TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
If the retractable hard top stops halfway during operation or does not operate normally, follow the procedures shown in the following table. If the
procedures in the following table do not solve the symptom, immediately contact INFINITI retailer for the inspection.
SymptomBeepPossible cause Possible solution
The OPEN side of the retractable hard
top operating switch is pushed, but
the retractable hard top does not
operate. Sounds twice
The OPEN side of the retractable hard top op-
erating switch is pushed while the retractable
hard top is fully open, or the CLOSE side of
the retractable hard top operating switch is
pushed while the retractable hard top is fully
closed. Push the CLOSE side of the retractable hard top
operating switch when the retractable hard top
is fully open. Push the OPEN side of the retract-
able hard top operating switch when the re-
tractable hard top is fully closed.
Sounds twice The selector lever (automatic transmission
models only) or the shift lever (manual trans-
mission models only) is in the R (Reverse)
position. Shift the selector lever (automatic transmission
models only) to the P (Park) or N (Neutral)
position, or shift the shift lever (manual trans-
mission model only) to the N (Neutral) position,
and then operate the retractable hard top.
Sounds twice The trunk lid is opened. Fully close the trunk lid.
Does not sound The battery voltage is low. Start the engine again and operate the retract-
able hard top.
Sounds twice The separator in the trunk room is not cor-
rectly set. Set the separator correctly. For details, refer to
“Separator” earlier in this section.
Does not sound The retractable hard top is in the deactivation mode in order to avoid motor overheating by
the continuous operation of the retractable
hard top. Wait for approximately 20 minutes without op-
erating the retractable hard top and then oper-
ate the retractable hard top.

SymptomBeepPossible cause Possible solution
The retractable hard top stops halfway
during operation. Sounds twice
Objects are trapped in the moving structure of
the retractable hard top. Check that an object is not trapped inside the
rear parcel shelf, side flap and retractable hard
top. After the check, turn the ignition switch to
the OFF position, start the engine again and
then operate the retractable hard top.
Does not sound The battery voltage is low. Start the engine again and operate the retract-
able hard top.
Only the rear parcel shelf operates
when the OPEN side of the retractable
hard top operating switch is pushed. Sounds twice
every 10 sec- onds for 15 minutes. The retractable hard top control does not rec-
ognize the rear parcel shelf position because
of battery replacement or the contentious op-
eration of the retractable hard top. Perform the initialization of the retractable hard
top and operate the retractable hard top again.
For the initialization details, please refer to
“INITIALIZING OF THE RETRACTABLE HARD TOP”
in the “3. Pre-driving checks and adjustments”
section.
When the vehicle is being driven, the
beep sounds. Sounds con-
tinuously The retractable hard top is partially opened. Immediately park the vehicle in a safe location
and fully open or fully close the retractable
hard top.
When the engine is stopped, the beep
sounds. Sounds twice The retractable hard top is partially opened. Fully open or fully close the retractable hard
top.

To lock, close the fuel-filler door securely and
lock all doors by operating the door handle
request switch, the LOCK button on the Intelli-
gent Key, the mechanical key or the power door
lock switch.
FUEL-FILLER CAP
WARNING
●Gasoline is extremely flammable and highly
explosive under certain conditions. You
could be burned or seriously injured if it is
misused or mishandled. Always stop engine
and do not smoke or allow open flames or
sparks near the vehicle when refueling.
● Do not attempt to top off the fuel tank after
the fuel pump nozzle shuts off automati-
cally. Continued refueling may cause fuel
overflow, resulting in fuel spray and possi-
bly a fire.
● Use only an original equipment type fuel-
filler cap as a replacement. It has a built-in
safety valve needed for proper operation of
the fuel system and emission control sys-
tem. An incorrect cap can result in a serious
malfunction and possible injury. It could
also cause
the malfunction indicator
light (MIL) to come on. ●
Never pour fuel into the throttle body to at-
tempt to start your vehicle.
● Do not fill a portable fuel container in the
vehicle or trailer. Static electricity can cause
an explosion of flammable liquid, vapor or
gas in any vehicle or trailer. To reduce the
risk of serious injury or death when filling
portable fuel containers:
– Always place the container on the ground when filling.
– Do not use electronic devices when filling.
– Keep the pump nozzle in contact with the container while you are filling it.
– Use only approved portable fuel contain- ers for flammable liquid.
CAUTION
●If fuel is spilled on the vehicle body, flush it
away with water to avoid paint damage.
● Insert the cap straight into the fuel-filler
tube, then tighten until the fuel-filler cap
clicks. Failure to tighten the fuel-filler cap
properly may cause the
malfunction
indicator light (MIL) to illuminate. If the
light illuminates because the fuel-
filler cap is loose or missing, tighten or in-
stall the cap and continue to drive the ve-
hicle. The
light should turn off after a
few driving trips. If the
light does not
turn off after a few driving trips, have the
vehicle inspected by an INFINITI retailer.
● If your vehicle is equipped with the LOOSE
FUEL CAP warning, the LOOSE FUEL CAP
warning will illuminate if the fuel-filler cap is
not properly tightened. Failure to tighten the
fuel-filler cap properly after the LOOSE FUEL
CAP warning illuminates may cause the
malfunction indicator light (MIL) to
illuminate.

Confirming memory storage
●Push the ignition switch to the ON position
and push the SET switch. If the main memory
has not been stored, the indicator light will
come on for approximately 0.5 second.
When the memory has stored in position, the
indicator light will stay on for approximately
5 seconds.
● If the battery cable is disconnected, or if the
fuse opens, the memory will be canceled. In
this case, reset the desired position using
the previous procedure.
● If optional Intelligent Keys are added to your
vehicle, the memory storage procedure to
switch 1 or 2 and linking Intelligent Key
procedure to a stored memory position
should be performed again for each Intelli-
gent Key. For additional Intelligent Key infor-
mation, see “KEYS” earlier in this section.
Selecting the memorized position
1. Automatic transmission models:
Move the selector lever to the P (Park)
position.
Manual transmission models:
Apply the parking brake.
2. Raise the seatback.
3. Use one of the following methods to move
the driver’s seat, the outside mirrors and
the steering wheel.
●Push the ignition switch to the ON posi-
tion and push the memory switch (1 or 2)
fully for at least 1 second.
● Within 45 seconds of opening the driver’s
door, push the memory switch (1 or 2)
fully for at least 1 second.
The driver’s seat, steering column and
outside mirrors will move to the memo-
rized position with the indicator light
flashing, and then the light will stay on for
approximately 5 seconds.
For manual transmission models, the memory
positions can be selected even when the engine
is running. In this case, move the shift lever to
the N (Neutral) position and apply the parking
brake. Then, perform step 2.
SYSTEM OPERATION
The automatic drive positioner system will not
work or will stop operating under the following
conditions:
● When the vehicle speed is above 4 MPH (7
km/h).
● When the adjusting switch for the driver’s
seat and steering column is turned on while
the automatic drive positioner is operating.
● When the memory switch 1 or 2 is not
pushed for at least 1 second.
● When the seat, steering column and outside
mirrors have already been moved to the
memorized position.
● When no position is stored in the memory
switch.
● When the parking brake is released (MT
models).
● When the speed is above 4 MPH (7 km/h)
while the parking brake is applied (MT mod-
els).
To restart the drive positioner system, move
the parking brake to off and on.
● When the engine is started while moving the
automatic drive positioner.
