Luggage net (holder)
(if equipped)

To keep items from shifting in the
cargo area, you can use the four
holders located in the cargo area to
attach the luggage net.
If necessary, we recommend that you
contact a HYUNDAI authorised
repairer to obtain a luggage net.
CAUTION
To prevent damage to the goods or
the vehicle, care should be taken
when carrying fragile or bulky
objects in the luggage compart-
ment.
WARNING
To avoid eye injury, DO NOT over-
stretch the luggage net. ALWAYS
keep your face and body out of the
luggage net’s recoil path. DO NOT
use the luggage net when the
strap has visible signs of wear or
damage.
Cargo area cover (if equipped)

Use the cargo area cover to hide
items stored in the cargo area.
The cargo area cover can be upright-
ed or removed.

Antenna

The roof antenna receives DAB (if
equipped) and both AM and FM
broadcast signals. Rotate the roof
antenna in a counterclockwise direc-
tion to remove it. Rotate it in a clock-
wise direction to reinstall it.

Whilst driving
WARNING
Carbon monoxide (CO) gas is toxic. Breathing CO can cause uncon-
sciousness and death.
Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide which cannot be seen or smelled.
Do not inhale engine exhaust.
If at any time you smell engine exhaust inside the vehicle, open the windows
immediately. Exposure to CO can cause unconsciousness and death by
asphyxiation.
Be sure the exhaust system does not leak.
The exhaust system should be checked whenever the vehicle is raised to
change the oil or for any other purpose. If you hear a change in the sound of the
exhaust or if you drive over something that strikes the underneath side of the
vehicle, we recommend that the exhaust system be checked as soon as pos-
sible by a HYUNDAI authorised repairer.
Do not run the engine in an enclosed area.
Letting the engine idle in your garage, even with the garage door open, is a
hazardous practice. Run the engine only long enough to start the engine and to
move the vehicle out of the garage.
Avoid idling the engine for prolonged periods with people inside the vehi-
cle.
If it is necessary to idle the engine for a prolonged period with people inside the
vehicle, be sure to do so only in an open area with the air intake set at “Fresh”
and fan control set to high so fresh air is drawn into the interior.
Keep the air intakes clear.
To assure proper operation of the ventilation system, keep the ventilation air
intakes located in front of the windscreen clear of snow, ice, leaves, or other
obstructions.
If you must drive with the tailgate open:
Close all windows.
Open instrument panel air vents.
Set the air intake control at “Fresh”, the air flow control at “Floor” or “Face”, and
the fan control set to high.

Hydroplaning
If the road is wet enough and you are
going fast enough, your vehicle may
have little or no contact with the road
surface and actually ride on the water.
The best advice is SLOW DOWN
when the road is wet.
The risk of hydroplaning increases
as the depth of tyre tread decreas-
es, refer to “Tyre replacement” in
chapter 8.
Driving in flooded areas
Avoid driving through flooded areas
unless you are sure the water is no
higher than the bottom of the wheel
hub. Drive through any water slowly.
Allow adequate stopping distance
because brake performance may be
reduced.
After driving through water, dry the
brakes by gently applying them sev-
eral times whilst the vehicle is moving
slowly.

Under-inflation may overheat or dam-
age the tyres.
Do not install worn-out or damaged
tyres, which may reduce traction or
fail the braking operation.
