WARNING
Failure to follow the warnings and instruc-
tions for proper use of the DCA system
could result in serious injury or death.
●DCA helps maintain a distance to the
vehicle in front under certain condi-
tions. It is not a collision avoidance sys-
tem. Failure to apply the brakes could
result in an accident.
●Always drive carefully and attentively
when using the DCA system. Read and
understand the Owner’s Manual thor-
oughly before using the DCA system.
Do not use the DCA system except in
appropriate road and traffic conditions.
●If the vehicle ahead comes to a stop, the
vehicle decelerates to a standstill
within the limitations of the system. The
system will cancel once it judges that
the vehicle has come to a standstill with
a warning chime. To prevent the vehicle
from moving, the driver must depress
the brake pedal.
●The DCA system will not apply brake
control while the driver’s foot is on the
accelerator pedal.The DCA system brakes and moves the accelera-
tor pedal upward according to the distance from
and the relative speed of the vehicle ahead to
help assist the driver to maintain a following dis-
tance.
DCA SYSTEM OPERATION
Always pay attention to the operation of the ve-
hicle and be ready to manually decelerate to
maintain the proper following distance. The DCA
system may not be able to decelerate the vehicle
under some circumstances.
The DCA system uses a sensor
Alocated be-
hind the front bumper of the vehicle to detect
vehicles traveling ahead. The sensor generally
detects the signals returned from the vehicle
ahead. Therefore, if the sensor cannot detect the
reflection from the vehicle ahead, the DCA sys-
tem may not operate.

The DCA system helps assist the driver to keep a
following distance to the vehicle ahead by brak-
ing and moving the accelerator pedal upward in
the normal driving condition.
When a vehicle is detected ahead:
The vehicle ahead detection indicator comes on.
When vehicle approaches a vehicle ahead:
●If the driver’s foot is not on the accelerator
pedal, the system activates the brakes to
decelerate smoothly as necessary. If the ve-
hicle ahead comes to a stop, the vehicle
decelerates to a standstill within the limita-
tions of the system.
●If the driver’s foot is on the accelerator pedal,
the system moves the accelerator pedal up-
ward to assist the driver to release the ac-
celerator pedal.
When brake operation by driver is required:
The system alerts the driver by a warning chime
and blinking the vehicle ahead detection indica-
tor. If the driver’s foot is on the accelerator pedal
after the warning, the system moves the accel-
erator pedal upward to assist the driver to switch
to the brake pedal.The stoplights of the vehicle come on when
braking is performed by the DCA system.
When the brake operates, a noise may be
heard. This is not a malfunction.
WARNING
●When the vehicle ahead detection indi-
cator light is not illuminated, the system
will not control or warn the driver.
●Depending on the position of the accel-
erator pedal, the system may not be
able to assist the driver to release the
accelerator pedal appropriately.
●If the vehicle ahead comes to a stand-
still, the vehicle decelerates to a stand-
still within the limitations of the system.
The system will release brake control
with a warning chime once it judges the
vehicle is at a standstill. To prevent the
vehicle from moving, the driver must
depress the brake pedal. (The system
will resume control automatically once
the system reaches 3 mph (5 km/h)) .Overriding the system:
The following driver’s operations override the
system operation.
●When the driver depresses the accelerator
pedal even further while the system is mov-
ing the accelerator pedal upward, the DCA
system control of the accelerator pedal is
canceled.
●When the driver’s foot is on the accelerator
pedal, the brake control by the system is not
operated.
●When the driver’s foot is on the brake pedal,
neither the brake control nor the alert by the
system operates.
●When the ICC system is set, the DCA sys-
tem will be cancelled.

