Speedometer
SPEEDOMETER AND OD-
OMETER
Speedometer
The speedometer indicates vehicle speed in
miles per hour (MPH) and kilometers per
hour (km/h).

Odometer/twin trip odometer
The odometerand twin trip odometerare displayed in the vehicle information
display when the ignition switch is in the
ON position.
The odometer records the total distance the
vehicle has been driven.
The twin trip odometer records the distance
of individual trips.Changing the display:
Pushing the TRIP RESET switch
under the
combination meter panel changes the dis-
play as follows:
TRIP A ?TRIP B ?TRIP A
Resetting the trip odometer:
Pushing the TRIP RESET switch
for more
than 1 second resets the trip odometer to
zero.

TACHOMETER
The tachometer indicates engine speed in
revolutions per minute (RPM).Do not rev
the engine into the red zone
.
The scale length and the red zone vary with
the engine model.
CAUTION
When engine speed approaches the red
zone, shift to a higher gear or reduce
engine speed. Operating the engine in
the red zone may cause serious engine
damage.

ASSIST CHARGE GAUGE
The gauge indicates the condition of the
electric motor.
When the needle is between the center and
“charge”
side, this indicates that the
electric motor is generating power to re-
charge the Li-ion battery.
When the needle is between the center and
the PWR
side, this indicates that the
electric motor is powering the drive wheels
and the Li-ion battery is discharging.

FUEL GAUGE
The gauge indicates the approximatefuel
level in the tank.
The gauge may move slightly during braking,
turning, acceleration, or going up or down
hills.
The gauge needle returns to “0” (Empty)
after the ignition switch is pushed to the
OFF position.
Refill the fuel tank before the gauge
registers “0” (Empty).
The low fuel warning light
illuminates on
the meter when the fuel level is getting low.
Refuel as soon as it is convenient, preferably
before the gauge reaches “0”. There will be a

small reserve of fuel in the tank when the
fuel gauge needle reaches “0”.
The
indicates that the fuel-filler door is
located on the right side of the vehicle.
CAUTION
. If the vehicle runs out of fuel, themalfunction indicator light (MIL) may
come on. Refuel as soon as possible.
After a few driving trips, the
light should turn off. If the light
remains on after a few driving trips,
have the vehicle inspected. It is
recommended you visit an INFINITI
retailer for this service.

CHECKING LIGHTS
With all doors closed, apply the parking
brake, fasten the seat belts and place the
ignition switch in the ON position without
starting the INFINITI Direct Response Hy-
brid
®System. The following lights (if so
equipped) will come on:

briefly and then go off:
,or,,,,,(yellow) If any light does not come on or operates in a
way other than described, it may indicate a
burned-out bulb and/or a system malfunc-
tion. It is recommended you have the system
checked by an INFINITI retailer.
Some indicators and warnings are also
displayed in the vehicle information display
between the speedometer and tachometer.
(See “Vehicle information display” (P.2-18).)
WARNING LIGHTS
12-volt battery charge warn-
ing light
When the ignition switch is in the ON
position, the 12-volt battery charge warning
light illuminates. After starting the hybrid
system, the light turns off.
If the light continues to illuminate after
starting the hybrid system, it may indicate
the charging system is not functioning

properly. It is recommended you visit an
INFINITI retailer immediately.
CAUTION
The charging system may not be func-
tioning properly if the 12-volt battery
charge warning light comes on while the
hybrid system is running. The hybrid
system will stop operating when the
12-volt battery becomes discharged.
Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe
place and it is recommended you contact
an INFINITI retailer.
orAnti-lock Braking
System (ABS) warning light
When the ignition switch is in the ON
position, the Anti-lock Braking System
(ABS) warning light illuminates and then
turns off. This indicates the ABS is opera-
tional.
If the ABS warning light illuminates while the
hybrid system is running, or while driving, it
may indicate the ABS is not functioning
properly. Have the system checked. It is
recommended you visit an INFINITI retailer
for this service. If an ABS malfunction occurs, the anti-lock
function is turned off. The brake system then
operates normally, but without anti-lock
assistance. (See “Anti-lock Braking System
(ABS)” (P.5-129).)
Brake system warning light
(yellow)
This light will illuminate after the hybrid
system is started and then turns off after a
few seconds.
WARNING
If both the brake system warning light
(yellow) and the brake warning light
(red) illuminate when the parking brake
is released and the hybrid system is on,
do not drive the vehicle. More brake
pedal effort than normal will be required
and there will be a significant reduction
in brake performance, which could result
in an accident. Immediately stop the
vehicle in a safe location and it is
recommended you contact an INFINITI
retailer.
If the brake system warning light (yellow)
illuminates when the ignition switch is in the
ON position, it may indicate a malfunction in the brake system or one of the following
other functions.
.
Regenerative brake system
. Hill start assist system
. Rise-up and build-up function
It is recommended you see an INFINITI
retailer for an inspection as soon as possible.
A chime sounds if a malfunction occurs in the
brake system power supply.
orBrake warning light
(red)
This light functions for both the parking
brake and the foot brake systems.
Parking brake indicator:
When the ignition switch is in the ON
position, the light comes on when the
parking brake is applied.
Low brake fluid warning:
When the ignition switch is in the ON
position, the light warns of a low brake fluid
level. If the light comes on with the parking
brake not applied, stop the vehicle and
perform the following:
1. Check the brake fluid level. If brake fluid is low, add fluid and have the system
checked. It is recommended you have this
service performed by an INFINITI retai-

