adjust the fan control (2) to the
desired speed.
o For more rapid action, set the fan at one of the higher speeds.
o Adjust the temperature control (1)
to provide the desired amount of warmth.

Storage When not in use, place your discs in their individual cases and store them ina cool place away from the sun, heat, and dust. Do not grip or pull out the disc with yourhand while the disc is being pulled into the unit by the self loading mechanism. Keep Your Discs Clean
B850A02F-AAT CARE OF DISC Proper Handling Handle your disc as shown. Do not drop the disc. Hold the disc so you willnot leave fingerprints on the surface. If the surface is scratched, it may cause the pickup to skip signal tracks. Do notaffix tape, paper, or gummed labels on the disc. Do not write on the disc. Damaged Disc Do not attempt to play damaged, warped or cracked discs. These could severely damage the playback mecha- nism. B850A01L

Fingerprints, dust, or soil on the surfaceof a disc could cause the pickup to skipsignal tracks. Wipe the surface clean with a clean soft cloth. If the surface is heavily soiled, dampena clean soft cloth in a solution of mild neutral detergent to wipe it clean. See drawing.B860A01A-AAT CARE OF CASSETTE TAPES Proper care of your cassette tapes will extend the tape life and increase your listening enjoyment. Always protectyour tapes and cassette cases from direct sunlight, severely cold and dusty conditions. When not in use, cassettesshould always be stored in the original protective cassette case. When the vehicle is very hot or cold, allow theinterior temperature to become more comfortable before listening to your cassettes.
o Never leave a cassette inserted in the player when not being played. This could damage the tape player unit and the cassette tape. B860A01L

C020A03O-GAT BEFORE STARTING THE EN- GINE Before you start the engine, you should always:
1. Look around the vehicle to be sure
there are no flat tires, puddles of oil, water or other indications of pos-sible trouble.
2. After entering the car, check to be
sure the parking brake is engaged.
3. Check that all windows, and lights are clean.
4. Check that the interior and exterior mirrors are clean and in position.
5. Check your seat, seatback and
headrest to be sure they are in theirproper positions.
6. Lock all the doors.
7. Fasten your seat belt and be sure
that all other occupants have fas- tened theirs.
8. Turn off all lights and accessories that are not needed.
9. When you turn the ignition switch to
"ON", check that all appropriate warning lights are operating and that you have sufficient fuel.
10.Check the operation of warning lights and all bulbs when key is inthe "ON" position.
!WARNING: (DIESEL ENGINE)
To ensure that sufficient vacuum exists within the brake system dur- ing cold weather start-up conditions,it is necessary to run the engine at idle for several seconds after start- ing the engine. C030A01A-GAT COMBINATION IGNITION SWITCHTo Start the Engine
o If your Hyundai is equipped with a
manual transaxle, place the shift lever in neutral and depress theclutch pedal fully.
o If your Hyundai has an automatic
transaxle, place the shift lever in "P"(park).
o To start the engine, insert the igni-
tion key and turn it to the "START"position. Release it as soon as the engine starts. Do not hold the key in the "START" position for more than15 seconds.
NOTE: For safety, the engine will not start if the shift lever is not in "P" or "N"Position (Automatic transaxle).
!WARNING:
Always wear appropriate shoes when operating your vehicle. Unsuitable shoes (high heels, skiboots, etc.) may interfere with your ability to use the brake and accelera- tor pedal, and the clutch (if installed).
!WARNING:
When you intend to park or stop the vehicle with the engine on, be care-ful not to depress the accelerator pedal for a long period of time. It may overheat the engine or exhaust sys-tem and cause fire.

