locked (the engine bonnet and tail-
gate must be closed). Also, the out-
side rearview mirror will automati-
cally fold if the outside rearview
mirror folding switch (Type B) is in
the AUTO position (if equipped).
✽✽ NOTICE
The doors will not lock if any door is 
opened.  
Unlock (2)
1. Press the unlock button. 
2. The hazard warning lights will blink twice to indicate that all 
doors are unlocked. Also, the out-
side rearview mirror will automati-
cally unfold if the outside rearview
mirror folding switch (Type B) is in
the AUTO position (if equipped).
✽✽ NOTICE
After unlocking all doors, the doors 
will lock and the outside rearview
mirror will unfold if the outside
rearview mirror folding switch
(Type B) is in the AUTO position (if
equipped) unless a door is opened
within 30 seconds. 
Tailgate unlock (3) 
1. Press the tailgate unlock button for more than 1 second.
2. The hazard warning light will blink twice to indicate the tailgate is 
unlocked.
✽✽ NOTICE
 After unlocking the tailgate, the tailgate will lock automatically 
unless it is opened within 30 sec-
onds. 
 Once the tailgate is opened and then closed, the tailgate will lock
automatically.
 The word "HOLD" is written on the button to inform you that you
must press and hold the button.

SMART KEY (IF EQUIPPED)
Smart key function 
1. Door lock 
2. Door unlock
3. Tailgate unlock
With a smart key, you can lock or 
unlock a door and tailgate and even
start the engine without inserting the
key. 
The functions of the buttons on a 
smart key are similar to the remote
keyless entry. Refer to the “Remote
keyless entry” in this chapter. Carrying the smart key, you may lock
and unlock the vehicle doors and tail-
gate. 
Also, you may start the engine. Refer 
to the following, for more details.
Locking 
1. Carry the smart key. 
2. Close all doors.
3. Press the button of the outside
door handle.
4. The hazard warning lights will blink once (the engine bonnet and tail- 
gate must be closed). Also, the out-
side rearview mirror will automati-
cally fold if the outside rearview
mirror folding switch is in  the
AUTO position (if equipped).
5. Make sure that doors are locked by pulling the outside door handle.
✽✽ NOTICE
 The button will only operate when the smart key is within 0.7 m (28 
in.) from the outside door handle.
 Even though you press the outside door handle button, the doors will
not lock and the chime will sound
for 3 seconds if any of following
occur:- The smart key is in the vehicle.
- The engine start/stop button is in ACC or ON position.
- Any door except the tailgate is opened.

Unlocking
1. Carry the smart key. 
2. Press the button of the front out-
side door handle.
3. All doors will unlock and the hazard warning lights will blink twice. Also, 
the outside rearview mirror will
automatically unfold if the outside
rearview mirror folding switch is in
the AUTO position (if equipped).
✽✽ NOTICE
 The button will only operate when the smart key is within 0.7 m (28 
in.) from the outside door handle.
 When the smart key is recognized in the area of 0.7 m (28 in.) from
the front outside door handle, other
people can also open the doors.
 After unlocking all doors, the doors will lock and the outside
rearview mirror will unfold if the
outside rearview mirror folding
switch is in the AUTO position (if
equipped) unless a door is opened
within 30 seconds. 
Tailgate unlocking
1. Carry the smart key. 
2. Press the tailgate handle switch.
3. The tailgate will unlock.
✽✽ NOTICE
 Once the tailgate is opened and then closed, the tailgate will lock 
automatically.
 The button will only operate when the smart key is within 0.7 m (28
in.) from the tailgate handle.
Smart key precautions
✽✽ NOTICE
 If, for some reason, you happen to lose your smart key, you will not 
be able to start the engine. Tow the
vehicle, if necessary,  Kia recom-
mends to visit an authorised Kia
dealer/service partner.
 A maximum of 2 smart keys can be registered to a single vehicle.  If
you lose a smart key,  Kia recom-
mends to visit an authorised Kia
dealer/service partner.
 The smart key will not work if any of the following occurs:
- The smart key is close to a radiotransmitter such as a radio sta-
tion or an airport which can
interfere with normal operation
of the smart key.
- The smart key is near a mobile two-way radio system or a
mobile phone.
- Another vehicle’s smart key is being operated close to your
vehicle. (Continued)

Inside rearview mirror 
Adjust the rearview mirror so that the 
centre view through the rear window
is seen. Make this adjustment before
you start driving.Day/night rearview mirror 
(if equipped)
Make this adjustment before you 
start driving and whilst the day/night
lever (3) is in the day position. 
Pull the day/night lever (3) toward 
you to reduce glare from the head-
lights of vehicles behind you during
night driving.
Remember that you lose somerearview clarity in the night position.

