Before customizing or restoring the front
bumper, it is recommended that you visit an
INFINITI retailer.
The camera sensor is located above the in-
side mirror.
To keep the proper operation of the systems
and prevent a system malfunction, be sure to
observe the following:
• Always keep the windshield clean.
• Do not attach a sticker (including transpar-ent material) or install an accessory near
the camera unit.
• Do not place reflective materials, such as white paper or a mirror, on the instrument
panel. The reflection of sunlight may ad-
versely affect the camera unit’s capability
of detecting the lane markers.
• Do not strike or damage the areas around the camera unit. Do not touch the camera
lens or remove the screw located on the
camera unit.
If the camera unit is damaged due to an
accident, it is recommended that you visit an
INFINITI retailer.STEERING ASSIST
WARNING
Failure to follow the warnings and instruc-
tions for proper use of the Steering Assist
could result in serious injury or death.
• The Steering Assist is not a replacement
for proper driving procedures and is not
designed to correct careless, inattentive
or absent-minded driving. The Steering
Assist will not always steer the vehicle to
keep it in the lane. It is not designed to
prevent loss of control. It is the driver’s
responsibility to stay alert, drive safely,
keep the vehicle in the traveling lane, and
be in control of the vehicle at all times.
• As there is a performance limit to the
Steering Assist’s capability, never rely
solely on the system. The Steering Assist
does not function in all driving, traffic,
weather, and road conditions. Always
drive safely, pay attention to the opera-
tion of the vehicle, and manually control
your vehicle appropriately.
• The Steering Assist is intended for use on
well-developed freeways or highways
with gentle (moderate) curves. To avoid
risk of an accident, do not use this system
on local or non-highway roads. •
The Steering Assist only steers the ve-
hicle to maintain its position in the center
of a lane. The vehicle will not steer to
avoid objects in the road in front of the
vehicle or to avoid a vehicle moving into
your lane.
• It is the driver’s responsibility to stay
alert, drive safely, keep the vehicle in the
traveling lane, and be in control of the
vehicle at all times. Never take your
hands off the steering wheel when driv-
ing. Always keep your hands on the
steering wheel and drive your vehicle
safely.
• Always drive carefully and attentively
when using the Steering Assist. Read
and understand the Owner’s Manual
thoroughly before using the Steering As-
sist. To avoid serious injury or death, do
not rely on the system to prevent acci-
dents or to control the vehicle’s speed in
emergency situations. Do not use the
Steering Assist except in appropriate
road and traffic conditions.

–Low objects
– Narrow objects
– Wedge-shaped objects
– Objects close to the bumper (less than
approximately 1 ft [30 cm])
– Objects that suddenly appear
– Thin objects such as rope, wire, chain,
etc.
• The RAB system may not operate for the
following obstacles:
– Obstacles located high off the ground
– Obstacles in a position offset from
your vehicle
– Obstacles, such as spongy materials
or snow, that have soft outer sur-
faces and can easily absorb a sound
wave
• The RAB system may not operate in the
following conditions:
– There is rain, snow, ice, dirt, etc., at-
tached to the sonar sensors.
– A loud sound is heard in the area
around the vehicle.
– The surface of the obstacle is diago-
nal to the rear of the vehicle. •
The RAB system may unintentionally op-
erate in the following conditions:
– There is overgrown grass in the area
around the vehicle.
– There is a structure (e.g., a wall, toll
gate equipment, a narrow tunnel, a
parking lot gate) near the side of the
vehicle.
– There are bumps, protrusions, or
manhole covers on the road surface.
– The vehicle drives through a draped
flag or a curtain.
– There is an accumulation of snow or
ice behind the vehicle.
– An ultrasonic wave source, such as
another vehicle’s sonar, is near the
vehicle.
• Once the automatic brake control oper-
ates, it does not operate again if the ve-
hicle approaches the same obstacle.
• The automatic brake control can only
operate for a short period of time. There-
fore, the driver must depress the brake
pedal.
• In the following situations, the RAB sys-
tem may not operate properly or may not
function sufficiently:
– The vehicle is driven in bad weather
(rain, fog, snow, etc.). –
The vehicle is driven on a steep hill.
– The vehicle’s posture is changed (e.g.,
when driving over a bump).
– The vehicle is driven on a slippery
road.
– The vehicle is turned sharply by turn-
ing the steering wheel fully.
– Snow chains are used.
– Wheels or tires other than INFINITI
recommended are used.
– The brakes are cold at low ambient
temperatures or immediately after
driving has started.
– The braking force becomes poor due
to wet brakes after driving through a
puddle or washing the vehicle.
• Turn the RAB system off in the following
conditions to prevent the occurrence of
an unexpected activatioin resulting from
sudden system operation:
– The vehicle is towed.
– The vehicle is carried on a flatbed
truck.
– The vehicle is on the chassis
dynamometer.
– The

