Front fog light
Fog lights are used to provide improved
visibility and avoid accidents when visibil-
ity is poor due to fog, rain or snow etc.
The fog lights will turn on when fog light
switch (1) is turned to ON after the park-
ing light is turned on.
To turn off the fog lights, turn the switch
to OFF. Rear fog light (if equipped)
To turn the rear fog lights on, turn the
headlight switch to the headlight on posi-
tion and turn the rear fog light switch (1)to the on position.
The rear fog lights turn on when the rear
fog light switch is turned on after the front
fog light switch is turned on and the
headlight switch is in the parklight posi-tion.
To turn the rear fog lights off, turn the rear
fog light switch to the on position again or
turn the headlight switch off.

NOTICE
To turn on the rear fog light switch, the
ignition switch must be in the ON position.
Headlight leveling device (if equipped)
Manual type
To adjust the headlight beam level
according to the number of passengers
and loading weight in the luggage area,
turn the beam leveling switch.
The higher the number of the switch
position, the lower the headlight beam
level. Always keep the headlight beam at
the proper leveling position, or headlights
may dazzle other road users.
Listed below are the examples of proper
switch settings. For loading conditions
other than those listed below, adjust the
switch position so that the beam level
may be the nearest as the conditionobtained according to the list.

CAUTION
When in operation, the fog lights consume large amounts of vehicleelectrical power. Only use the foglights when visibility is poor orunnecessary battery and generator
drain could occur.

Automatic type
It is automatically adjusted the headlight
beam level according to the number of
the passengers and the loading weight inthe luggage area.
And it offers the proper headlight beam
under the various conditions.Headlight washer (if equipped)
If your vehicle is equipped with the head-
light washer it will be operating at the
same time when you operate the wind-
shield washer. It will operate when the
headlight switch is in the first or second
position and the engine start/stop buttonis in the ON position.
The washer fluid will be sprayed on to the
headlights.

NOTICE
Check the headlight washers periodical-
ly to confirm that the washer fluid is
being sprayed properly onto the head-
light lenses.
WARNING
If it is not working properly even
though your car is inclined back-
ward according to passenger's
posture, or the headlight beam is
irradiated to the high or low posi-
tion, have your vehicle inspected
by an authorized KIA dealer. Don't attempt to inspect or replace
the wiring yourself to prevent mal-function.

Windshield wiper/washer
A : Wiper speed control
· MIST – Single wipe · OFF – Off
· INT – Intermittent wipe AUTO – Auto control wipe (if equipped)
· LO – Low wiper speed· HI – High wiper speed
B : Intermittent or Auto control wipe time adjustment
C : Wash with brief wipes Windshield wipers
Operates as follows when the ignition
switch is turned ON.
MIST : For a single wiping cycle, push
the lever upward and release it
with the lever in the OFF position.
The wipers will operate continu-
ously if the lever is pushed
upward and held.
OFF : Wiper is not in operation
INT : Wiper operates intermittently at the same wiping intervals. Use this
mode in a light rain or mist. To vary
the speed setting, turn the speedcontrol knob(1).
LO : Normal wiper speed
HI : Fast wiper speed
✽✽ NOTICE
If there is heavy accumulation of snow
or ice on the windshield, defrost the
windshield for about 10 minutes, or
until the snow and/or ice is removed
before using the windshield wipers to
ensure proper operation.

Auto control (if equipped)
The rain sensor located on the upper end of the windshield glass senses the
amount of rainfall and controls the wiping
cycle for the proper interval. The more it
rains, the faster the wiper operates.
When the rain stops, the wiper stops.
To vary the speed setting, turn the speed control knob (1).
If the wiper switch is set in AUTO mode
when the ignition switch is ON, the wiper
will operate once to perform a self-check
of the system. Set the wiper to OFF posi-
tion when the wiper is not in use.

Rain sensor
CAUTION
When the ignition switch is ON andthe windshield wiper switch is
placed in the AUTO mode, use cau-tion in the following situations toavoid any injury to the hands or other parts of the body:
Do not touch the upper end of the windshield glass facing the rainsensor.
Do not wipe the upper end of the windshield glass with a damp or
wet cloth.
Do not put pressure on the wind- shield glass.
CAUTION
When washing the vehicle, set thewiper switch in the OFF position to
stop the auto wiper operation.
The wiper may operate and be dam-aged if the switch is set in the AUTOmode while washing the vehicle.
Do not remove the sensor coverlocated on the upper end of the pas- senger side windshield glass.Damage to system parts couldoccur and may not be covered by
your vehicle warranty.
When starting the vehicle in winter,set the wiper switch in the OFF position. Otherwise, wipers mayoperate and ice may damage the
windshield wiper blades. Alwaysremove all snow and ice and defrost the windshield properly prior tooperating the windshield wipers.