MIRRORS
WARNING - 
Rear  visibility
Do not place objects in the rear 
seat or cargo area which would
interfere with your vision out
the rear window.
WARNING 
Do not adjust the rearview mir- 
ror whilst the vehicle is moving.This could result in loss of con-
trol, and an accident which
could cause death, serious
injury or property damage.
WARNING 
Do not modify the inside mirror 
and do not install a wide mirror.
It could result in injury, during
an accident or deployment of
the air bag.

Electric chromic mirror (ECM)(if equipped)
The electric rearview mirror automat- ically controls the glare from the
headlights of the vehicle behind you
in nighttime or low light driving condi-
tions. The sensor mounted in the mir-
ror senses the light level around the
vehicle, and automatically controls
the headlight glare from vehicles
behind you. 
When the engine is running, the glare 
is automatically controlled by the sen-
sor mounted in the rearview mirror. 
Whenever the shift lever is shifted 
into R (Reverse), the mirror will auto-
matically go to the brightest setting in
order to improve the drivers view
behind the vehicle. To operate the electric rearview mirror: 
 The mirror defaults to the ON posi-
tion whenever the ignition switch is 
turned on.
 Press the ON/OFF button (1) to turn the automatic dimming func-
tion off. The mirror indicator light
(2) will turn off. 
Press the ON/OFF button (1) to 
turn the automatic dimming func-
tion on. The mirror indicator light
(2) will illuminate.
❈ (2) : Indicator, (3) : Sensor Outside rearview mirror Be sure to adjust mirror angles 
before driving. 
Your vehicle is equipped with both 
left-hand and right-hand outside
rearview mirrors. The mirrors can beadjusted remotely with the remote
switch. The mirror heads can be fold-
ed back to prevent damage during an
automatic car wash or when passing
in a narrow street.
CAUTION
When cleaning the mirror, use a
paper towel or similar materialdampened with glass cleaner. Do not spray glass cleanerdirectly on the mirror as thatmay cause the liquid cleaner to enter the mirror housing.
WARNING -  Rearview 
mirrors
 The outside rearview mirror is convex. Objects seen in the 
mirror are closer than they
appear.
 Use your interior rearview mirror or direct observation todetermine the actual distance
of following vehicles when
changing lanes.

Remote control
The electric remote control mirror 
switch allows you to adjust the posi-
tion of the left and right outside
rearview mirrors.
CAUTION
Do not scrape ice off the mirror
face; this may damage the sur-face of the glass. If ice should restrict movement of the mirror,do not force the mirror foradjustment. To remove ice, use a deicer spray, or a sponge orsoft cloth with very warm water.
CAUTION
If the mirror is jammed with ice,do not adjust the mirror by force.Use an approved spray de-icer (not radiator antifreeze) torelease the frozen mechanism ormove the vehicle to a warm place and allow the ice to melt.
WARNING 
Do not adjust or fold the outside 
rearview mirrors whilst the vehi-
cle is moving. This could result in
loss of control, and an accident
which could cause death, seri-
ous injury or property damage.

To adjust the position of either mirror, 
move the lever (1) to R (Right) or L
(Left) to select the right side mirror or
the left side mirror, then press a cor-responding point on the mirroradjustment control to position the
selected mirror up, down, left or right. 
After adjustment, put the lever into 
neutral (centre) position to prevent
inadvertent adjustment.Folding the outside rearview mirror
Manual type 
To fold outside rearview mirror, grasp 
the housing of mirror and then fold it
toward the rear of the vehicle.Electric type  
The outside rearview mirror can be 
folded or unfolded by pressing the
switch as below. Right (1): The mirror will unfold.
Left (2) : The mirror will fold.
CAUTION
 The mirrors stop moving when
they reach the maximumadjusting angles, but themotor continues to operatewhilst the switch is pressed. Do not press the switch longerthan necessary, the motormay be damaged.
 Do not attempt to adjust the outside rearview mirror byhand. Doing so may damagethe parts.ORP046029R
