How to use the Smart Tailgate
The hands-free smart tailgate sys- tem can be opened automatically
when the following conditions aremet:
The Smart Tailgate option isenabled in the User Settings in the
AVN screen.
The Smart Tailgate is activated and ready 15 seconds after all the
doors are closed and locked
The Smart Tailgate will open when the smart key is detected in the
area behind the vehicle for 3 sec-onds Information
The Smart Tailgate will NOT operate
when:
Any door is open, or all doors are closed but not locked
The smart key is detected within 15 seconds from when the doors were
closed and locked
For vehicles equipped with illumi- nated exterior front door handles, if
the smart key is detected within 15
seconds from when the doors were
closed and locked or if the smart key
is within 1.5 m (60 inches) from the
front door handles
The smart key is in the vehicle. 1. Setting
To activate the Smart Tailgate, go to
"Vehicle settings
Door/Liftgate"
and select Smart Liftgate on the AVNscreen.
For more details refer to the sepa-
rately supplied Navigation manu-al.
2.Detect and Alert
The Smart Tailgate detecting area
extends approximately 50-100 cm
(20-40 in) behind the vehicle. If youare positioned in the detecting area
and are carrying the smart key, the
hazard warning lights will blink and
the chime will sound to alert you that
the smart tailgate will open.
Information
Do not approach the detecting area if
you do not want the tailgate to open. If
you have unintentionally entered the
detecting area and the hazard warn-
ing lights and chime starts to operate,
move away from the area behind the
vehicle with the smart key. The tail-
gate will remain closed.

3. Automatic opening
After the hazard warning lights blink
and the chime sounds 6 times, the
power tailgate will open.How to deactivate the SmartTailgate function using the
smart key
1. Door lock
2. Door unlock
3. Tailgate open
4. Panic
If you press any button on the smart
key during the Detect and Alert
stage, the Smart Tailgate function
will be deactivated.
Make sure to be aware of how to
deactivate the Smart Tailgate func-
tion for emergency situations.
Make certain that you close
the tailgate before driving
your vehicle.
Make sure there are no people
or objects around the tailgate
before opening or closing the
tailgate.
Make sure objects in the rear
cargo area do not come out
when opening the tailgate,
especially if the vehicle is
parked on a grade or incline.
If you keep your vehicle
parked and locked on your
driveway, you may want to
temporarily deactivate the
Smart Tailgate system.
Otherwise, standing at the
rear of the vehicle with the
smart key may cause the tail-
gate to open unintentionally.
WARNING
The key should be kept out of
reach of children. Children
may inadvertently open the
Smart Tailgate while playing
around the rear area of the
vehicle.

Information
If you press the door unlock button (2), the Smart Tailgate function will
be deactivated temporarily. But, if
you do not open any door for 30 sec-
onds, the Smart Tailgate function
will be activated again.
If you press the tailgate open button (3) for more than 1 second, the tail-
gate opens.
The Smart Tailgate function will still be activated if you press the
door lock button (1) or tailgate open
button (3) on the smart key as long
as the Smart Tailgate is not already
in the Detect and Alert stage.
In case you have deactivated the Smart Tailgate function by pressing
the smart key button and opened a
door, the Smart Tailgate function
can be activated again by closing
and locking all doors.Detecting area
The Smart Tailgate detecting areaextends approximately 50-100 cm
(20-40 in) behind the vehicle. If youare positioned in the detecting
area and are carrying the smart
key, the hazard warning lights will
blink and the chime will sound for
about 3 seconds to alert you that
the smart tailgate will open.
The alert stops once the smart key is moved outside of the detecting
area within the 3 second period. Information
The Smart Tailgate function may not operate properly if any of the
following instances occur:
- The smart key is close to a radiotransmitter such as a radio station
or an airport which can interfere
with normal operation of the
transmitter.
- The smart key is near a mobile two way radio system or a cellular
phone.
- Another vehicle's smart key is being operated close to your vehi-
cle.
The Smart Tailgate detecting area may change when:
- The vehicle is parked on an inclineor slope
- One side of the vehicle is raised or lowered relative to the opposite
side

Instrument Cluster Control
Adjusting instrument clusterillumination
When the vehicle's position lights or headlights are on, press the illumina-
tion control button to adjust the
brightness of the instrument panelillumination. When pressing the illumination con-
trol button, the interior switch illumi-nation intensity is also adjusted. The brightness of the instrument
panel illumination is displayed.
If the brightness reaches the maxi- mum or minimum level, a chimewill sound.
Gauges and Meters
Speedometer
The speedometer indicates the
speed of the vehicle and is calibratedin kilometers per hour (km/h) and/ormiles per hour (MPH).
Never adjust the instrument
cluster while driving. Doing socould lead to driver distraction
which may cause an accident
and lead to vehicle damage,
serious injury, or death.