The following are some conditions in which the
sensor cannot detect the signals:
●When the reflector of the vehicle ahead is
covered with dirt, snow and road spray
●When dense exhaust or other smoke (black
smoke) from vehicles reduces the sensor’s
detection
●When excessively heavy baggage is loaded
in the rear seat or the luggage room of your
vehicle
The DCA system is designed to automatically
check the sensor’s operation. When the front
bumper area around the distance sensor is cov-
ered with dirt or is obstructed, the system will
automatically cancel. If the front bumper area of
the distance sensor is covered with ice, a trans-
parent or translucent vinyl bag, etc., the DCA
system may not detect them. In these instances,
the vehicle-to-vehicle distance control mode may
not cancel and may not be able to maintain the
selected following distance from the vehicle
ahead. Be sure to check and clean the front
bumper area around the distance sensor regu-
larly.The DCA system is designed to help assist the
driver to maintain a following distance from the
vehicle ahead. The system will decelerate as nec-
essary and if the vehicle ahead comes to a stop,
the vehicle decelerates to a standstill. However,
the DCA system can only apply up to 40% of the
vehicle’s total braking power. If a vehicle moves
into the traveling lane ahead or if a vehicle travel-
ing ahead rapidly decelerates, the distance be-
tween vehicles may become closer because the
DCA system cannot decelerate the vehicle
quickly enough. If this occurs, the DCA system
will sound a warning chime and blink the system
display to notify the driver to take necessary
action.
For additional information, refer to “Approach
warning” in this section.
This system only brakes and moves the accelera-
tor pedal upward to help assist the driver to
maintain a following distance from the vehicle
ahead. Acceleration should be operated by the
driver.
The DCA system does not control vehicle speed
or warn you when you approach stationary and
slow moving vehicles. You must pay attention to
vehicle operation to maintain proper distance
from vehicles ahead.

Depending on vehicle speed and distance to the
vehicle ahead, as well as driving and roadway
conditions, the system may help the driver avoid a
forward collision or may help mitigate the conse-
quences of a collision, should one be unavoid-
able. If the driver is handling the steering wheel,
accelerating or braking, the FEB system will func-
tion later or will not function.
The automatic braking will cease under the fol-
lowing conditions:
●When the steering wheel is turned as far as
necessary to avoid a collision.
●When the accelerator pedal is depressed.
●When there is no longer a vehicle detected
ahead.
If the FEB system has stopped the vehicle, the
vehicle will remain at a standstill for approximately
2 seconds before the brakes are released.

SYSTEM TEMPORARILY
UNAVAILABLE
Condition A
When the radar sensor picks up interference
from another radar source, making it impossible
to detect a vehicle ahead, the FEB system is
automatically turned off.
The FEB system warning light (orange) will illu-
minate.
Action to take
When the above conditions no longer exist, the
FEB system will resume automatically.
Condition B
When the sensor area of the front bumper is
covered with dirt or is obstructed, making it im-
possible to detect a vehicle ahead, the FEB sys-
tem is automatically turned off.
The FEB system warning light (orange) will illu-
minate and the “front radar obstruction” warning
message will appear in the vehicle information
display.Action to take
If the warning light (orange) comes on, stop the
vehicle in a safe place, place the shift lever in the
P (Park) position and turn the engine off. Clean
the radar cover on the lower grille with a soft
cloth, and restart the engine. If the warning light
continues to illuminate, have the FEB system
checked. It is recommended that you visit an
INFINITI retailer for this service.
NOTE:
If the FEB system stops working, the PFCW
system (if so equipped) will also stop work-
ing.
SYSTEM MALFUNCTION
If the FEB system malfunctions, it will be turned
off automatically, a chime will sound, the FEB
warning light (orange) will illuminate and the
warning message [Malfunction] will appear in the
vehicle information display.
Action to take
If the warning light (orange) comes on, stop the
vehicle in a safe location, turn the engine off and
restart the engine. If the warning light continues
to illuminate, have the FEB systems checked. It is
recommended that you visit an INFINITI retailer
for this service.
SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
The radar sensorAis located behind the lower
grille of the front bumper.
To keep the system operating properly, be sure to
observe the following:
●Always keep the sensor area of the front
bumper clean.
●Do not strike or damage the areas around
the sensor.
●Do not cover or attach stickers or similar
objects on the front bumper near the sensor
area. This could cause failure or malfunction.

