o The door can be locked or unlocked
with a key.
o Lock the door by turning the key
toward the front of the vehicle and unlock it by turning the key toward the rear.

B040C02Y-AAT Locking From the Outside The doors can be locked without a key. To lock the doors, first push the inside lock switch to the "LOCK" position so that the red mark on the switch is notvisible, then closed the door. The door will not lock if the key is left in the ignition switch when the front doorsclose. This is normal. NOTE:
o When locking the door this way,
be careful not to lock the door with the ignition key left in the vehicle.
WARNING:
o Unlocked doors can be danger- ous. Before you drive away (es- pecially if there are children in the car), be sure that all the doorsare securely closed and locked so that the doors cannot be inad- vertently opened from the inside.This helps ensure that the doors will not be opened accidentally. Also, when combined with theproper use of seat belts, locking the doors helps keep occupants from being ejected from the carin case of an accident.
o Before opening the door, always
look for and avoid oncoming traf-fic.
o In case of accident, the door is
unlocked automatically.

o To protect against theft, always
remove the ignition key, close all windows, and lock all doors andthe trunk lid when leaving your vehicle unattended.
Your Hyundai is equipped with a "child- protector" rear door lock assembly. When the lock mechanism is engaged, the rear door cannot be opened fromthe inside. Its use is recommended whenever there are small children in the rear seat. To engage the child-protector feature so the door cannot be opened from theinside, move the child-protector lever to the " " position and close the door. Move the lever to the opposite direc-tion of the " " position when normal door operation is desired.
B040D01S-AAT Locking From the Inside To lock the doors from the inside, simply close the door and push the lock switch to the "LOCK" position. When this is done, neither the outsidenor the inside door handle can be used. NOTE: When the door is locked, the red mark on the switch is not visible.

B040E03A-AAT CHILD-PROTECTOR REAR DOOR LOCKIf you wish to be able to open the door from the outside, the outside door handle will function normally.
B040G02L-AAT Central Door Locks The central door locking switch is lo- cated on the driver's arm rest. It isoperated by depressing either the front or rear of the door lock switch. NOTE:
o When pushing the front portion
of the driver's door lock switch, all vehicle doors will lock.If any door is open when the switch is depressed, the door will remain locked when closed. B040G02L-1

WARNING:
1) Be careful that someone's head, hands and body are not trapped by a closing window.
2) Never try to operate the main
switch on the driver's door andthe individual door window switch in opposing directions atthe same time. If this is done, the window will stop and cannot be opened or closed.
3) Do not leave children alone in the car. Always remove the ignitionkey for their safety. HXG029

B080B01L-AAT Adjusting Seat Forward and Rearward
B080A01A-AAT ADJUSTABLE FRONT SEATS
In order to prevent operation of the passenger front and rear windows, awindow lock switch(2) is provided on the armrest of the driver's door. To disable the power windows, press thewindow lock switch. To revert to nor- mal operation, press the window lock switch a second time. NOTE:
The power windows can be oper- ated for 30 seconds after the igni-tion key is turned to the "ACC" or "LOCK" positions, or removed from the ignition switch.If the front doors are opened during this 30 second period, the power windows can no longer be operatedwithout the ignition key turned to the "ON" position.

B230B02A-GAT Using a Child Restraint System With "Tether Anchorage" Sys-tem For small children and babies, the use of a child seat or infant seat is required.This child seat or infant seat should be of appropriate size for the child and should be installed in accordance withthe manufacturer's instructions. It is further required that the seat be placed in the vehicle's rear seat since this canmake an important contribution to safety. Your vehicle is provided with three child restraint hook holders forinstalling the child seat or infant seat. rear seat package tray.

If you need to tighten the belt, pull more webbing toward the retractor. When you unbuckle the seat belt andallow it to retract, the retractor will automatically revert back to its normal seated passenger emergency lockingusage condition. NOTE:
o Before installing the child re-
straint system, read the instruc- tions supplied by the child re- straint system manufacturer.
o If the seat belt does not operate as described, have the systemchecked immediately by yourauthorized Hyundai dealer.
WARNING:
Do not install any child restraintsystem in the front passenger seat.Should an accident occur and cause the passenger's side airbag to de- ploy, it could severely injure or killan infant or child seated in an infant or child seat. Therefore, only use a child restraint system in the rearseat of your vehicle.

B540B04Y-AAT Trunk Lid Knob Lock (If installed) If the trunk lid lock knob (located near the latch) is in the "LOCK" position when the trunk lid is closed, it will notbe possible to open the trunk lid by using the remote release. In this in- stance, use the master key to unlockand open the trunk lid. To allow the trunk lid to be opened with the remote release, push the trunk lidlock knob down, then to the opposite direction of the "LOCK" position.

The trunk lid should always be keptcompletely closed while the vehicle is in motion. If it is left open or ajar,exhaust gases may enter the car and serious illness or death may result. See additional warnings con-cerning exhaust gases on page 2-2.

To open the trunk lid, insert the key and turn it clockwise to unlock. The trunk compartment light illuminates when the trunk lid is opened.
WARNING:
o If a person is locked in the trunk, pull the emergency trunk releaselever on the driver's side of theinside panel of the trunk to open the trunk lid.
o Hyundai recommends that cars be kept locked and keys be keptout of the reach of children, and that parents teach their childrenabout the dangers of playing in trunks.
