FUEL REQUIREMENTS
Petrol engine
Unleaded
Your new vehicle is designed to use only
unleaded fuel having an Octane Rating
of RON (Research Octane Number) 91 /
AKI (Anti-Knock Index) 87 or higher. (Do
not use methanol blended fuels)
Your new vehicle is designed to obtain
maximum performance with UNLEADED
FUEL, as well as minimize exhaust
emissions and spark plug fouling.
CAUTION
NEVER USE LEADED FUEL. The use
of leaded fuel is detrimental to the
catalytic converter and will damage the
engine control system’s oxygen sensor
and affect emission control.
Never add any fuel system cleaning
agents to the fuel tank other than what
has been specified (We recommend
that you consult an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer for details.)
WARNING
• Do not “top off” after the nozzle
automatically shuts off when
refueling.
• Always check that the fuel cap is
installed securely to prevent fuel
spillage in the event of an accident.

Vehicle information
Engine oil viscosity (thickness) has an effect on fuel economy and cold weather
operating (engine start and engine oil flowability). Lower viscosity engine oils can
provide better fuel economy and cold weather performance, however, higher
viscosity engine oils are required for satisfactory lubrication in hot weather.
Using oils of any viscosity other than those recommended could result in engine
damage.
When choosing an oil, consider the range of temperature your vehicle will be
operated in before the next oil change. Proceed to select the recommended oil
viscosity from the chart.

CAUTION
Always be sure to clean the area around any filler plug, drain plug, or dipstick
before checking or draining any lubricant. This is especially important in dusty or
sandy areas and when the vehicle is used on unpaved roads. Cleaning the plug
and dipstick areas will prevent dirt and grit from entering the engine and other
mechanisms that could be damaged.
An engine oil displaying this American Petroleum Institute(API)
Certification Mark conforms to the International Lubricant
Specification Advisory Committee (ILSAC). It is recommended to only
use engine oils that uphold this API Certification Mark.

If the brake fluid level in the reser-
voir is low:
1. Drive carefully to the nearest safe
location and stop your vehicle.
2. With the engine stopped, check the
brake fluid level immediately and add
fluid as required (For more details,
refer to “Brake Fluid” in chapter 9).
Then check all brake components for
fluid leaks. If any leak on brake system
is still found, the warning light remains
on, or the brakes do not operate
properly, do not drive the vehicle.
In this case, we recommend that
you have the vehicle towed to an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer and
inspected.
Dual-diagonal braking system
Your vehicle is equipped with dual-
diagonal braking systems. This means
you still have braking on two wheels
even if one of the dual systems should
fail.
With only one of the dual systems
working, more than normal pedal travel
and greater pedal pressure are required
to stop the vehicle.
Also, the vehicle will not stop in as short
a distance with only a portion of the
brake system working.
If the brakes fail while you are driving,
shift to a lower gear for additional
engine braking and stop the vehicle as
soon as it is safe to do so.
WARNING
Parking Brake & Brake Fluid Warning
