Installation
32. Remove and discard the sixt een sealing rings from the
injectors.
33. Remove the throttle induction elbow from the inlet manifold.
1. Remove the seven bolts which secure the throttle induction elbow.
2. Remove the elbow.
3. Remove the induction elbow seal from the manifold.
1. Clean all parts and relevant mating faces.
2. Fit the fuel pressure regulator to the manifold.
1. Lubricate and fit a new O-ri ng seal to the regulator.
2. Fit the pressure regulator to the manifold.
3. Fit the two bolts which secu re the pressure regulator.
3. Fit the fuel feed pipe to the manifold.
1. Lubricate and fit a new O-ri ng seal to the feed pipe.

2. Fit the feed pipe to the manifold.
3. Fit the two bolts which secure the feed pipe.
4. Fit the fuel cross over elbow to the inlet manifold.
1. Lubricate and fit new O-ri ng seals to the cross over
elbow.
2. Fit the cross over elbow to the manifold.
3. Fit the one bolt each side which secures the cross over elbow.
5. Fit the sealing rings to the fuel injectors.
1. Lubricate and fit the sixteen (two to each injector) new sealing rings.
6. Fit the fuel injectors to the intake manifold.
1. Locate the injectors into the manifold.
2. Position the injector clamping plates.
3. Fit the securing screws for each fuel injector.
7. Fit the throttle induction elbow to the inlet manifold.
1. Fit a new induction elbow seal to the manifold.
2. Fit the elbow.
3. Fit the seven bolts which secure the throttle induction

elbow.
8. Refit the Manifold Assembly to the Engine, as follows.
9. Fit eight new seals to the inlet manifold ports.
10. Fit the inlet manifold to the engine.
1. Fit the inlet manifold.
2. Fit the ten bolts which secure the inlet manifold.
11. Connect the fuel feed hose.
1. Connect the fuel feed hose at the Quick Fit connector. Ensure that the hose is fully seated to the feed pipe.
12. Connect the fuel return hose.
1. Connect the fuel return hose at the Quick Fit
connector. Ensure th at the hose is fully seated to the
feed pipe.

24. Disconnect the fuel return hose.
1. Disconnect the fuel retu rn hose at the Quick Fit
connector, using special tool 310 - 054.
25. Remove the inlet manifold.
1. Remove the ten bolts which secure the inlet manifold.
2. Remove the inlet manifold
26. Remove and discard the eight se als from the inlet manifold
ports.
1. Clean all parts and relevant mating faces.
2. Fit eight new seals to the inlet manifold ports.

3. Fit the inlet manifold to the engine.
1. Fit the inlet manifold.
2. Fit the ten bolts which secure the inlet manifold.
4. Connect the fuel feed hose.
1. Connect the fuel feed hose at the Quick Fit connector. Ensure that the hose is fully seated to the feed pipe.
5. Connect the fuel return hose.
1. Connect the fuel return hose at the Quick Fit
connector. Ensure th at the hose is fully seated to the
feed pipe.
6. Reconnect the electrical connector to each fuel injector.

Special Tool(s)
Valve spring compressor
303-252 1. Open the engine compartment and fit paintwork protection
sheets.
2. Set the engine compartment cover to the service access
position.
3. Disconnect the batt ery ground cable.
Remove the battery cover.
4. Remove the Timing Co ver. Refer to Operation 12.65.01 in this
Section. This operation includes draining the coolant from the
radiator and removing the cam covers.
5. Remove the Inlet Manifold. Refer to Operation 30.15.01 in this
Section. This operation includes depressurising the fuel system
and removing the throttle housing.
6. Remove the Cylinder Head an d Gasket. Refer to Operation
12.29.02 in this Section.
7. Remove the valve collets from the first valve.
1. Fit the valve spring compressor 303 - 252 to the relevant spring.
2. Compress the spring and remove the collets.
8. Remove the valve spring.
Remove the valve spring compressor 303 - 252.
1. Remove the valve collar.
2. Remove the valve spring.

9. Repeat the instructions for each valve spring to be removed.
10. Clean all relevant components.
1. Fit the valve spring.
1. Fit the valve spring.
2. Locate the valve collar onto the spring.
2. Refit the valve collets to the first valve.
1. Fit the valve spring compressor 303 - 252 to the relevant spring.
2. Compress the spring and fit the collets.
Remove the valve spring compressor and check that the
collets are correctly seated.
3. Repeat the instructions for each valve spring to be fitted.
4. Refit the Cylinder Head and Gasket. Refer to Operation
12.29.03 in this Section.
5. Refit the Inlet Manifold. Refer to Operation 30.15.01 in this
Section. This operation includes refitting the throttle housing.
6. Refit the Timing Cover. Refer to Operation 12.65.01 in this
Section. This operation includes refitting the cam covers and
refilling the coolant system.
7. Move the engine compartment co ver from the service position
and connect the gas struts.
8. Remove the paint protection sheets and close the cover.
9. Connect the battery and fit the battery cover.
Refer to the Battery Reconnection Procedure 86.15.15.

2. Disconnect battery ground cable (IMPORTANT, see SRO
86.15.19 for further information).
3. Re
move inlet manifold
fuel cross-over pipe.

to collect any spillage.
Remove e
lbow securing screws.

onnect first elbow.
Disc
onnect remaining elbow and remove assembly.
Discard O
-
ring seals
from pipe elbows.
Clean relevant parts and mating faces.
1. NOTE : Install
and lubricate new O-ring seals.
Installation is th e reverse of the removal procedure.