vehicle drives on an uneven road
surface.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM
(ABS)
WARNING
• The ABS is a sophisticated device, but it
cannot prevent accidents resulting from
careless or dangerous driving tech-
niques. It can help maintain vehicle con-
trol during braking on slippery surfaces.
Remember that stopping distances on
slippery surfaces will be longer than on
normal surfaces even with ABS. Stop-
ping distances may also be longer on
rough, gravel or snow covered roads, or
if you are using tire chains. Always main-
tain a safe distance from the vehicle in
front of you. Ultimately, the driver is re-
sponsible for safety.
• Tire type and condition may also affect
braking effectiveness.
– When replacing tires, install the
specified size of tires on all four
wheels. –
When installing a spare tire, make
sure that it is the proper size and type
as specified on the Tire and Loading
Information label. For additional in-
formation, see “Tire and Loading In-
formation label” (P. 8-30).
– For additional information, see
“Wheels and tires” (P. 8-28).
The ABS controls the brakes so the wheels do
not lock during hard braking or when braking
on slippery surfaces. The system detects the
rotation speed at each wheel and varies the
brake fluid pressure to prevent each wheel
from locking and sliding. By preventing each
wheel from locking, the system helps the
driver maintain steering control and helps to
minimize swerving and spinning on slippery
surfaces.
Using the system
Depress the brake pedal and hold it down.
Depress the brake pedal with firm steady
pressure, but do not pump the brakes. The
Anti-lock Braking System will operate to pre-
vent the wheels from locking up. Steer the
vehicle to avoid obstacles.
WARNING
Do not pump the brake pedal. Doing so may
result in increased stopping distances.
Self-test feature
The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) includes
electronic sensors, electric pumps, hydraulic
solenoids and a computer. The computer has
a built-in diagnostic feature that tests the
system each time you start the engine and
move the vehicle at a low speed in forward or
reverse. When the self-test occurs, you may
hear a “clunk” noise and/or feel a pulsation in
the brake pedal. This is normal and does not
indicate a malfunction. If the computer
senses a malfunction, it switches the ABS off
and illuminates the ABS warning light on the
instrument panel. The brake system then op-
erates normally but without anti-lock
assistance.
If the ABS warning light illuminates during
the self-test or while driving, have the vehicle
checked. It is recommended that you visit an
INFINITI retailer for this service.

Normal operation
The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) operates
at speeds above3-6mph(5-10km/h). The
speed varies according to road conditions.
When the ABS senses that one or more
wheels are close to locking up, the actuator
rapidly applies and releases hydraulic pres-
sure. This action is similar to pumping the
brakes very quickly. You may feel a pulsation
in the brake pedal and hear a noise from
under the hood or feel a vibration from the
actuator when it is operating. This is normal
and indicates that the ABS is operating prop-
erly. However, the pulsation may indicate
that road conditions are hazardous and extra
care is required while driving.
BRAKE ASSIST
When the force applied to the brake pedal
exceeds a certain level, the Brake Assist is
activated generating greater braking force
than a conventional brake booster even with
light pedal force.
WARNING
The Brake Assist is only an aid to assist
braking operation and is not a collision
warning or avoidance device. It is the driv-
er’s responsibility to stay alert, drive safely
and be in control of the vehicle at all times. • The ABLS system uses automatic braking
to transfer power from a slipping drive
wheel to the wheel on the same axle with
more traction. The ABLS system applies
braking to the slipping wheel, which helps
redirect power to the other wheel.
• The ABLS system is always on. In some conditions, the system may automatically
turn the ABLS system off. If the system is
automatically turned off, normal brake
function will continue. ABLS will function
even when the Vehicle Dynamic Control
system is turned off.
• The ABLS does not operate if both wheels on a drive axle are slipping.
WARNING
• The ABLS system helps provide in-
creased traction, but will not prevent ac-
cidents due to abrupt steering operation
or by careless driving or dangerous driv-
ing practices. Reduce vehicle speed and
be especially careful when driving and
cornering on slippery surfaces. Always
drive carefully.

