SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
The two radar sensorsO1for the BSW and
RCTA systems are located near the rear
bumper. Always keep the area near the radar
sensors clean.
The radar sensors may be blocked by tempo-
rary ambient conditions such as splashing
water, mist or fog.
The blocked condition may also be caused by
objects such as ice, frost or dirt obstructing
the radar sensors.
Check for and remove objects obstructing
the area around the radar sensors. Do not attach stickers (including transparent
material), install accessories or apply addi-
tional paint near the radar sensors.
Do not strike or damage the area around the
radar sensors. It is recommended that you
consult an INFINITI retailer if the area around
the radar sensors is damaged due to a
collision.

Failure to follow the warnings and instruc-
tions for proper use of the RCTA system
could result in serious injury or death.
• The RCTA system is not a replacement
for proper driving procedures and is not
designed to prevent contact with ve-
hicles or objects. When backing out of a
parking space, always use the side and
rear mirrors and turn and look in the di-
rection your vehicle will move. Never rely
solely on the RCTA system.
• Do not use the RCTA system when tow-
ing a trailer. The system may not func-
tion properly. The RCTA system will assist you when back-
ing out from a parking space. When the ve-
hicle is in reverse, the system is designed to
detect other vehicles approaching from the
right or left of the vehicle. If the system de-
tects cross traffic, it will alert you.

CONVENTIONAL (fixed speed)
CRUISE CONTROL MODE
NOTE:
ProPILOT Assist provides no approach
warnings, automatic braking, or steering as-
sist in the conventional (fixed speed) cruise
control mode.
This mode allows driving at a speed between
25 to 90 mph (40 to 144 km/h) without
keeping your foot on the accelerator pedal.
WARNING
• In the conventional (fixed speed) cruise
control mode, a warning chime does not
sound to warn you if you are too close to
the vehicle ahead, as neither the pres-
ence of the vehicle ahead nor the vehicle-
to-vehicle distance is detected.
• Pay special attention to the distance be-
tween your vehicle and the vehicle ahead
of you or a collision could occur.
• Always confirm the setting in the ICC
system display.
• Do not use the conventional (fixed
speed) cruise control mode when driving
under the following conditions:
– When it is not possible to keep the
vehicle at a set speed
– In heavy traffic or in traffic that var-
ies in speed
– On winding or hilly roads
–
On slippery roads (rain, snow, ice, etc.)
– In very windy areas
• Doing so could cause a loss of vehicle
control and result in an accident.

•When the rear window defroster switch is
on.
• When the temperature inside the vehicle is
lower than approximately 20°C (68°F),
unless the Air Conditioning ECO custom-
ize option is selected, and the ECO driving
mode is on.
• When the temperature inside the vehicle is
higher than approximately 30°C (86°F),
unless the Air Conditioning ECO custom-
ize option is selected, and the ECO driving
mode is on. (When the air conditioner is
off, the Idling Stop System will operate.)
• When the fan speed of the air conditioner
is set to the maximum speed, unless the Air
Conditioning ECO customize option is se-
lected, and the ECO driving mode is on.
• When the Idling Stop OFF switch is turned
on.
• When the power consumption is large.
• When the altitude is high.
• When the accelerator pedal is depressed.
• When the shift lever is any range other
than D (Drive).
• When the brake pedal is not firmly
depressed.
• When stopping the vehicle on steep slop-
ing roads.NOTE:
The Idling Stop System may not activate
when the Intelligent Key is not in the vehicle
and you open/close any door.
NOTE:
The engine will not restart even if the brake
pedal is released while the Idling Stop Sys-
tem is activated under the following condi-
tions: (The engine may restart under other
conditions.)
• When the automatic brake hold system is
activated.
• When the engine hood is opened.
NOTE:
It may take some time until the Idling Stop
System activates under the following
conditions:
•When the battery is discharged.
• When the outside temperature is low or
high.
• When the battery is replaced or the bat-
tery terminal is disconnected for extended
periods and then reconnected.
NOTE:
When the Idling Stop System indicator light
illuminates, the engine starts running auto-
matically under at least one of the following
conditions:
• The vacuum pressure for brake system is
not enough as the brake pedal is repeat-
edly depressed.
• The driver’s seat belt is unfastened, or the
driver’s door is open.
• The battery voltage becomes low (due to
electrical load from other vehicle systems
like headlights, heaters, etc., or auxiliary
devices connected to the 12 volt socket
inside the vehicle).
• The vehicle speed is above about 1 mph
(2 km/h).
• When the rear window defroster is
operated.
• When the temperature inside the vehicle is
lower than approximately 68°F (20°C),