D010B02A-AAT If Engine Doesn't Turn Over or Turns Over Slowly
1. If your car has an automatic transaxle,
be sure the gear selector lever is in "N" or "P" and the emergency brakeis set. D010C01A-AAT If Engine Turns Over Normally but Does Not Start
1. Check fuel level.
2. Check all connectors at ignition, coil
and spark plugs. Reconnect any that may be disconnected or loose. D010D01A-AAT If the Engine Stalls While Driv- ing
1. Reduce your speed gradually, keep-
ing a straight line. Move cautiously off the road to a safe place.
2. Turn on your emergency flashers.
3. Try to start the engine again. If your vehicle will not start, contact a Hyundai dealer or seek other quali- fied assistance.
F020100AUN If the engine stalls at a crossroad or crossing If the engine stalls at a crossroad orcrossing, set the shift lever in the N (Neutral) position and then push the vehicle to a safe place. If your vehiclehas a manual transaxle not equipped with the ignition lock switch, the vehicle can move forward by shifting to the2(second) or 3(third) gear and then turn- ing the starter without depressing the clutch pedal.

CAUTION:
If the engine will not start, do not push or pull the car to start it. Thiscould result in a collision or cause other damage. In addition, push or pull starting may cause the cata-lytic converter to be overloaded and create a fire hazard.

2. Check the battery connections to be
sure they are clean and tight.
3. Turn on the interior light. If the light dims or goes out when you operate the starter, the battery is discharged.
4. Check the starter connections to be sure they are securely tightened.
5. Do not push or pull the vehicle to
start it. See instructions for "Jump Starting". 3. Check the fuel line in the engine
room.
4. If engine still refuses to start, call a Hyundai dealer or seek other quali- fied assistance.

E040D01A-AAT Cleaning the Seat Belts To clean the seat belts, use a cloth or sponge with mild soap or detergent and warm water. Do not use strongdetergents, dye, bleach or abrasive materials on the seat belts as this may weaken the fabric.While cleaning the belts, inspect them for excessive wear, cuts, fraying or other signs of damage and replacethem if necessary.
E040C01A-AAT Cleaning the Carpets Use a foam-type carpet cleaner. Clean- ers of this type are available in aerosolcans in liquid form or powder. Read the instructions and follow them exactly. Using a vacuum cleaner with the ap-propriate attachment, remove as much dirt from the carpets as possible. Apply the foam following the manufacturer'sdirections, then rub in overlapping circles. Do not add water. These clean- ers work best when the carpet is keptas dry as possible.
will keep your leather lustrous, beautiful and ensure you have many years of wear.Take a piece of cheese cloth and using any mild soap and lukewarm water, work up a good lather. Thoroughlywash the leather. Wipe clean with a slightly damp cloth and dry with soft cloth. Do this as often as the leatherbecomes soiled. During tanning operations, sufficient oils are incorporated through process- ing that none need be applied during the life of the leather. Oil applied to thefinished surface will in no way help the leather and may do more harm than good. Varnishes and furniture polishesshould never be used under any con- ditions.
E040A01A-AAT CLEANING THE INTERIOR To Clean the Vinyl Upholstery To clean the vinyl upholstery, first re- move loose dirt and dust with a vacuum cleaner. Then apply a solution of mildsoap or detergent and water using a clean sponge or soft cloth. Allow this to stay on the surface to loosen the dirt,then wipe with a clean damp sponge or cloth. If all the dirt stains are not re- moved, repeat this procedure until theupholstery is clean. Do not use gaso- line, solvent, paint thinner or other strong cleaners. E040B02A-AAT To Clean the Leather Upholstery (If installed) In the normal course of use, leather upholstered surfaces will, like any material, pick-up dust and dirt. This dust and dirt must be cleaned off or itmay work into the surface of the leather, causing damage. Fine leather needs care, and should be cleaned when necessary. Washing leather thoroughly with soap and water
CAUTION:
When cleaning leather products(steering wheel, seats etc.), use neu-tral detergents or low alcohol con- tent solutions. If you use high alco- hol content solutions or acid/alka-line detergents, the color of the leather may fade or the surface may get stripped off.

o Brake operation, including parking brake
o Manual transaxle operation, includ- ing clutch operation
o Automatic transaxle operation, in- cluding "Park" mechanism opera-tion
o Seat control condition and opera- tion
o Seat belt condition and operation
o Sunvisor operation If you notice anything that does not operate correctly or appears to befunctioning incorrectly, inspect it care- fully and seek assistance from your Hyundai dealer if service is needed.