Windshield washers
In the OFF position, pull the lever gently
toward you to spray washer fluid on the
windshield and to run the wipers 1-3
cycles. Use this function when the windshield is
dirty.
The spray and wiper operation will con-
tinue until you release the lever.
If the washer does not work, check the
washer fluid level. If the fluid level is not
sufficient, you will need to add appropri-
ate non-abrasive windshield washer fluid
to the washer reservoir.
The reservoir filler neck is located in the
front of the engine compartment on the
passenger side.

CAUTION
To prevent possible damage to the
washer pump, do not operate the
washer when the fluid reservoir isempty.
WARNING
Do not use the washer in freezing
temperatures without first warming
the windshield with the defrosters;
the washer solution could freeze oncontact with the windshield and
obscure your vision.
CAUTION
To prevent possible damage to the wipers or windshield, do notoperate the wipers when the
windshield is dry.
To prevent damage to the wiper blades, do not use gasoline,
kerosene, paint thinner, or othersolvents on or near them.
To prevent damage to the wiper arms and other components, do
not attempt to move the wipersmanually.

INTERIOR LIGHT
Automatic turn off function (if equipped)
The interior lights automatically turn off
approximately 20 minutes after the igni-
tion switch is turned off.
If your vehicle is equipped with the theft
alarm system, the interior lights automat-
ically turns off approximately 3 seconds
after the system is armed stage. ■

Type A
Map lamp
Push the lens to turn the map lamp on or
off. This light produces a spot beam for
convenient use as a map lamp at night or
as a personal lamp for the driver and the
front passenger.
In the DOOR position, the map lamp and the room lamp come
on when any door is openedregardless of the ignition
switch position. When doors
are unlocked by the transmitter
(or smart key), the map lampand the room lamp come on
for approximately 30 seconds
as long as any door is notopen. The map lamp and the room
lamp goes out gradually after
approximately 30 seconds if the
door is closed. However, if the
ignition switch is ON or all doors
are locked, the map lamp and the
room lamp will turn off immedi-
ately. If a door is opened with the
ignition switch in the ACC orLOCK position, the map lamp
and the room lamp stays on for
about 20 minutes. However, if adoor is opened with the ignition
switch in the ON position, themap lamp and the room lamp
stays on continuously.
: The lights turn off even if a door is opened.
When the lamp is turned ON by
pressing the lens (1), the lamp
does not turn off even if the
switch (2) is in the OFF posi-tion.
: The map lamp and the room lamp stay on at all times.
CAUTION
Do not use the interior lights for
extended periods when the engine
is not running.
It may cause battery discharge.

Room lamp
To turn the room lamp push lens (3). ■■
Type B
Map lamp/Room lamp/Mood lamp
Push once to turn on the front and rear lamps. Push once
again to turn the lamps off.
Push once (indicator light on) to turn on the front and rearlamp when the door is opened.Push once again (indicator light
off) to turn off the lamps even ifa door is opened.
Turns off all the lights (except mood lamp).
: Push the switch to turn the map lamp on or off.
The intensity of the mood lamp changes each time you push
the button (MAX ➔MIN ➔ OFF). Room lamp
Push once to turn on the lamps. Push
once again to turn off the lamps.

Trunk room lamp
The trunk room lamp comes on when the
trunk is opened.Door courtesy lamp (if equipped)
The door courtesy lamp comes ON when
the door is opened to assist entering or
exiting the vehicle. It also serves as a
warning to passing vehicles that the vehi-cle door is open.Glove box lamp
The glove box lamp comes on when the
glove box is opened.
The parking lights or headlights must be
ON for the glove box lamp to function.

The trunk room lamp comes on as
long as the trunk lid opens. To pre-vent unnecessary charging systemdrain, close the trunk lid securelyafter using the trunk room.

Vanity mirror lamp
Push the switch to turn the light on or off.
: The lamp will turn on if this button
is pressed.
: The lamp will turn off if this button is pressed.

Welcome light (if equipped)
When all the doors (and trunk) are locked and closed, the puddle lamp and door
handle lamp will come on for about 15
seconds if any of the below is performed.
- When the door unlock button is pressed on the transmitter.
- When the door unlock button is pressed on the smart key.
- When the button of the outside door handle is pressed.
- When the vehicle is approached with the smart key in possession. Also, if the outside rearview mirror folding
switch is in the AUTO position, the out-
side rearview mirror will unfold automati-
cally.
Escort welcome (if equipped)
When the headlight(light switch in the
headlight or AUTO position) is on and all
doors (and trunk) are locked and closed,the position light and headlight will come
on for 15 seconds if any of the below is
performed.
- When the door unlock button is pressed on the transmitter.
- When the door unlock button is pressed on the smart key.
At this time, if you press the door lock or
unlock button, the position light and
headlight will turn off immediately. Interior light
When the interior light switch is in the
DOOR position and all doors (and trunk)
are locked and closed, the room lamp will
come on for 30 seconds if any of the
below is performed.
- When the door unlock button is pressed on the transmitter.
- When the door unlock button is pressed on the smart key.
- When the button of the outside door handle is pressed.
At this time, if you press the door lock or
unlock button, the room lamp will turn off
immediately.
