NOTICE
If there is heavy accumulation of
snow or ice on the windshield,
defrost the windshield for about 10
minutes, or until the snow and/or ice
is removed before using the wind-
shield wipers to ensure proper oper-
ation.
✽ ✽NOTICE
• When you operate the wipers, if
your vehicle has a problem in any
part of the wiper operation sys-
tem, the wiper may operate in the
LO mode regardless of the wiper
switch position. In this case, have
your vehicle checked by an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer as
soon as possible.
• When the ignition key is removed, the wiper blade sometimes may
move slightly for reducing the
deterioration of the windshield
wipers.
Windshield washers
In the OFF position, pull the lever
gently toward you to spray washer
fluid on the windshield and to run the
wipers 1-3 cycles.
Use this function when the wind-
shield is dirty.
The spray and wiper operation will
continue until you release the lever.
If the washer does not work, check
the washer fluid level. If the fluid level
is not sufficient, you will need to add
appropriate non-abrasive windshield
washer fluid to the washer reservoir. The reservoir filler neck is located in
the front of the engine compartment
on the passenger side.

CAUTION
To prevent possible damage to
the washer pump, do not oper-ate the washer when the fluidreservoir is empty.
WARNING
Do not use the washer in freez-
ing temperatures without first
warming the windshield with
the defrosters; the washer solu-
tion could freeze on the wind-
shield and obscure your vision.

Automatic turn off function
(if equipped)
The interior lights automatically turn
off approximately 20 minutes after
the ignition switch is turned off.
If your vehicle is equipped with the
theft alarm system, the interior lights
automatically turn off approximately
5 seconds after the system is in the
armed stage.
Map lamp
Press the lens (1) to turn the map
lamp on or off
ON (2): The map lamp and room
lamp stays on at all times. OFF (3): The lamps are off even if a
door is opened.

DOOR (5): - The map lamp and room lampcomes on for approximately 30
seconds when doors are unlocked
with a transmitter or smart key as
long as the doors are not opened.
- When the ignition switch is in the ACC or LOCK/OFF position, if
any door is opened, the map
lamp and room lamp will stay on
for approximately 20 minutes. If
the door is closed, the lamps will
go out in 30 seconds.
- The map lamp and room lamp will go out immediately if the ignition
switch is changed to the ON posi-
tion with all doors closed.
- When the ignition switch is in the ON position, if any door is opened,
the map lamp and room lamp will
stay on continuously. If the door is
closed, the lamps will go out
immediately.
INTERIOR LIGHT
CAUTION
Do not use the interior lights forextended periods when theengine is not running.
It may cause battery discharge.
WARNING
Do not use the interior lights
when driving in the dark.
Accidents could happen
because the view may be
obscured by interior lights.

Recirculated air positionThe indicator light on the
button illuminates when
the recirculated air posi-
tion is selected.
With the recirculated air position selected, air
from the passenger
compartment will be
recirculated and heated
or cooled according to
the function selected.

air position selected, air
enters the vehicle from
outside and is heated or
cooled according to the

Prolonged operation of the heater in
the recirculated air position (with-
out air conditioning selected) may
cause fogging of the windshield and
side windows and the air within the
passenger compartment may
become stale.
In addition, prolonged operation of
the air conditioning with the recir-
culated air position selected will
result in excessively dry air in the

and/or body temperature.
Continued use of the climate control system operation in
the recirculated air position
may cause drowsiness or
sleepiness and loss of vehicle
control. Set the air intake con-
trol to the outside (fresh) air
position as much as possible
while driving.

Air intake control
This is used to select the outside
(fresh) air position or recirculated air
position.
To change the air intake control posi-
tion, push the control button.Recirculated air position
The indicator light on the
button illuminates when
the recirculated air posi-
ition is selected.
With the recirculated air position
selected, air from the passenger
compartment will be drawn through
the heating system and heated or
cooled according to the function
selected.
Outside (fresh) air position With the outside (fresh)
air position selected, air
enters the vehicle from
outside and is heated orcooled according to the
function selected.

Center console storage
To open the center console storage,
pull up the lever.
Glove box
The glove box can be locked and
unlocked with the mechanical key (1).
To open the glove box, push the but-
ton (2) and the glove box will auto-
matically open (3). Close the glove
box after use.
STORAGE COMPARTMENTS
WARNING - Flammable
materials
Do not store cigarette lighters,
propane cylinders, or other
flammable/explosive materials
in the vehicle. These items may
catch fire and/or explode if the
vehicle is exposed to hot tem-
peratures for extended periods.
CAUTION
To avoid possible theft, do not leave valuables in the storagecompartments.
Always keep the storage com- partment covers closed whiledriving. Do not attempt toplace so many items in thestorage compartment that thestorage compartment covercannot close securely.

INTERIOR FEATURES
Cigarette lighter (if equipped)
For the cigarette lighter to work, the
ignition switch must be in the ACC
position or the ON position.
To use the cigarette lighter:
1. Open the cover by pressing the
switch.
2. Push the lighter all the way into the socket.
When the element has heated, the
lighter will pop out to the "ready"
position. If it is necessary to replace the ciga-
rette lighter, use only a genuine
HYUNDAI replacement or its
approved equivalent.

