Check the fluid level in the reservoir.
The fluid level should be checked using the HOT
range (
s1: HOT MAX.,s2: HOT MIN.) at fluid
temperatures of 122 to 176ÉF (50 to 80ÉC) or
using the COLD range (
s3: COLD MAX.,s4:
COLD MIN.) at fluid temperatures of 32 to 86ÉF
(0 to 30ÉC).
If the fluid is below the MIN line, add Genuine
NISSAN PSF or equivalent. Remove the cap and
fill through the opening.
CAUTION
c Do not overfill.
c Use Genuine NISSAN PSF or equivalent. For further brake fluid information, see ªCA-
PACITIES AND RECOMMENDED
FUEL/LUBRICANTSº in the ª9. Technical and
consumer informationº section of this manual.
WARNING
c
Use only new fluid from a sealed container.
Old, inferior or contaminated fluid may dam-
age the brake system. The use of improper
fluids can damage the brake system and af-
fect the vehicle's stopping ability.
c Clean the filler cap before removing.
c Brake fluid is poisonous and should be
stored carefully in marked containers out of
the reach of children.
CAUTION
Do not spill the fluid on any painted surfaces.
This will damage the paint. If fluid is spilled,
wash the surface with water.
BRAKE FLUID
Check the fluid level in the reservoir. If the fluid
is below the MIN line
s2or the brake warning
light comes on, add Genuine NISSAN Super
Heavy Duty Brake Fluid or equivalent DOT 3fluid
up to the MAX line
s1. If fluid must be added
frequently, the system should be checked by an
INFINITI retailer.

JUMP STARTING
If jump starting is necessary, see ªJUMP START-
INGº in the ª6. In case of emergencyº section. If
the engine does not start by jump starting, the
battery may have to be replaced. Contact an
INFINITI retailer.
CAUTION
cDo not ground accessories directly to the
battery terminal. Doing so will bypass the
variable voltage control system and the ve-
hicle battery may not charge completely.
c Use electrical accessories with the engine
running to avoid discharging the vehicle
battery.
The variable voltage control system measures
the amount of electrical discharge from the
battery and controls voltage generated by the
generator.

WARNING
Be sure the ignition switch is in the LOCK posi-
tion before servicing drive belts. The engine
could rotate unexpectedly.
1. Visually inspect each belt for signs ofunusual wear, cuts, fraying or looseness.
If the belt is in poor condition or loose,
have it replaced or adjusted by an INFINITI
retailer.
2. Have the belts checked regularly for con- dition and tension.WARNING
Be sure the engine and the ignition switch are
off and that the parking brake is engaged
securely.
CAUTION
Be sure to use the correct socket to remove the
spark plugs. An incorrect socket can damage
the spark plugs.
