Hyundai Motor India Limited here-
inafter called "HMIL", warrants that
each new Hyundai vehicle sold shall
be free from any defects in material
and workmanship, under normal use
and maintenance, subject to the fol-
lowing terms and conditions.
1. Warranty period This warranty shall exist for a period
of
36 months/100,000 kms whichsoever is

earlier from the date
of delivery to the first purchaser.
This warranty is transferab
le to
subsequent owner for the remaining
warranty period. This warranty is
applicable only in India and
not
transferable to any other country.
2. What is covered
Except as provided in paragraph 3
hereof, our Authorized Dealers shall
either repair or replace, any Hyundai
genuine part that is acknowledged
by HMIL to be defective in material or w

orkmanship within the warranty
period stipulated above, at no cost to
the owner of the Hyundai vehicle for
parts or labour. Such defective parts
which have been replaced will
become the property of HMIL.
3. What is not covered
This warranty shall not apply to:
o Normal maintenance services other than the three free services,
including without limitation, clean-
ing and polishing, minor adjust-
ments, engine tuning, oil/fluid
changes, filters replenishment,
fastener retightening, wheel bal-
ancing, wheel alignment and tyre
rotation etc.
o Replacement of parts as a result of normal wear and tear such as
spark plugs, belts, brake pads
and linings, clutch disc/facing, fil-
ters, wiper blades, bulbs, fuses,
etc.
o Damage or failure resulting from: Negligence of proper mainte-
nance as required in this
Owner's Manual and Service
Booklet.
 Misuse, abuse, accident, theft, flooding or fire.
 Use of improper or insufficient
fuel, fluids or lubricants.
 Use of parts other than
Hyundai Genuine Parts.
 Any device and/or accessories
not supplied by HMIL.
 Modifications, alterations,
tampering or improper repair.
 Parts used in applications of
which they were not designed
or not approved by HMIL.
 Slight irregularities not recog-
nised as affecting quality or
function of the vehicle or parts,
such as slight noise or vibra-
tions, or items considered
characteristic of the vehicle.
 Airborne "fallout", Industrial
fall out, acid rain, hail and wind
storms, or other Acts of God.
 Paint scratches, dents or simi-
lar paint or body damage.
 Action of road elements (sand,
gravel, dust or road debris)
which results in stone chipping
of paint or glass.

To keep locks from freezing
To keep the locks from freezing\b
squirt an approved deicer fluid or
glycerine into the key opening. If a
lock is covered with ice\b squirt it with
an approved deicing fluid to remove
the ice. If the lock is frozen internally\b
you may be able to thaw it out by
using a heated key. Handle the heat
ed key with care to avoid injury.
Use approved window washerantifreeze in system
To keep the water in the window
washer system from freezing\b add an
approved window washer antifreeze
solution in accordance with instruc
tions on the container. Window wash
er antifreeze is available from an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer and
most auto parts outlets. Do not use
engine coolant or other types of anti
freeze as these may damage the
paint finish.
Don't let your parking brake freeze
Under some conditions your parking
brake can freeze in the engaged
position. This is most likely to hap
pen when there is an accumulation
of snow or ice around or near the
rear brakes or if the brakes are wet.
If there is a risk the parking brake
may freeze\b apply it only temporarily
while you put the shift lever in P (for
Automatic Transaxle/Continuously
Variable Transaxle) or in first or
reverse gear (for Manual Transaxle)
and block the rear wheels so the
vehicle cannot roll. Then release the
parking brake.
Don't let ice and snow accumulate underneath
Under some conditions\b snow and
ice can build up under the fenders
and interfere with the steering. When
driving in severe winter conditions
where this may happen\b you should
periodically check underneath the
car to be sure the movement of the
front wheels and the steering com
ponents is not obstructed.
Carry emergency equipment
Depending on the severity of the
weather\b you should carry appropri
ate emergency equipment. Some of
the items you may want to carry
include tire chains\b tow straps or
chains\b flashlight\b emergency flares\b
sand\b shovel\b jumper cables\b window
scraper\b gloves\b ground cloth\b cover
alls\b blanket\b etc.
Don't place foreign objects or materials in the engine compartment
Placement of foreign objects or
materials which prevent cooling of
the engine\b in the engine compart
ment\b may cause a failure or com
bustion. The manufacturer is not
responsible for the damage caused
by such placement.

