Headrest (for front seat)
The driver's and front passenger's seats are equipped with a headrest
for the occupant's safety and comfort.
The headrest not only provides com-
fort for the driver and front passen-
ger, but also helps protect the head
and neck in the event of a collision.Adjusting the height up and down
To raise the headrest, pull it up to the
desired position (1). To lower theheadrest, push and hold the release
button (2) and lower the headrest tothe desired position (3).

WARNING
For maximum effectiveness in case of an accident, the head- rest should be adjusted so the
middle of the headrest is at thesame height of the center of
gravity of an occupant's head.
Generally, the center of gravityof most people's head is simi-lar with the height of the top of
their eyes. Also, adjust the
headrest as close to your head
as possible. For this reason,the use of a cushion that holds
the body away from the seat-
back is not recommended.
Do not operate the vehicle with the headrests removed. Severe
injury to the occupants may
occur in the event of an acci-
dent. Headrests may provide
protection against neck injuries
when properly adjusted.
Do not adjust the headrest position of the driver’s seat
while the vehicle is in motion.

Forward and backward adjustment(if equipped)
The headrest may be adjusted for-
ward to 3 different positions by
pulling the headrest forward to thedesired detent.
To adjust the headrest to it’s furthest
backwards position, pull the headrest
fully forward to the farthest positionand release it. Adjust the headrest so that it proper-
ly supports the head and neck. Removal/Reinstall
To remove the headrest:
1. Recline the seatback (2) with the
recline lever or switch (1).
2. Raise headrest as far as it can go.
3. Press the headrest release button
(3) while pulling the headrest up (4).

If you recline the seatback
towards the front with the head-rest and seat cushion raised, the headrest may come in con-tact with the sunvisor or otherparts of the vehicle.

To reinstall the headrest:
1. Put the headrest poles (2) into the
holes while pressing the release
button (1).
2. Recline the seatback(4) with the recline lever or switch (3).
3. Adjust the headrest to the appro- priate height.
WARNING
NEVER allow anyone to ride in a
seat with the headrest removed.

Active headrest (if equipped)
The active headrest is designed to
move forward and upward during a
rear impact. This helps prevent the
driver's and front passenger’s heads
from moving backward and thus
helps minimize neck injuries.Seatback pocket
The seatback pocket is provided on
the back of the front passenger’s and
driver’s seatbacks.
WARNING
A gap between the seat and the
headrest release button mayappear when seating on the seat
or when you push or pull the
seat. Be careful not to get your
finger, etc. caught in the gap.

To fold down the rear seatback
1. Insert the rear seat belt buckle in
the pocket between the rear seat-
back and cushion, and insert the
rear seat belt webbing in the guide
to prevent the seat belt from beingdamaged.
2. Set the front (or 2nd row) seatback to the upright position and if nec-
essary, slide the front (or 2nd row)
seat forward.
3. Lower the rear headrests to the lowest position.

WARNING - Uprighting seat
When you return the seatback
to its upright position, hold the
seatback and return it slowly. If
the seatback is returned with-
out holding it, the back of the
seat could spring forward
resulting in injury caused by
being struck by the seatback.
WARNING - 3rd row seat
The headrest on the 3rd row seat should be adjusted so the
middle of the headrest is at thesame height of the top of the
occupant's eyes.
If the tailgate is pushed down to
close it when a passenger's
head is not against a properlyadjusted headrest or a tall per-
son is seated, the tailgate may
hit the occupant's head, which
could cause injury.
WARNING
When you return the rear seat-
back to its upright position after
being folded down:
Be careful not to damage the
seat belt webbing or buckle. Do
not allow the seat belt webbing
or buckle to get caught or
pinched in the rear seat. Ensure
that the seatback is completely
locked into its upright position
by pushing on the top of the
seatback. Otherwise, in an acci-
dent or sudden stop, the seat
could fold down and allow
cargo to enter the passenger
compartment, which could
result in serious injury or death.

Headrest (for rear seat) The rear seat(s) is equipped with headrests in all the seating positions
for the occupant's safety and comfort.
The headrest not only provides com-
fort for passengers, but also helps
protect the head and neck in the

CAUTION
When there is no occupant in
the rear seats, adjust the heightof the headrest to the lowestposition. The rear seat headrest can reduce the visibility of therear area.

Adjusting the height up and down
To raise the headrest, pull it up to the
desired position (1). To lower theheadrest, push and hold the release
button (2) on the headrest support
and lower the headrest to the desiredposition (3).
Removal
To remove the headrest, raise it as
far as it can go then press the
release button (1) while pulling theheadrest up (2).
To reinstall the headrest, put the headrest poles (3) into the holes
while pressing the release button (1).
Then adjust it to the appropriateheight.

Using a child restraint system
For small children and babies, the
use of a child seat or infant seat is
required. This child seat or infant
seat should be of appropriate size forthe child and should be installed in
accordance with the manufacturer's
instructions.For safety reasons, we recommend
that the child restraint system be
used in the rear seats.

WARNING
Never place a rear-facing child
restraint in the front passenger
seat, because of the danger an
inflating passenger-side air bag
could impact the rear-facing
child restraint and kill the child.
WARNING - Child seat installation
A child can be seriously injured or killed in a collision
if the child restraint is not
properly anchored to the vehi-
cle and the child is not prop-
erly restrained in the child
restraint. Before installing the
child restraint system, read
the instructions supplied by
the child restraint system
manufacturer.

If the seat belt does not oper-ate as described in this sec-
tion, we recommend the sys-
tem to be checked by an
authorized Kia dealer.
Failure to observe this manu- al's instructions regarding
child restraint systems and
the instructions provided with
the child restraint system
could increase the chance

If the vehicle headrest pre- vents proper installation of a
child seat (as described in the
child seat system manual), theheadrest of the respectiveseating position shall be read-
justed or entirely removed.
