B010A02CM-GAT Use Unleaded Gasoline For Europe
– For the optimal vehicle
performance, we recommend you to use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of RON (Research Octane Num- ber) 95 /AKI (Anti Knock Index) 91 orhigher. You may use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of RON 91~94/AKI 87~90but it may result in slight performance reduction of the vehicle. Except Europe – Unleaded gasoline
with a Pump Octane Rating of 87 (Re- search Octane Number 91) or highermust be used in Hyundai vehicle. If leaded gasoline is used, it will cause the catalytic converter to become inef- fective and the emission control sys- tem to malfunction. This can also result in increased main- tenance expense. To avoid accidental use of leaded fuel, the large nozzleused with leaded gasoline at service stations can not be inserted into fuel tank opening of Hyundai vehicle. NOTE:
o For some countries, Hyundai ve-
hicles are designed to use leaded gasoline. When you are going touse leaded gasoline, ask to Hyundai dealer whether leaded gasoline in your vehicle is avail-able or not.
o Octane rating of leaded gasoline
is same with unleaded one.
Use Diesel Diesel fuel Diesel engine must be operated only on commercially available diesel fuel thatcomplies with EN 590 or comparable standard. (EN stands for "European Norm"). Do not use marine diesel fuel, heating oils, or non-approved fuel addi- tives, as this will increase wear and cause damage to the engine and fuelsystem. The use of non-approved fuels and / or fuel additives will result in a limitation of your warranty rights.Diesel fuel of 52 to 54 cetane is used in Hyundai vehicle. If two types of diesel fuel are available, use summer or winterfuel properly according to the following temperature conditions. CAUTION:
Do not let any gasoline or water enterthe tank. This would make it neces- sary to drain it out and to bleed thelines to avoid jamming the injection pump and damaging the engine.
!
FUEL RECOMMENDATIONS
o Above -5°C (23°F) ... Summer typediesel fuel.
o Below -5°C (23°F) ... Winter type diesel fuel.
Watch the fuel level in the tank very carefully : If the engine stops through fuel failure, the circuits must be com-pletely purged to permit restarting.

- When refueling always shut the
engine off. Sparks produced byelectrical components related to the engine can ignite fuel va- pors causing a fire. Always in-sure that the engine is OFF be- fore and during refueling. Once refueling is complete, check tomake sure the fuel filler cap and door are securely closed, before starting the engine.
- Do not light any fire around a gas station. DO NOT use matchesor a lighter and DO NOT SMOKE or leave a lit cigarette in your vehicle while at a gas stationespecially during refueling. Automotive fuel is highly flam- mable and can, when ignited, result in explosion by flames.
- If a fire breaks out during refuel-
ing, leave the vicinity of the ve-hicle, and immediately contact the manager of the gas station or contact the police and localfire department. Follow any safety instructions they provide.

Switch position
o 2H(Rear-wheel drive) When driving on normal roads and highway.
o 4H(High range 4-wheel drive) When driving deep snow, sand or rough roads with normal speed. The 4WD indication light "HI" will be turned on to remind you that you are in the 4Hmode.
o 4L(Low range 4-wheel drive) When driving up or descending steep slopes or rough roads such as muddyroad. Especially when increased drive power is required. The indication light "LO" will be turnedon to remind you that you are in the 4L mode. CAUTION:
Do not select 4WD mode on dry paved roads. Especially on dry high way, never select the 4WD(4H or 4L).Four-wheel driving on dry paved roads for a long period will increase the fuel consumption with possiblenoise generation and early tire wear. In addition, differential oil tempera- ture increases with possible driv-ing system part wear.
! D090B01P-GAT Manual vacuum type free wheel hubs (If installed) The hubs are set to either the "FREE" position or the "LOCK" position by turning the handle.
1. FREE -
This position is for rear wheel drive.
2. LOCK - This position is for four wheel drive.
Bring the vehicle to a complete stop, adjust the free wheel hubs to Lock (Free) position, and then resume driv- ing. And select transfer shift switch todesired mode. D090B01P

EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM
3CATALYTIC CONVERTER
H040A01P-GAT Canister While the engine is inoperative, fuel vapors generated inside the fuel tank are absorbed and stored in the canis-ter. When the engine is running, the fuel vapors absorbed in the canister are drawn into the induction systemthrough the purge control solenoid valve. H090A01P-GAT Purge Control Solenoid Valve The purge control solenoid valve is controlled by the ECU; when the en-gine coolant temperature is low, and during idling, it closes, so that evapo- rated fuel is not taken into the surgetank. After engine warm-up, during ordinary driving, it opens so as to introduce evaporated fuel to the surgetank. H050A01P-GAT
3. Exhaust Emission Control
System
The Exhaust Emission Control Sys-
tem is a highly effective system which controls exhaust emission while main-taining good vehicle performance. H060A01P-GAT All Hyundai vehicles are equipped with a monolith type three-way cata- lytic converter to reduce the carbonmonoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides contained in the exhaust gas.
