YH040B1-E About the Catalytic Converter ; For a Petrol Engine Exhaust gases passing through the catalytic converter cause it to operate at very high temperatures. As a re- sult, the introduction of large amountsof unburned petrol may cause it to overheat and create a fire hazard. This can be avoided by observing thefollowing: H020D01HP-GAT

!WARNING
o Use only unleaded fuel.
o Maintain your engine in good con- dition. Extremely high converter temperatures can result from im-proper operation of the electrical, ignition or M.P.I. system.
o If your engine stalls, pings, knocks, or is hard to start, takeyour car to your Hyundai dealer as soon as possible and have thedifficulty corrected. o Avoid driving with a very low fuel
level. If you run out of petrol, it could cause the engine to misfire and result in excessive loading ofthe catalytic converter.
o Avoid idling the engine for peri- ods longer than 10 minutes.
o Your Hyundai should not be ei- ther pushed or pulled to get itstarted. This can cause the cata- lytic converter to overload.
o Take care not to stop your Hyundai over any combustible material such as grass, paper, leaves orrags.
o Do not touch the catalytic con- verter or any other part of the exhaust system whilst the engine is running.
o Remember that your Hyundai dealer is your best source of as-sistance.

!In modern high-speed motoring, cor-
rect tyre pressures are vitally impor- tant.
Incorrect pressures can reduce adhe-
sion, affect the steering, and cause excessive tyre wear. Check the pres-sures before you start a trip, when tyres are cold. If the pressures are measured when the tyres are warm, ahigher reading will be obtained. The correct tyre pressures are indicated on the label affixed in the driver'sdoor edge and below. HPI030A1-E SNOW TYRES If you equip your car with snow tyres, they should be the same size and have the same load capacity as the original tyres. Do not drive faster than70 mph (112 Km/h) when your car is equipped with snow tyres.

TYRE CHAINS
Tyre chains, if necessary, should be
installed on the rear wheels. Be sure that the chains are the proper size and that they are installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
To minimize tyre and chain wear, do
not continue to use tyre chains whenthey are no longer needed.
WARNING:
o When driving on roads covered with snow or ice, drive at lessthan 20 mph (30 km/h).
o Use the SAE "S" class or wire &
plastic chains.
o If you have noise caused by chains contacting the body, re-tighten the chain to avoid contact with the vehicle body.
o To prevent body damage, re- tighten the chains after driving0.3~0.6 miles (0.5~1 km).

I060A01HP-EAT TYRE ROTATION Tyre wear will vary for each wheel. In order to increase the life of each tyre and keep wear uniform, tyre rotation should be performed every 3,000miles as shown in figure. NOTE: Do not mix bias-ply and radial-ply under any circumstances. This may cause dangerous handling char-acteristics.HPI060B1-E
TYRE REPLACEMENT
Tyres must be replaced when the wear
indicators appear as a solid bar across the tyre tread. At this point, the re- maining tread depth will be approxi-mately 0.06 in.(1.6 mm). In addition to this, the tyre must be replaced if any portion of the tread has become baldor if there are any lumps, bulges or deep cuts in the sidewalls or tread.
Replacement tyres must be of the
recommended size and rating and should be of the same manufactureand tread pattern on each axle.
SI060A1-E TYRE BALANCING Incorrect tyre balance will cause steer- ing vibration and uneven tyre wear. The vehicle tyres are balanced during production but may need further bal-ancing throughout the life of the tyres.It is recommended that the tyres bebalanced on the car for best results and that the tyres are balanced when- ever they have been removed fromthe wheel for repair.

If you nevertheless decide to equip your vehicle with any tyre/wheelcombination not recommended by Hyundai for off-road driving, you should not use these tyres for high-way driving.
