Limitations of the system
The Forward Collision Warning
System may have limits to its ability
to detect distance to the vehicle
ahead due to road and traffic condi-
tions.
The FCW cannot detect vehicles or
detect objects as vehicles when:
- The camera lens is covered withdirt.
- There is heavy rain or heavy snow.
- Driving in a curve.
- Driving uphill or downhill.
- An object ahead is very narrow such as motorcycles or bicycles.
- A vehicle suddenly enters your lane.
- The front vehicle suddenly departs from the lane or it is hidden by other
objects.
- A vehicle passes by at a higher rate of speed. - An unusual shape vehicle is ahead
such as a trailer, special access
vehicle or a truck with unique
shaped cargo.
- The rear lamps of the vehicle ahead is missing, installed on an
unusual place or installed unevenly.
- The front vehicle installs a separate lamp or LED lamp at the rear of the
vehicle.
- Coming in or out a tunnel, where the illumination intensity is high.
- Driving with the sun in front of you.
- The approaching vehicle has the high beam on.
- The vehicle vibrates heavily due to road conditions.
- The vehicle is tilted from a flat tire or being towed.
- The vehicle ahead is not distin- guishable due to similar shape
lamps.
- An object ahead is mistaken for a vehicle such as a shadow, sign, etc.

Take the following precautions
when using the Lane Departure
Warning System (LDWS):
ALWAYS check the road con-
ditions. The LDWS does not
make the vehicle change
lanes or stay in the lanes.
Do not turn the steering wheel
suddenly if the LDWS warns
that your vehicle is leaving the
lane.
If the camera cannot detect
the lane or if the vehicle speed
does not exceed 44 mph
(70 km/h), the LDWS will not
be able to notify you if the
vehicle leaves the lane.
If your vehicle has window tint
or other types of coating and
accessory on the front wind-
shield, the LDWS may not
work properly.
(Continued)
(Continued)
Do not allow any water or liq-
uid to contact the LDWS cam-
era or the camera may be
damaged.
Do not remove the LDWS
parts and do not damage the
camera by a strong impact.
Do not put objects that reflect
light on the dash board.
The operation of the LDWS
can be affected by several fac-
tors (including environmental
conditions). It is the responsi-
bility of the driver to pay
attention to the roadway and
to maintain the vehicle in its
lane at all times.

The Blind Spot Detection System
(BSD) uses a radar sensor to alert
the driver.
It monitors the rear area of the vehi-
cle and provides information to the
driver. (1) BSD (Blind Spot Detection)
The detection range varies in
accordance with a driving speed.
When your vehicle is faster than
the other vehicles, the system will
not warn you.
(2) LCA (Lane Change Assist) When a vehicle approaches you
at a high speed, the system will
warn you.
(3) RCTA (Rear Cross Traffic Alert) When your vehicle moves back-
wards, and when the sensor
detects the approaching vehicle
in the left and right side, the sys-
tem will warn you.

Closing at high speed
Always check the road condi-
tion while driving for unexpect-
ed situations even though the
Blind Spot Detection System
(BSD) is operating.
The Blind Spot Detection
System (BSD) is a supplemen-
tal system to assist you. Do
not entirely rely on the sys-
tem. Always pay attention,
while driving, for your safety.
The Blind Spot Detection
System (BSD) is not a substi-
tute for proper and safe driv-
ing. Always drive safely and
use caution when changing
lanes or backing the vehicle
up. The Blind Spot Detection
System (BSD) may not detect
every object alongside the
vehicle.

Detecting sensor
The sensors are located inside the
rear bumper.
Always keep the rear bumper clean
for the proper operation of the sys-
tem.
Warning message
This warning message may appearwhen :
- There are foreign substances onthe rear bumper
- Driving in rural areas with little traffic or open terrains such as
wide expanse of desert
- There is heavy snow or rain
The light on the switch and the sys-
tem will turn off automatically. When the message is displayed due
to a foreign substance, remove the
foreign substance on the rear
bumper. After the foreign substance
is removed, if you drive for approxi-
mately 10 minutes, the system will
work normally.
If the system does not operate nor-
mally after removing the substance
or is not in a situation mentioned
above, Take your vehicle to an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer and
have the system checked.

Driving your vehicle
If there is a problem with the BSD
system, a warning message will
appear and the light on the switch will
turn off. The system will turn off auto-
matically. Have your vehicle inspect-
ed by an authorized HYUNDAI deal-
er.
RCTA (Rear Cross Traffic Alert)
When your vehicle starts to move
backwards after parking, the sensor
detects any approaching vehicles
from the left and right sides and
warns the driver.
Operating conditions
To operate:
Go to the User Settings Mode
(Driving Assist) and select RCTA
(Rear Cross Traffic Alert) on the LCD
display (For more information,
refer to "LCD Display" in chapter
3.). The system will turn on and
standby to activate. The system will
activate when vehicle speed is below
6 mph (10 km/h) with the shift lever in
R (Reverse).
Information
The RCTA (Rear Cross Traffic Alert)
detecting range is about 1 feet ~ 65
feet (0.5 m ~ 20 m). A vehicle will be
detected if the vehicle speed is 2.5 mph
~ 22.4 mph (4km/h ~ 36km/h) within
the detecting range. However, the
detecting range may change under
different conditions. Always pay
attention to the surroundings.