CAUTION
The use of plug-in accessories
(shavers, hand-held vacuums,and coffee pots, for example)may damage the socket orcause electrical failure.
WARNING
Holding the lighter in after it is heated will cause it to over-
heat.
If the lighter does not pop out within 30 seconds, remove it
to prevent overheating.

Cups or small beverage cans may be
placed in the cup holders.
To use the center cup holder, pull
down the armrest and press the
open button.Sunvisor
Use the sunvisor to shield direct light
through the front or side windows.
To use a sunvisor, pull it downward.
To use a sunvisor for a side window,
pull it downward, unsnap it from the
bracket (1) and swing it to the side (2).

WARNING - Hot liquids
Do not place uncovered cups of hot liquid in the cup holder
while the vehicle is in motion.
If the hot liquid spills, you may
burn yourself. Such a burn to
the driver could lead to loss of
control of the vehicle.
To reduce the risk of personal injury in the event of sudden
stop or collision, do not place
uncovered or unsecured bot-
tles, glasses, cans, etc., in the
cup holder while the vehicle is
in motion.
WARNING
Keep cans or bottles out of
direct sun light and do not put
them in a vehicle that is hot up.
It may explode.
CAUTION
When cleaning spilled liquids,do not dry the cup holder athigh temperatures. This maydamage the chrome trim of thecup holder.
CAUTION
Do not place uncovered cups inthe cup holder while the vehicleis in motion. If the liquid spills,electric systems may malfunc-tion.

If you wish to use the AC inverter,press
the AC inverter button while the engine
is running. The light on the AC inverter
button will illuminate.
If you press the AC inverter button
again, the AC inverter will be deacti-
vated and the light on the AC invert-
er button will turn off.

NOTICE
When turning on the AC inverter, the
indicator on the AC inverter button
is delayed while the system conducts
a self-check.

Some electronic accessories or equipments can cause elec-tronic interference. It maycause excessive audio noiseand malfunctions in otherelectronic systems or devicesin the vehicle.
Do not use broken electronic accessories or equipments,which may damage the ACinverter and electrical sys-tems of the vehicle.
Do not use two or more elec- tronic accessories or equip-ments at the same time. It maycause damage to the electricalsystems of the vehicle.
When the input voltage is under 11V, the outlet LED will blinkand the AC inverter will turn offautomatically. If the input volt-age goes up to normal, the ACinverter will turn on again.
Do not use extensions or power strips.
WARNING
To reduce a risk of serious or
fatal injuries:
Do not use a heated electricdevice such as a coffeepot,
toaster, heater, iron, etc.
Do not insert foreign objects into the outlet and do not
touch the outlet as you may
get shocked.
Do not let children touch the AC inverter.
CAUTION
To prevent the battery from being discharged, do not usethe AC inverter while theengine is not running.
When not using the AC invert- er,make sure to turn off the ACinverter (the indicator on thebutton does not illuminate) andclose the AC inverter cover.
After using an electronic accessory or equipment, pullthe plug out. Leaving theaccessory or equipmentplugged in for a long time maycause battery discharge.
Do not use an electronic acces- sory or equipment with thepower consumption greaterthan 150W(115V).

• Be sure that all windows, outsidemirror(s), and outside lights are
clean.
Check the condition of the tires.
Check under the vehicle for any sign of leaks.
Be sure there are no obstacles behind you if you intend to back up.
Necessary inspections
Fluid levels, such as engine oil,
engine coolant, brake fluid, and
washer fluid should be checked on a
regular basis, with the exact interval
depending on the fluid. Further
details are provided in Section 7,
“Maintenance”.

Before starting
Close and lock all doors.
Position the seat so that all con-trols are easily reached.
Adjust the inside and outside rearview mirrors.
Be sure that all lights work.
Check all gauges.
Check the operation of warning lights when the ignition switch is
turned to the ON position.
Release the parking brake and make sure the brake warning light
goes out.
For safe operation, be sure you are
familiar with your vehicle and its
equipment.WARNING- Driving under
the influence of alcohol or
drugs
Drinking and driving is danger-
ous. Drunk driving is the num-
ber one contributor to the high-
way death toll each year. Even a
small amount of alcohol will
affect your reflexes, percep-
tions and judgement. Driving
while under the influence of
drugs is as dangerous or more
dangerous than driving drunk.
You are much more likely to
have a serious accident if you
drink or take drugs and drive.
If you are drinking or taking
drugs, do not drive. Do not ride
with a driver who has been drink-
ing or taking drugs. Choose a
designated driver or call a cab.WARNING
All passengers must be proper-
ly belted whenever the vehicle
is moving. Refer to “Seat belts”
in section 3 for more informa-
tion on their proper use.
WARNING
Always check the surrounding
areas near your vehicle for peo-
ple, especially children, before
putting a vehicle into D (Drive)
or R (Reverse).