and inspections that should be per-
formed at the frequencies indicated
to help ensure safe, dependable
operation of your vehicle.
Any adverse conditions should be
brought to the attention of your deal-
er as soon as possible.
These Owner Maintenance Checks
are generally not covered by war-
ranties and you may be charged for
labor, parts and lubricants used.
Owner maintenance schedule When you stop for fuel:• Check the engine oil level.
• Check the coolant level in coolant
reservoir.
• Check the windshield washer fluid level.
• Look for low or under-inflated tires.
• Check the radiator and condenser. Check if the front of the radiator
and condenser are clean and not
blocked with leaves, dirt or insects
etc.
If any of the above parts areextremely dirty or you are not sure
of their condition, we recommend
that you contact an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
While operating your vehicle:• Note any changes in the sound of the exhaust or any smell of
exhaust fumes in the vehicle.
• Check for vibrations in the steering wheel. Notice any increased steer-
ing effort or looseness in the steer-
ing wheel, or change in its straight-
ahead position.
• Notice if your vehicle constantly turns slightly or "pulls" to one side
when traveling on smooth, level
road.
• When stopping, listen and check for unusual sounds, pulling to one
side, increased brake pedal travel
or "hard-to-push" brake pedal.
• If any slipping or changes in the operation of your transaxle occurs,
check the transaxle fluid level.
• Check Continuously Variable Transaxle P (Park) function.
• Check the parking brake.
• Check for fluid leaks under your vehicle (water dripping from the air
conditioning system during or after
use is normal).

Be careful when checking your
engine coolant level when the
engine is hot. Scalding hot coolant
and stea m may blow out under
pressure. This could cause burns
or other serious injury.
WARNING

AAt least monthly:• Check the coolant level in theengine coolant reservoir.
• Check the operation of all exterior lights, including the stoplights, turn
signals and hazard warning flash-
ers.
• Check the inflation pressures of all tires including the spare for tires
that are worn, show uneven wear,
or are damaged.
• Check for loose wheel lug nuts.
At least twice a year (i.e., every Spring and Fall):• Check the radiator, heater and air
conditioning hoses for leaks or
damage.
• Check the windshield washer spray and wiper operation. Clean
wiper blades with clean cloth
dampened with washer fluid.
• Check the headlight alignment.
• Check the muffler, exhaust pipes, shields and clamps.
• Check the lap/shoulder belts for wear and function.
At least once a year:• Clean the body and door drainholes.
• Lubricate the door hinges and checks, and hood hinges.
• Lubricate the door and hood locks and latches.
• Lubricate the door rubber weather- strips.
• Check the air conditioning system.
• Inspect and lubricate Continuously Variable Transaxle linkage and
controls.
• Clean the battery and terminals.
• Check the brake/clutch fluid level.

such as radiator, coolant reservoir,
hoses and connections for leakage
and damage. Replace any damaged
parts.CoolantThe coolant should be changed at
the intervals specified in the mainte-

according to the maintenance sched-
ule.
Continuously Variable Transaxle
fluid (if equipped)Continuously Variable Transaxle fluid
should not be checked under normal
usage conditions.
But, the Continuously Variable
Transaxle fluid should be changed
under severe usage conditions. We
recommend that the Continuously
Variable Transaxle fluid changed by
an authorized HYUNDAI dealer
according to the maintenance sched-
ule. (Refer to “Maintenance Under
Severe Usage Conditions” in this
chapter. )
Information
Continuously Variable Transaxle fluid
color is basically light amber.
As the vehicle is driven, the
Continuously Variable Transaxle fluid
will begin to look darker.
It is normal condition and you should
not judge the need to replace the fluid
based upon the changed color.
The use of non-specified fluid (even
marked as compatible with genuine)
could result in shift quality d eteriora-
tion and vibrations, eventually, the
transaxle failure.
Use only specified Continuously
Variabl e Transaxle fluid. (Refer to
"Recommended lubricants and
capacities" in chapter 8.)Brake hoses and linesVisually check for proper installation,
chafing, cracks, deterioration and
any leakage. Replace any deteriorat-
ed or damaged parts immediately.Brake fluidCheck brake fluid level in the brake
fluid reservoir. The level should be
between "MIN" (Minimum) and
"MAX" (Maximum) marks on the side
of the reservoir. Use only hydraulic
brake fluid conforming to DOT 3 or
DOT 4 specification.NOTICE

PParking brakeInspect the parking brake system
including the parking brake pedal
and cables. Brake discs, pads, calipers and
rotorsCheck the pads for excessive wear,
discs for run out and wear, and
calipers for fluid leakage.Suspension mounting boltsCheck the suspension connections
for looseness or damage. Retighten
to the specified torque.
Steering gear box, linkage &
boots/lower arm ball joint
With the vehicle stopped and engine
off, check for excessive free-play in
the steering wheel.
Check the linkage for bends or dam-
age. Check the dust boots and ball
joints for deterioration, cracks, or damage. Replace any damaged
parts.
Drive shafts and bootsCheck the drive shafts, boots and
clamps for cracks, deterioration, or
damage. Replace any damaged
parts and, if necessary, repack the
grease.Air conditioning refrigerant
(if equipped)Check the air conditioning lines and
connections for leakage and dam-
age.
