1. Before towing, check hitch and
safety chain connections as well as proper operation of the trailer run- ning lights, brake lights, and turn signals.
2. Always drive your vehicle at a mod- erate speed (Less than 100 km/h)
3. Trailer towing requires more fuel than normal conditions.
4. To maintain engine braking effi-
ciency and electrical charging per-formance, do not use fifth gear (manual transaxle).
5. Always secure items in the trailer to prevent load shift while driving.
6. Check the condition and air pres-
sure of all tires on the trailer and your car. Low tire pressure can seriously affect the handling. Also check the spare tire.
CAUTION:
The following specifications are rec- ommended when towing a trailer. The loaded trailer weight cannotsafely exceed the values in the chart below.

7. The vehicle/trailer combination is more affected by crosswind and buffeting.When being passed by a large ve- hicle, keep a constant speed and steer straight ahead. If there is toomuch wind buffeting, slow down to get out of the other vehicle's air turbulence.
8. When parking your car and trailer, especially on a hill, be sure to followall the normal precautions. Turnyour front wheel into the curb, set the parking brake firmly, and put the transaxle in 1st or Reverse(manual) or Park (automatic). In addition, place wheel chocks at each of the trailer's tires.
9. If the trailer has electric brakes, start your vehicle and trailer mov-ing, and then apply the trailer brakecontroller by hand to be sure the brakes are working. This lets you check your electrical connection atthe same time.

Remove the spare tire and take out the jack and tool bag from the trunk. NOTE: The jack is located beneath the lug- gage mat in the vehicle trunk.

The wheel nuts should be loosened slightly before raising the car. To loosen the nuts, turn the wrench handle coun- terclockwise. When doing this, be surethat the socket is seated completely over the nut so it cannot slip off. For maximum leverage, position thewrench so the handle is to the right as shown in the drawing. Then, while holding the wrench near the end of thehandle, pull up on it with steady pres- sure. Do not remove the nuts at this time. Just loosen them about one-halfturn.

Loosen the wheel nuts and remove them with your fingers. Slide the wheeloff the studs and lay it flat so it cannot roll away. To put the wheel on the hub, pick up the spare tire, line up the holes D060G01L
D060F02E-AAT 5. Raising the Car After inserting a wrench bar into the wheel nut wrench, install the wrench bar into the jack as shown in the draw- ing. To raise the vehicle, turn the wheelnut wrench clockwise. As the jack be- gins to raise the vehicle, double check that it is properly positioned and willnot slip. If the jack is on soft ground or sand, place a board, brick, flat stone or other object under the base of the jackto keep it from sinking. Raise the car high enough so that the fully inflated spare tire can be installed.To do this, you will need more ground clearance than is required to remove the flat tire.

Do not get under the car when it issupported by the jack! This is very dangerous as the vehicle could falland cause serious injury or death. No one should stay in the car while the jack is being used.

o Sunvisor operation If you notice anything that does not operate correctly or appears to befunctioning incorrectly, inspect it care- fully and seek assistance from your Hyundai dealer if service is needed.

CAUTION:
Always observe the following:
o Check pressures when the tires are cold. That is, after the car has been parked for at least threehours and hasn't been driven more than 1.6 km or one mile since starting up.
o Check the pressure of your spare tire each time you check thepressure of other tires.
o Never overload your car. Be es- pecially careful about overload-ing if you equip your car with a luggage rack or car top carrier. I040A01S-GAT SNOW TIRES If you equip your car with snow tires, they should be the same size and have the same load capacity as the original tires. Snow tires should beinstalled on all four wheels; other- wise, poor handling may result. Snow tires should carry 28 kPa (4 psi) more air pressure than the pres- sure recommended for the standard tires on the tire label on the driver'sdoor edge, or up to the maximum pressure shown on the tire sidewall whichever is less.Do not drive faster than 120 km/h (75mph) when your car is equipped withsnow tires.

These pressures were chosen to pro-
vide the most satisfactory combina-tion of ride comfort, tire wear and stability under normal conditions. Tire pressures should be checked at least monthly. Proper tire inflation pressures should be maintained for these reasons:
o Lower-than-recommended tire pressures cause uneven tread wear and poor handling.
o Higher-than-recommended tire pressures increase the chance ofdamage from impacts and causeuneven tread wear.

I060A01Y-GAT TIRE ROTATION Tires should be rotated every 10,000 km (6,000 miles). If you notice that tires are wearing unevenly between
rotations, have the car checked by a Hyundai dealer so the cause may be corrected.After rotating, adjust the tire pres-sures and be sure to check wheel nuttorque. HA1409

Do not mix bias-ply and radial-ply
tires under any circumstances. This may cause dangerous handlingcharacteristics that may cause death, serious injury, or property damage.

I070A01A-AAT TIRE BALANCING A tire that is out of balance may affect handling and tire wear. The tires on your Hyundai were balanced beforethe car was delivered but may need balancing again during the years you own the car. Whenever a tire is dismounted for repair, it should be rebalanced before being reinstalled on the car.

TIRE CHAINS
Tire chains should be installed on the
front wheels. Be sure that the chains are installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
To minimize tire and chain wear, do
not continue to use tire chains whenthey are no longer needed.!WARNING:

The original tires on your car have tread wear indicators. The tread wear indicators appear when the treaddepth is 1.6 mm (0.06 in.). The tire should be replaced when these ap- pear as a solid bar across two ormore grooves of the tread. Always replace your tires with those of the recommended size. If you changewheels, the new wheel's rim width and offset must meet Hyundai speci- fications.

TIRE TRACTION
Tire traction can be reduced if you
drive on worn tires, tires that are improperly inflated or on slippery road surfaces. Tires should be replacedwhen tread wear indicators appear. To reduce the possibility of losing control, slow down whenever there israin, snow or ice on the road.