Warning and Indicator lights
Information
Make sure that all warning lights are
OFF after starting the vehicle. If any
light is still ON, this indicates a situa-
tion that needs attention.
Ready Indicator
This indicator illuminates :
When the vehicle is ready to be driven.
- ON : Normal driving is possible.
- OFF : Nor mal driving is not possible,
or a problem has occurred.
- Blinking : Emergency driving. When the ready indicator goes OFF
or blinks, there is a problem with the
system. In this case, have your vehi-
cle inspected by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
Service Warning Light
This warning light illuminates :
When the POWER button is in the ON position.
- It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off.
When there is a problem with relat- ed parts of the fuel cell electric
vehicle control system, such as
sensors, etc.
When the warning light illuminates
while driving, or does not go OFF
after starting the vehicle, have your
vehicle inspected by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
Power Down Warning Light
This warning light illuminates :
When the vehicle power should be limited due to a malfunction with
fuel cell stack.
If the warning light continuously
remains on when the vehicle is in
"READY" state, or comes on dur-
ing driving, this indicates that there
may be a malfunction with the fuel
cell stack. If this occurs, we recom-
mend that you have the vehicle
inspected by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
If the warning light turns on again
when restarting the vehicle after
parking your vehicle on an incline.

Anti-lock Brake System(ABS) Warning Light
This warning light illuminates:
When the POWER button is in the ON position.
- It illuminates for approximately 3seconds and then goes off.
When there is a malfunction with the ABS (The normal braking sys-
tem will still be operational without
the assistance of the anti-lock
brake system).
In this case, have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
Electronic
Brake Force
Distribution (EBD) System Warning Light
These two warning lights illuminate
at the same time while driving:
When the ABS and regular brake sys-
tem may not work normally.
In this case, have your vehicle inspect-
ed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer. Information
- Electronic
Brake Force Distribution
(EBD) System Warning Light
When the ABS Warning Light is on or
both ABS and Parking Brake & Brake
Fluid Warning Lights are on, the
speedometer, odometer, or tripmeter
may not work. Also, the EPS Warning
Light may illuminate and the steering
effort may increase or decrease.
In this case, have your vehicle inspect-
ed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

Electronic Brake Force
Distribution (EBD) System
Warning Light
When both ABS and Parking
Brake & Brake Fluid Warning
Lights are on, the brake system
will not work normally and you
may experience an unexpected
and dangerous situation during
sudden braking.
In this case, avoid high speed driving and abrupt braking.
In this case, have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.

High Beam IndicatorLight
This indicator light illuminates:
When the headlights are on and in the high beam position.
When the turn signal lever is pulled into the Flash-to-Pass position.
Light ON Indicator
Light
This indicator light illuminates:
When the tail lights or headlights are on.
ECO Mode IndicatorLight
This indicator light illuminates :
When you select "ECO" mode as
drive mode.

Check headlamp FAN(if equipped)
This warning message is displayed if
there is a problem with headlamp
fan. Have the vehicle inspected by an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Lights Mode
This indicator displays which exteriorlight is selected using the lightingcontrol.
Wiper
This indicator displays which wiperspeed is selected using the wipercontrol.
Check Virtual Engine SoundSystem
This message is displayed when
there is a problem with the VirtualEngine Sound System (VESS).
In this case, have your vehicle inspect-
ed by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Check High Beam Assist (HBA)system (if equipped)
This warning message is displayed if
there is a problem with the High Beam
Assist (HBA) system. Have the vehi-
cle inspected by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer.
For more details, refer to "High
Beam Assist (HBA) system" in
chapter 3.
Check Forward Collision
Avoidance Assist system (if equipped)
This warning message is displayed if
there is a problem with the Forward
Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)
system. Have the vehicle inspected
by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
For more details, refer to "Forward
Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)
system" in chapter 5.

Exterior Lights
Lighting control
To operate the lights, turn the knob at
the end of the control lever to one of
the following positions:
1. OFF position
2. AUTO headlamp position
3. Parking lamp position
4. Headlamp position
Daytime running light (DRL)
The Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
can make it easier for others to see
the front of your vehicle during the
day, especially after dawn and beforesunset.
The DRL system will turn the dedi- cated lamp OFF when :
The headlamps are ON.
The parking lamps are ON.
The vehicle is turned off.
The parking brake is engaged.
AUTO headlamp position
(if equipped)
The parking lamp and headlamp will
be turned ON or OFF automatically
depending on the amount of daylight
as measured by the ambient light
sensor (1) on the crash pad.
Even with the AUTO headlamp fea-
ture in operation, it is recommended
to manually turn ON the headlamps
when driving at night or in a fog, driv-
ing in the rain, or when you enter
dark areas, such as tunnels and
parking facilities.
