4IMMOBILISER SYSTEM
B880A01A-DAT The immobiliser system is an anti-theft device, designed to deter automobile theft. B880B03MC-DAT Keys All of the locks fitted to the vehicle are operated by the same key. However,since it is possible to lock the doors without the use of the key, care should be exercised to ensure that the keydoes not become locked inside the vehicle by mistake. NOTE: If you make your own duplicate key, you will not be able to cancel the system or start the engine.

B020A01FC-DAT During the First 1,000 km (Diesel Engine) No formal running in period is required with your new Hyundai. However, youcan contribute to the economical opera- tion and durability of your Hyundai by observing the following recommenda-tions during the first 1000 km.
o While driving, keep your engine speed
or revolutions per minute within 3000 rpm.
o While driving, keep under three quar- ters of maximum speed.
o Use moderate acceleration. Don't use
full-throttle starts.
o For the first 300 km, try to avoid hard braking.
o Don't labouring the engine (in other words, don't drive so slowly in toohigh a gear that the engine hesitates: shift to a lower gear).
o Whether going fast or slow, vary your speed from time to time.
o Don't let the engine idle longer than 3
minutes at one time.
o Do not tow a trailer during the first
1000 km of operation.
RUNNING IN YOUR NEW HYUNDAI

B880C01NF-DAT Key Numbers The vehicle key number is recorded upon a number tag attached to the keyswhen the vehicle is first delivered to you. The key number should be recordedand kept in a safe place in case the need to order further keys arises. New keys are available from any Hyundaidealer by quoting the relevant key num- ber. In the interest of security, the numbertag attached to the keys which bears the key number should be removed from the key string after you receiveyour new vehicle. In addition, key num- bers cannot be provided by Hyundai for security reasons. If you need additional keys or if youshould lose your keys, your authorisedHyundai dealer can make new keys if you can supply the key number and master key.
B885D01CM-DAT Limp home procedures In case the immobiliser warning indica- tor blinks for five seconds when the ignition key is turned to "ON" position,this indicates that the immobiliser sys- tem is out of order. Should the immobiliser system be out of order,your vehicle will need to be towed to a Hyundai dealer for rectification.

CAUTION:
o When starting the engine, do not use the key with other immobiliser keys around. Otherwise the en-gine may not start or may stop soon after it starts. Keep each keys separately not tohave any malfunction after you receive your new vehicle.

ries near the key or ignition switch.The engine may not start for the metal accessories may interruptthe transponder signal from nor- mally transmitting.

In order to prevent theft of your ve- hicle, do not leave spare keys any-where in your vehicle. Your immobi- lizer password is a customer unique password and should be kept confi-dential. Do not leave this number anywhere in your vehicle.

B030C01CM-AAT ILLUMINATED IGNITION SWITCH (If installed) Whenever a door is opened, the ignition switch will be illuminated for your con-venience, provided the ignition switch is not in the "ON" position. The light will go off approximately 30 seconds afterclosing the door or when the ignition switch is turned on.

WARNING:
o Unlocked doors can be danger- ous. Before you drive away (espe- cially if there are children in the car), be sure that all the doors aresecurely closed and locked so that the doors cannot be inadvertently opened from the inside. This helpsensure that doors will not be opened accidentally. Also, when combined with the proper use of seat belts, locking the doors helps keep occupants from being ejectedfrom the car in case of an accident.
o Before opening the door, always
look for and avoid oncoming traf-fic.
o In case of an accident, all doors
will unlock automatically (If In-stalled). o Do not lock the door using the key
or the transmitter until all passen-gers have left the car because once the doors have been locked using the key or transmitter, it is impos-sible to unlock the door manually by hand (If Installed). Leaving children, helpless adults,or pets in an enclosed vehicle is dangerous. They can be overcome by the extreme heat and sufferpermanent injuries or even death from heat stroke.

B040C01O-AAT Locking from the Outside The doors can be locked without a key. To lock the doors, first push the insidelock switch to the "LOCK" position so that the red mark on the switch is not visible, then close the door. NOTE:
o The door will not lock if the key is
left in the ignition switch when the front doors are closed.
o When locking the door this way,
be careful not to lock the door withthe ignition key left in the vehicle.
WARNING:
Do not lock the door using the key or the transmitter until all passengers have left the car because once thedoors have been locked using the key or transmitter, it is impossible to unlock the door manually by hand (IfInstalled). Leaving children, help- less adults, or pets in an enclosed vehicle is dangerous. They can beovercome by the extreme heat and suffer permanent injuries or even death from heat stroke.

B040E04A-DAT Child-protector Rear Door Lock Your Hyundai is equipped with a "child- protector" rear door lock assembly. When the lock mechanism is engaged, the rear door cannot be opened from theinside. Its use is recommended when- ever there are small children in the rear seat. To engage the child-protector fea-ture so that the door cannot be opened from inside, move the child-protector lever to the "

o The driver's and front passenger's doors can be opened by pulling the inside door handle even if the front portion of the driver's or front passenger's (if installed) centraldoor locking switch has been de- pressed to lock the doors.
o If the door is locked/unlocked mul- tiple times in rapid successionwith either the vehicle key or door lock switch, the system may stopoperating temporarily in order to protect the circuit and prevent damage to system components.
B040G02NF-AAT Central Door Locks (If Installed) The central door locking switch is lo- cated on the driver's and frontpassenger's (if installed) armrest. It is operated by depressing the door lock switch. If any door is open when theswitch is depressed to the "LOCK" position, the door will remain locked when closed. NOTE:
o When pushing the front portion of
the driver's or front passenger's (if installed) door lock switch, all vehicle doors will lock.
o When pushing the rear portion of these switches, all vehicle doorswill unlock.