SYSTEM OPERATION
The PFEB system operates when vehicle speed
is within the range of approximately 5 to 50 mph
(10 to 80 km/h).
(The system will not activate for a stationary ve-
hicle or a pedestrian when the vehicle is driven at
speeds faster than approximately 37 mph
(60 km/h).)
If a risk of a forward collision is detected, the
PFEB system will provide the first warning to the
driver by flashing the warning light, providing an
audible warning and applying partial braking.
If the driver’s collision avoidance operation is not
sufficient and the risk of collision is increased, the
system issues the second visual warning and
audible warning, and applies harder braking im-
mediately before the collision.
NOTE:
The vehicle’s stop lights come on when
braking is performed by the PFEB system.
Depending on vehicle speed and distance to the
vehicle ahead or pedestrian, as well as driving
and roadway conditions, the system may help the
driver avoid a forward collision or may help miti-
gate the consequences if a collision should one
be unavoidable.If the driver is handling the steering wheel, accel-
erating or braking, the PFEB system will function
later or will not function.
The automatic braking will cease under the fol-
lowing conditions:
●When the steering wheel is turned as far as
necessary to avoid a collision.
●When the accelerator pedal is depressed.
●When there is no longer a vehicle or a pe-
destrian detected ahead.
If the PFEB system has stopped the vehicle, the
vehicle will remain at a standstill for approximately
2 seconds before the brakes are released.
PFEB SYSTEM LIMITATIONS
WARNING
●The multi-sensing front camera unit
does not detect the following objects:
– Children and other people who are
of short stature, animals, and
bicycles
– Pedestrians walking at night or in
dark areas such as tunnels
– Oncoming vehicles– Crossing vehicles
– Vehicles parked diagonally
●The multi-sensing front camera unit
may not detect a vehicle or pedestrian
ahead in the following conditions:
– Visibility is poor because of bad
weather conditions such as rain,
snow, fog, dust storms, sandstorms,
and snowstorms.
– Snow, sand or road spray from trav-
eling vehicles.
– The windshield glass in front of the
camera is covered with dirt, water
drops, ice, snow, etc.
– The windshield glass in front of the
camera is fogged up.
– Strong light (for example, sunlight or
high beams from oncoming vehicles)
enters from the front.
– The headlights did not illuminate
during the nighttime or in a tunnel, or
the headlight lenses are extremely
dirty.
– Both tail lights of the vehicle ahead
do not illuminate at night or inside a
tunnel.

Action to take
If the warning light (orange) comes on, stop the
vehicle in a safe place, place the shift lever in the
P (Park) position and turn the engine off. Clean
the radar cover on the lower grille with a soft

ceeding 60 mph (97 km/h) (where legally
allowed) can improve fuel efficiency due

●Maintaining a safe following distance be-
hind other vehicles reduces unnecessary
braking.
●Safely monitoring traffic to anticipate
changes in speed permits reduced brak-
ing and smooth acceleration changes.

5.Use Cruise Control
●Using cruise control during highway driv-

6.Plan for the Shortest Route●Utilize a map or navigation system to de-

The AWD high temperature message may be
displayed while trying to free a stuck vehicle due
to increased oil temperature. The driving mode
may change to 2-wheel drive. If this message is
displayed, stop the vehicle with the engine idling,
as soon as it is safe to do so. Then if the message
turns off, you can continue driving.The tire size message may be displayed if there is
a large difference between the diameters of front
and rear wheels. Pull off the road in a safe area,
with the engine idling. Check that all tire sizes are
the same, that the tire pressure is correct and that
the tires are not excessively worn.
If any warning messages continue to be dis-
played, have your vehicle checked as soon as
possible. It is recommended that you visit an
INFINITI retailer for this service.
WARNING
●Do not drive beyond the performance
capability of the tires. Accelerating
quickly, sharp steering maneuvers or
sudden braking may cause loss of con-
trol, even with Intelligent AWD
engaged.
●For AWD equipped vehicles, do not at-
tempt to raise two wheels off the
ground and shift the transmission to
any drive or reverse position with the
engine running. Doing so may result in
drivetrain damage or unexpected ve-
hicle movement which could result in
serious personal injury or vehicle
damage.