Floor mat installation for 3rd row
seats
When installing Genuine INFINITI floor mats
in the 3rd row seating positions:
1. Position the floor mat in the floorwell sothat the floor mat’s installation tabs are
aligned with the rearmost part of 2nd row
seat tracks.
2. Insert the floor mat installation tabs
OAunderneath the 2nd row seat tracksOBand ensure that the floor mat is properly
positioned. It is recommended that you visit an INFINITI
retailer for details about installing the floor
mats in your vehicle.
SEAT BELTS
The seat belts can be cleaned by wiping them
with a sponge dampened in a mild soap solu-
tion. Allow the belts to dry completely in the
shade before using them. For additional in-
formation, see “Seat belt maintenance”
(P. 1-25).
WARNING
Do not allow wet seat belts to roll up in the
retractor. NEVER use bleach, dye or
chemical solvents to clean the seat belts,
since these materials may severely weaken
the seat belt webbing.
CLEANING THE SEAT TRACKS
CAUTION
Periodically clean the seat tracks to pre-
vent reduction of ability to move the seats.
Clean periodically with a high-powered
vacuum cleaner. Dirt and debris may reduce
the ability to adjust the seat. A wet cleansing
agent may be used if necessary.
MOST COMMON FACTORS
CONTRIBUTING TO VEHICLE
CORROSION
Most vehicle corrosion is caused by:
• The accumulation of moisture-retaining dirt and debris in body panel sections, cavi-
ties, and other areas.
• Damage to paint and other protective coatings caused by gravel and stone chips
or minor traffic collisions.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
INFLUENCE THE RATE OF
CORROSION
Moisture
Accumulation of sand, dirt and water on the
vehicle body underside can accelerate corro-
sion. Wet floor coverings will not dry com-
pletely inside the vehicle and should be re-
moved for drying to avoid floor panel
corrosion.
Relative humidity
Corrosion will be accelerated in areas of high
relative humidity, especially those areas
where the temperatures stay above freezing
and where atmospheric pollution exists and
road salt is used.

WARNING
• Operating the engine with the air cleaner
filter off can cause you or others to be
burned. The air cleaner filter not only
cleans the intake air, it also stops the
flame if the engine backfires. If the air
cleaner is not installed and the engine
backfires, you could be burned. Never
drive with the air cleaner filter off. Be
cautious working on the engine when the
air cleaner is off. •
Never pour fuel into the throttle body or
attempt to start the engine with the air
cleaner removed. Doing so could result in
serious injury.
To remove the filter from the air cleaner, push
the tabs
OAand pull the cover upward.
The dry paper type filter element may be
cleaned and reused. Replace the air filter ac-
cording to the maintenance log shown in the
“Maintenance and schedules” section of this
manual.
When replacing the air filter, wipe the inside
of the air cleaner housing and the cover with
a damp cloth.
NOTE:
After installing a new air cleaner filter,
make sure the air cleaner cover is seated in
the housing and latch the clips
OA.
IN-CABIN MICROFILTER
The in-cabin microfilter restricts the entry of
airborne dust and pollen particles and re-
duces some objectionable outside odors. The
filter is located behind the glove box. See the
"Maintenance and schedules" section of this
manual for change intervals.
If replacement is required, it is recommended
that you visit an INFINITI retailer for this
service.

• Lock the trailer hitch coupler with a pin orlock to prevent the coupler from inadver-
tently becoming unlatched.
• Avoid abrupt starts, acceleration or stops.
• Avoid sharp turns or lane changes.
• Always drive your vehicle at a moderate speed.
• When backing up, hold the bottom of the steering wheel with one hand. Move your
hand in the direction in which you want the
trailer to go. Make small corrections and
back up slowly. If possible, have someone
guide you when you are backing up.
Always block the wheels on both vehicle and
trailer when parking. Parking on a slope is not
recommended; however, if you must do so:
CAUTION
If you push the park button to engage the P
(Park) position before blocking the wheels
and applying the parking brake, transmis-
sion damage could occur. 1. Apply and hold the brake pedal.
2. Have someone place blocks on the down-
hill side of the vehicle and trailer wheels.
3. After the wheel blocks are in place, slowly release the brake pedal until the blocks
absorb the vehicle load.
4. Apply the parking brake.
5. Push the park button to engage the P (Park) position.
6. Turn off the engine.
To drive away:
1. Start the vehicle.
2. Apply and hold the brake pedal.
3. Shift the transmission into gear.
4. Release the parking brake.
5. Drive slowly until the vehicle and trailer are clear from the blocks.
6. Apply and hold the brake pedal.
7. Have someone retrieve and store the blocks. • While going downhill, the weight of the
trailer pushing on the tow vehicle may de-
crease overall stability. Therefore, to main-
tain adequate control, reduce your speed
and shift to a lower gear. Avoid long or
repeated use of the brakes when descend-
ing a hill, as this reduces their effectiveness
and could cause overheating. Shifting to a
lower gear instead provides “engine brak-
ing” and reduces the need to brake as
frequently.
• If the engine coolant temperature rises to a high temperature, see “If your vehicle over-
heats” (P. 6-14).
• Trailer towing requires more fuel than nor- mal circumstances.
• Avoid towing a trailer for your vehicle's first 500 miles (805 km).
•For the first 500 miles (805 km) that you do
tow, do not drive over 50 mph (80 km/h).
• Have your vehicle serviced more often than at intervals specified in the recommended
maintenance schedule in the “Maintenance
and schedules” section of this manual.
• When making a turn, your trailer wheels will be closer to the inside of the turn than your
vehicle wheels. To compensate for this,
make a larger than normal turning radius
during the turn.