B070A01A-DAT (If Installed) This system is designed to provide protection from unauthorised entry intothe car. This system is operated in three stages: the first is the "Armed" stage, the second is the "Alarm" stage,and the third is the "Disarmed" stage. If triggered, the system provides an au- dible alarm with blinking of the turnsignal lights. B070B01CM-DAT Armed Stage Park the car and stop the engine. Arm the system as described below.
WARNING:

B070C01O-DAT Alarm Stage The alarm will be activated if any of the following occurs while the car is parkedand the system is armed.
1) A front or rear door is opened without
using the transmitter.
2) The tail gate is opened without using
the transmitter.
3) The engine bonnet is opened.The siren will sound and the turn signal lights will blink continuously for 27 sec- onds. To turn off the system, unlock the door or tail gate with the transmitter.
CAUTION:
Avoid trying to start the engine whilethe system is armed.
! CAUTION:
Do not arm the system until all pas- sengers have left the car. If the sys- tem is armed while a passenger(s)remains in the car, the alarm may be activated when the remaining passenger(s) leaves the car. If any door, tail gate or engine bonnet is opened within 30 seconds after enter- ing the armed stage, the system is disarmed to prevent unnecessary alarm.
1) Remove the ignition key from the
ignition switch.
2) Make sure that the engine bonnet and tail gate are closed and latched.
3) Lock the doors using the transmitter of the keyless entry system.
After completion of the steps above,the turn signal lights will blink once to indicate that the system is armed. However, if any door, tail gate or engine bonnet remains open, the hazard warn- ing lights are not operated. After this, ifall doors, tail gate and engine bonnet are closed, the hazard warning lights blink once.The system can be armed by locking the doors with the key. However, the hazard warning lights are not operated. NOTE: If any door, tail gate or engine bon- net remains open, the system will not be armed.If this happens, rearm the system as previously described.

B070D01CM-DAT Disarmed Stage The system will be disarmed when the driver's or passenger's door is unlocked by depressing the "
" button on the
transmitter. After completion of the step above, the turn signal lights will blink twice to indicate that the system is disarmed. NOTE: If any door, tail gate or engine bon- net is not opened within 30 seconds, the system will be rearmed.

! CAUTION:
Only the transmitter can disarm the armed stage. If the transmitter does not disarm the system, it is neces-sary to take the following steps;
1. Unlock the door with the key, which will cause, the alarm to be acti- vated.
2. Insert the key in the ignition key
cylinder and turn the ignition keyto "ON" position.

2. Remove the old battery from the case and note the polarity. Make sure the polarity of the new batteryis the same(+side facing down), then insert it in the transmitter.
B070E02CM-GAT Replacing the battery When the transmitter's battery begins to get weak, it may take several pusheson the button to lock or unlock the doors. Replace the battery as soon as possible. Battery type : CR2032 Replacement instructions:
1. Carefully separate the case with a
coin as shown in the illustration.

NOTE:
o The transmitter will not work if any
of following occur:
- The ignition key is in ignition switch.
- You exceed the operating dis-
tance limit (10 m).
- The battery in the transmitter is weak.
- Other vehicles or objects may be blocking the signal.
- The weather is extremely cold.
- The transmitter is close to a
radio transmitter such as a radio station or an airport which can interfere with normal operationof the transmitter.
When the transmitter does not workcorrectly, open and close the doorwith the ignition key. If you have a problem with the transmitter, con- tact an authorised Hyundai Dealer.
o Keep the transmitter away from water or any liquid. If the keylessentry system is inoperative due toexposure to water or liquids, it will not be covered by your manufac- turer vehicle warranty.

The power windows operate when the ignition key is in the "ON" position. Themain switches are located on the driver's armrest and control the front and rear windows on both sides of the vehicle.The windows may be opened by de- pressing the appropriate window switch and closed by pulling up the switch. Toopen the window on the driver's side, press the switch(1) halfway down. The window moves as long as the switch isoperated. To fully open the driver's window automatically, press the switch fully down. In automatic operation, thewindow will fully open even if you let go of the switch. To stop at the desired opening, pull up and release the switch. In order to prevent operation of the passenger front and rear windows, a window lock switch(2) is provided onthe armrest of the driver's door. To disable the power windows, press the window lock switch. To revert to normaloperation, press the window lock switch a second time. NOTE: The power windows can be operated for 30 seconds after the ignition key is turned to the "ACC" or "LOCK" positions, or removed from the igni-tion switch. If the front doors are opened during this 30 second period, the powerwindows can no longer be operated
WARNING:
1) Be careful that someone's head, hands and body are not trapped by a closing window.
2) Never try to operate the main
switch on the driver's door and theindividual door window switch in opposing directions at the sametime. If this is done, the window will stop and cannot be opened or closed.
3) Do not leave children alone in the car. Always remove the ignitionkey for their safety.
