4. To secure the seat, hook the secur-
ing strap(3) under the seat cushion to the assist handle and fold the leg of the third seat(4). 5. Fix the seat belt buckle in the groove
not to damage it.
6. To return the seatback and seat cushion to its normal position, re-verse the above procedure.
NOTE: When you return the seat cushion to its normal position, always lower the leg of the third seat to lock theseat into position.
WARNING:
o The purpose of the fold-down rear seatback and the fold-up rearseat cushion is to allow you tocarry more objects than could be accommodated. Never allow pas- sengers to sit on the cargo areawhile the car is moving. This is not a proper seating position and no seat belts are available for usewhen the seatback is folded down.

This could result in serious in- jury or death in case of an acci- dent or a sudden stop. Objectsshould not extend higher than the top of the front seatbacks. This could allow cargo to slideforward and cause injury or dam- age during sudden stops.
o When you return the rear
seatback to its upright positionafter being folded down, be care- ful not to damage the seat beltwebbing or buckle. In addition, do not allow the seat belt web- bing or buckle to get caught or pinched in the rear seat.
o Do not allow passengers to fold
down and up the seatback andseat cushion while the car is moving.

Never work on injection system with engine running or within 30 sec- onds after shutting off engine. High pressure pump, rail, injectors andhigh pressure pipes are subject to high pressure even after the engine stopped. The fuel jet produced byfuel leaks may cause serious in- jury, if it touch the body. People using pacemakers should not movethan 30cm closer to the ECU or wiring harness within the engine room while engine is running, sincethe high currents in the Common Rail system produce considerable magnetic fields. WARNING:
Do not remove the radiator cap whenthe engine is hot. This can allowcoolant to be blown out of the open- ing and cause serious burns.
5. If the water pump drive belt is bro- ken or coolant is leaking out, stop the engine immediately and call the nearest Hyundai dealer for assis- tance. 6. If you cannot find the cause of the
overheating, wait until the enginetemperature has returned to nor-mal. Then, if coolant has been lost, carefully add coolant to the reser- voir (Page 6-12) to bring the fluidlevel in the reservoir up to the half- way mark.
7. Proceed with caution, keeping alert for further signs of overheating. Ifoverheating happens again, call a Hyundai dealer for assistance.
CAUTION:
Serious loss of coolant indicates there is a leak in the cooling system and this should be checked as soonas possible by a Hyundai dealer. The electric engine cooling fan au-
tomatically switches on and off ac- cording to engine temperature. Be careful to keep away from the fanduring this check as it may switch on at any time.
NOTE: Only lint free cloth should be used
for wiping the dipstick. The pres- ence of lint within the transmis- sion may cause problems with the normal function of the transmis-sion. CAUTION:
Correct operation of the braking
system is essential to the safe op- eration of the vehicle and there- fore, any maintenance operationsother than those listed below should be entrusted to a Hyundai authorised repairer.

1. Crankcase Emission Control System ; For a Petrol Engine
The positive crankcase ventilation
(PVC) system is employed to prevent air pollution caused by blow-by gases being emitted from the crankcase.
This system supplies fresh air to the
crankcase through the air cleaner.Inside the crankcase, the fresh airmixes with blow-by gases, then passes through the PCV valve into the intake system.

2. Evaporative Emission Control System ; For a Petrol Engine
The Evaporative Emission Control
System is designed to prevent fuel vapors from escaping into the atmo- sphere. Canister
Whilst the engine is inoperative, fuel
vapors generated inside the fuel tank are absorbed and stored in the canis-ter. When the engine is running, the fuel vapors absorbed in the canister are drawn into the induction systemthrough the purge control solenoid valve. Purge Control Solenoid Valve
The purge control solenoid valve is
controlled by the ECU (Engine Control Unit); when the engine coolant tem- perature is low, and during idling, it closes, so that evaporated fuel is nottaken into the surge tank. After engine warm-up, during ordinary driving, it opens to introduce evaporated fuel tothe surge tank.