ler. (See “Brake fluid” (P.8-12).)
2. If the brake fluid level is correct, have the warning system checked. It is recom-
mended you have this service performed
by an INFINITI retailer.
Brake system malfunction warning:
If the brake warning light (red) and the
following warning light illuminate at the
same time when the parking brake is re-
leased and the brake fluid level is sufficient,
there may be a malfunction in the brake
system.
. Brake system warning light (yellow)
WARNING
If both the brake system warning light
(yellow) and the brake warning light
(red) illuminate when the parking brake
is released and the hybrid system is on,
do not drive the vehicle. More brake
pedal effort than normal will be required
and there will be a significant reduction
in brake performance, which could result
in an accident. Immediately stop the
vehicle in a safe location and it is
recommended you contact an INFINITI
retailer.

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) warning
light
— Avoid driving at high speed and sud-
den braking, and see an INFINITI
retailer as soon as possible for an
inspection.
WARNING
.Your brake system may not be work-
ing properly if the brake warning
light (red) is on. Driving could be
dangerous. If you judge it to be safe,
drive carefully to the nearest service
station for repairs. Otherwise, have
your vehicle towed because driving it
could be dangerous.
. Pressing the brake pedal with the
hybrid system stopped and/or low
brake fluid level may increase your
stopping distance and braking will
require greater pedal effort as well as
pedal travel.
. If the brake fluid level is below the
minimum or MIN mark on the brake
fluid reservoir, do not drive until the
brake system has been checked. It is
recommended you visit an INFINITI
retailer for this service.
Direct Response Hybrid®Sys-
tem warning light
When the ignition switch is in the ON
position, the Direct Response Hybrid®Sys-
tem (hybrid system) warning light illumi-
nates. After starting the hybrid system, the
hybrid system warning light turns off.
If the hybrid system warning light illuminates
while driving, it may indicate that there is a
malfunction in the electric motor and/or
other hybrid system components.
Stop your vehicle immediately and it is
recommended that you contact your
INFINITI retailer.
If the hybrid system warning light blinks
while driving, it may indicate that the Li-ion
battery charge is low and you cannot
continue to drive.
Do not allow the vehicle to coast when the
Li-ion battery is low or when the hybrid
system warning light blinks while driving.
The engine will not automatically start to
charge the Li-ion battery while the vehicle is
coasting.
Forward Emergency Braking
(FEB) system warning light
This light comes on when the ignition switch
is placed in the ON position. It turns off after

the hybrid system is started.
This light illuminates when the FEB system is
set to OFF on the lower display.
If the light illuminates when the FEB system
is ON, it may indicate that the system is
unavailable. See “Forward Emergency Brak-
ing (FEB)” (P.5-104) for more details.
Low fuel warning light
This light illuminates when the fuel in the
tank is getting low. Refuel as soon as it is
convenient, preferably before the fuel gauge
reaches the 0 (empty) position.
There will be a small reserve of fuel remain-
ing in the tank when the fuel gauge reaches
the 0 position.
Low tire pressure warning light
Your vehicle is equipped with a Tire Pressure
Monitoring System (TPMS) that monitors
the tire pressure of all tires.
The low tire pressure warning light warns of
low tire pressure and flat tire, or indicates
that the TPMS is not functioning properly.
After the ignition switch is placed in the ON
position, this light illuminates for about 1
second and turns off.Low tire pressure warning:
If the vehicle is being driven with low tire
pressure, the warning light will illuminate.
The “Tire Pressure Low - Add Air” warning
also appears in the vehicle information dis-
play.
When the low tire pressure warning light
illuminates, you should stop and adjust the
tire pressure to the recommended COLD tire
pressure shown on the Tire and Loading
Information label. The low tire pressure
warning light does not automatically turn
off when the tire pressure is adjusted. After
the tire is inflated to the recommended
pressure, the vehicle must be driven at
speeds above 16 MPH (25 km/h) to activate
the TPMS and turn off the low tire pressure
warning light. Use a tire pressure gauge to
check the tire pressure.
The “Tire Pressure Low - Add Air” warning is
active as long as the low tire pressure
warning light remains illuminated.

