durability, and may damage the automatic transmission, which is not covered by the INFINITI new vehicle limited warranty.
*4: For hot climates, viscosity SAE 90 is suitable for ambient temperatures above 32°F (0°C).
*5: See an INFINITI retailer for service for synthetic oil.

change the oil before the first recommended
change interval. Oil and filter change intervals
depend upon how you use your vehicle. Opera-
tion under the following conditions may require
more frequent oil and filter changes.
●repeated short distance driving at cold out-
side temperatures,
● driving in dusty conditions,
● extensive idling,
● stop and go “rush hour” traffic,
Refer to the “INFINITI Service and Maintenance
Guide” for the maintenance schedule.
AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM
REFRIGERANT AND LUBRICANT
RECOMMENDATIONS
The air conditioning system in your INFINITI ve-
hicle must be charged with the refrigerant HFC-
134a (R-134a) and the lubricant, NISSAN A/C sys-
tem oil Type S or the exact equivalents.
CAUTION
The use of any other refrigerant or lubricant will
cause severe damage to the air conditioning
system and will require the replacement of all
air conditioner system components. The refrigerant HFC-134a (R-134a) in your
INFINITI vehicle will not harm the earth’s ozone
layer. Although this refrigerant does not affect
the earth’s atmosphere, certain governmental
regulations require the recovery and recycling
of any refrigerant during automotive air condi-
tioning system service. Your INFINITI retailer
has the trained technicians and equipment
needed to recover and recycle your air condi-
tioning system refrigerant.
Contact an INFINITI retailer when servicing your
air conditioning system.

A vehicle equipped with All-Wheel Drive (AWD)
should never be tested using a two wheel
dynamometer (such as the dynamometers used
by some states for emissions testing), or similar
equipment. Make sure you inform test facility
personnel that your vehicle is equipped with
AWD before it is placed on a dynamometer.
Using the wrong test equipment may result in
transmission damage or unexpected vehicle
movement which could result in serious vehicle
damage or personal injury.
Due to legal requirements in some states/
areas, your vehicle may be required to be in
what is called the “ready condition” for an
Inspection/Maintenance (I/M) test of the emis-
sion control system.
The vehicle is set to the “ready condition” when
it is driven through certain driving patterns.
Usually, the “ready condition” can be obtained
by ordinary usage of the vehicle.
If a powertrain system component is repaired or
the battery is disconnected, the vehicle may be
reset to a “not ready condition”. Before taking
the I/M test, check the vehicle’s
inspection/maintenance test readiness condi-
tion. Push the ignition switch to the ON position
without starting the engine. If the Malfunction
Indicator Light (MIL) comes on steady for 20
seconds and then blinks for 10 seconds, the I/Mtest condition is “not ready”. If the MIL does not
blink after 20 seconds, the I/M test condition is
“ready”.
If the MIL indicates the vehicle is in a “not
ready” condition, drive the vehicle through the
following pattern to set the vehicle to the
“ready condition”. If you cannot or do not want
to perform the driving pattern, an INFINITI re-
tailer can conduct it for you.
WARNING
Always drive the vehicle in a safe and prudent
manner according to traffic conditions and
obey all traffic laws.
1. Start the engine. Allow the engine to idle
until the engine coolant temperature
gauge needle points between the C and H
(normal operating temperature).
2. Accelerate the vehicle to 55 MPH (88 km/h), then quickly release the accelera-
tor pedal completely and keep it released
for at least 10 seconds.
3. Quickly depress the accelerator pedal for a moment, then drive the vehicle at a
speed of 53 to 60 MPH (86 to 96 km/h) for
at least 9 minutes.
4. Stop the vehicle. Leave the engine run- ning. 5. Accelerate the vehicle to 55 MPH (88
km/h) and maintain the speed for 2 min-
utes.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 at least 10 times.
7. Quickly release the accelerator pedal completely and keep it released for at
least for 1 minute. Maintain the speed for
at least 5 minutes.
8. Stop the vehicle. Place the automatic transmission selector lever in the P (Park)
or N (Neutral) position or the manual
transmission shift lever in the N (Neutral)
position.
9. Turn the engine off.
10. Start the engine and allow the engine to idle for at least 2 hours.
11. Place the ignition switch to the OFF posi- tion and leave the vehicle for at least 90
minutes.
If step 1 through 7 is interrupted, repeat the
preceding step. Any safe driving mode is ac-
ceptable between steps. Do not stop the engine
until step 7 is completed.

This vehicle is equipped with an Event Data Re-
corder (EDR). The main purpose of an EDR is to
record, in certain crash or near crash-like situa-
tions, such as an air bag deployment or hitting a
road obstacle, data that will assist in under-
standing how a vehicle’s systems performed.
The EDR is designed to record data related to
vehicle dynamics and safety systems for a short
period of time, typically 30 seconds or less. The
EDR in this vehicle is designed to record such
data as:
●How various systems in your vehicle were
operating;
● Whether or not the driver and passenger
safety belts were buckled/fastened;
● How far (if at all) the driver was depressing
the accelerator and/or brake pedal; and,
● How fast the vehicle was traveling.
● Sounds are not recorded.
These data can help provide a better under-
standing of the circumstances in which crashes
and injuries occur. NOTE: EDR data are recorded
by your vehicle only if a nontrivial crash situa-
tion occurs; no data are recorded by the EDR
under normal driving conditions and no personal
data (e.g. name, gender, age and crash location)
are recorded. However, other parties, such as
law enforcement, could combine the EDR data with the type of personally identifying data rou-
tinely acquired during a crash investigation.
To read data recorded by an EDR, special equip-
ment is required and access to the vehicle or the
EDR is needed. In addition to the vehicle manu-
facturer and INFINITI retailer, other parties, such
as law enforcement, that have the special equip-
ment, can read the information if they have ac-
cess to the vehicle or the EDR. EDR data will only
be accessed with the consent of the vehicle
owner or lessee or as otherwise required or per-
mitted by law.
A genuine INFINITI Service Manual is the best
source of service and repair information for your
vehicle. Filled with wiring diagrams, illustra-
tions and step-by-step diagnostic and adjust-
ment procedures, this manual is the same one
used by the factory trained technicians working
at an INFINITI retailer. Also available are genu-
ine INFINITI Owner’s Manuals, and genuine
INFINITI Service and Owner’s Manuals for older
INFINITI models.