Flat tire warning:
The flat tire warning warns of a flat tire.
If the vehicle is being driven with one or moreflat tires, the low tire pressure warning light
will illuminate continuously and a chime will
sound for 10 seconds. A “Flat Tire - Visit
dealer” warning also appears in the vehicle
information display.
The chime will only sound at the first
indication of a flat tire and the warning light
will illuminate continuously. When the flat
tire warning is activated, have the system
reset and the tire checked, and replaced if
necessary. It is recommended you visit an
INFINITI retailer for these services. Even if
the tire is inflated to the specified COLD tire
pressure, the warning light will continue to
illuminate until the system is reset.
Your vehicle can be driven for a limited time
on a flat tire. See “Run-flat tires” (P.6-4) and
“Run-flat tires” (P.8-34).
TPMS malfunction:
If the TPMS is not functioning properly, the
low tire pressure warning light will flash for
approximately 1 minute when the ignition
switch is placed in the ON position. The light
will remain on after the 1 minute. Have the
system checked. It is recommended you visit
an INFINITI retailer for this service. The “Tire
Pressure Low - Add Air” warning does not
appear if the low tire pressure warning light
illuminates to indicate a TPMS malfunction.

WARNING
.Radio waves could adversely affect
electric medical equipment. Those
who use a pacemaker should contact
the electric medical equipment man-
ufacturer for the possible influences
before use.
. If the light does not illuminate with
the ignition switch pushed ON, have
the vehicle checked as soon as possi-
ble. It is recommended you visit an
INFINITI retailer for this service.
. If the light illuminates while driving,
avoid sudden steering maneuvers or
abrupt braking, reduce vehicle speed,
pull off the road to a safe location
and stop the vehicle as soon as
possible. Driving with under-inflated
tires may permanently damage the
tires and increase the likelihood of
tire failure. Serious vehicle damage
could occur and may lead to an
accident and could result in serious
personal injury. Check the tire pres-
sure for all four tires. Adjust the tire
pressure to the recommended COLD
tire pressure shown on the Tire and
Loading Information label to turn the
low tire pressure warning light OFF.
If the light still illuminates while driving after adjusting the tire pres-
sure, a tire may be flat or the TPMS
may be malfunctioning. If no tire is
flat and all tires are properly inflated,
it is recommended you consult an
INFINITI retailer.
. Although you can continue driving
with a punctured run-flat tire, re-
member that vehicle handling stabi-
lity is reduced, which could lead to an
accident and personal injury. Also,
driving a long distance at high speeds
may damage the tires.
. Do not drive at speeds above 50
MPH (80 km/h) and do not drive
more than approximately 93 miles
(150 km) with a punctured run-flat
tire. The actual distance the vehicle
can be driven on a flat tire depends on
outside temperature, vehicle load,
road conditions and other factors.
. If you detect any unusual sounds or
vibrations while driving with a punc-
tured run-flat tire, pull off the road
to a safe location and stop the vehicle
as soon as possible. The tire may be
seriously damaged and need to be
replaced.
. When a wheel is replaced, the TPMS
will not function and the low tire
pressure warning light will flash for approximately 1 minute. The light will
remain on after the 1 minute. Have
your tires replaced and/or TPMS
system reset as soon as possible. It
is recommended you visit an INFINITI
retailer for these services.
. Replacing tires with those not origin-
ally specified by INFINITI could affect
the proper operation of the TPMS.
CAUTION
.The TPMS is not a substitute for the
regular tire pressure check. Be sure to
check the tire pressure regularly.
. If the vehicle is being driven at speeds
of less than 16 MPH (25 km/h), the
TPMS may not operate correctly.
. Be sure to install the specified size of
tires to the four wheels correctly.
Master warning light
When the ignition switch is in the ON
position, the master warning light illumi-
nates if any of the following warnings
appear in the vehicle information display:

in the vehicle information display, the master
warning light also illuminates. See “Lane
Departure Warning (LDW)/Lane Departure
Prevention (LDP)” (P.5-32), “Blind Spot
Warning (BSW)” (P.5-39), “Blind Spot Inter- vention®(BSI)” (P.5-47), “Back-up Collision
Intervention (BCI)” (P.5-59), “Distance Con-
trol Assist (DCA)” (P.5-93), “Forward Emer-
gency Braking (FEB)” (P.5-104) and
“Predictive Forward Collision Warning
(PFCW)” (P.5-112).
Power steering warning light
When the ignition switch is in the ON
position, the power steering warning light
illuminates. After starting the hybrid system,
the power steering warning light stays on for
a few seconds and turns off. This indicates
that Direct Adaptive Steering is operational.
Drive the vehicle after the power steering
warning light turns off.
If the power steering warning light illumi-
nates while driving, pull off the road to a
safe location and stop the vehicle. If the
power steering warning light turns off, you
can drive again. If the power steering
warning light continues to illuminate, it is
recommended you have Direct Adaptive
Steering checked by an INFINITI retailer.

Seat belt warning light and
chime
The light and chime remind you to fasten
seat belts. The light illuminates whenever the ignition switch is pushed to the ON
position, and will remain illuminated until the
driver’s seat belt is fastened. At the same
time, the chime will sound for about 6
seconds unless the driver’s seat belt is
securely fastened.
The seat belt warning light for the front
passenger will illuminate if the seat belt is
not fastened when the front passenger’s
seat is occupied.
See “Seat belts” (P.1-9) for precautions on
seat belt usage.
Supplemental air bag warning
light
After pushing the ignition switch to the ON
position, the supplemental air bag warning
light will illuminate. The supplemental air bag
warning light will turn off after about 7
seconds if the supplemental front air bag
and supplemental side air bag, curtain side-
impact air bag systems and/or pretensioner
seat belt are operational.
If any of the following conditions occur, the
supplemental front air bag, supplemental
side air bag, supplemental curtain side-
impact air bag and pretensioner seat belt
needs servicing.
. The supplemental air bag warning light
remains on after approximately 7 sec-

onds.
. The supplemental air bag warning light
flashes intermittently.
. The supplemental air bag warning light
does not come on at all.
It is recommended you visit an INFINITI
retailer for these services.
Unless checked and repaired, the Supple-
mental Restraint Systems and/or the pre-
tensioner seat belt may not function
properly.

WARNING
If the supplemental air bag warning light
is on, it could mean that the front air
bag, side air bag, curtain air bag systems
and/or pretensioner seat belt will not
operate in an accident. To help avoid
injury to yourself or others, have your
vehicle checked. It is recommended you
visit an INFINITI retailer for this service.
Vehicle Dynamic Control
(VDC) warning light
When the ignition switch is in the ON position, the Vehicle Dynamic Control
(VDC) warning light illuminates and then
turns off.
The light will blink when the VDC system or
the traction control system is operating, thus
alerting the driver that the vehicle is nearing
its traction limits. The road surface may be
slippery.
When the VDC warning light illuminates
when the VDC system is turned on, this light
alerts the driver to the fact that the VDC
system’s fail-safe mode is operating, for
example the VDC, active trace control, rise-
up and build-up function, brake force dis-
tribution or hill start assist system may not
be functioning properly. Have the system
checked. It is recommended you visit an
INFINITI retailer for this service. If a mal-
function occurs in the system, the VDC
system function will be canceled but the
vehicle is still driveable. For additional
information, see “Vehicle Dynamic Control
(VDC) system” (P.5-130).
INDICATOR LIGHTS
Approaching Vehicle Sound for
Pedestrians (VSP) OFF indicator
light
This light comes on if there is a malfunction
in the Approaching Vehicle Sound for Pe-
destrians (VSP) system. (See “Approaching
Vehicle Sound for Pedestrians (VSP) system”
(P.Hybrid System-9) for the VSP system.)
ECO drive indicator light
When the ignition switch is pushed to the
ON position, the light will come on and then
turn off.
When the INFINITI Drive Mode Selector is
turned to the ECO mode, the ECO drive
indicator light will illuminate, blink or remain
off depending on the accelerator pedal
operation to help assist the driver to drive
economically. For more details, see “ECO
mode” (P.5-21).
EV indicator light
This illuminates to indicate the vehicle is
being driven powered only by the motor.
