Roof rack (if equipped)
If the vehicle has a roof rack, you can
load cargo on top of your vehicle. Crossbars and fixing components
needed to install the roof rack on
your vehicle may be obtained from
an authorised Kia dealer/service
partner or other qualified shop.
✽✽ NOTICE
The crossbars (if equipped) should be placed in the proper load carry-
ing positions prior to placing items
onto the roof rack.
If the vehicle is equipped with a sunroof, be sure not to position
cargo onto the roof rack in such a
way that it
could interfere with sun-
roof operation.
When the roof rack is not being used to carry cargo, the crossbars
may need to be repositioned if wind
noise is detected.

CAUTION
When carrying cargo on the
roof rack, take the necessaryprecautions to make sure the cargo does not damage theroof of the vehicle.
When carrying large objects on the roof rack, make surethey do not exceed the overall roof length or width.
When you are carrying cargo on the roof rack, do not operatethe sunroof (if equipped).

WARNING
The following specification is the maximum weight that can
be loaded onto the roof rack.
Distribute the load as evenly as
possible across the crossbars
(if equipped) and roof rack and
secure the load firmly.
Loading cargo or luggage in
excess of the specified weight
limit on the roof rack may
damage your vehicle.
The vehicle centre of gravity will be higher when items are
loaded onto the roof rack.
Avoid sudden starts, braking,
sharp turns, abrupt manoeu-
vres or high speeds that may
result in loss of vehicle con-
trol or rollover resulting in anaccident.

RACK EVENLY DISTRIBUTED
(Continued)
Always drive slowly and turn
corners carefully when carry-
ing items on the roof rack.
Severe wind updrafts, caused
by passing vehicles or natural
causes, can cause sudden
upward pressure on items
loaded on the roof rack. This
is especially true when carry-
ing large, flat items such as
wood panels or mattresses. This could cause the items to
fall off the roof rack and cause
damage to your vehicle or
others around you.
To prevent damage or loss of cargo whilst driving, check
frequently before or whilstdriving to make sure the items
on the roof rack are securelyfastened.

electronic device may malfunction.Antenna
Pole type antenna (if equipped)
Your car uses a roof antenna to
receive both AM and FM broadcast
signals. This antenna is a removable
type. To remove the antenna, turn it
counterclockwise. To install the
antenna, turn it clockwise.
Shark fin antenna (if equipped)
The shark fin antenna will receive the
transmit data.

• Before entering a place with a low height clearance or a carwash, remove the antenna by rotating it counterclockwise. Ifnot, the antenna may be dam-aged.
When reinstalling your anten- na, it is important that it isfully tightened and adjusted tothe upright position to ensureproper reception. But it could be removed when parking thevehicle or when loading cargoon the roof rack.
When cargo is loaded on the roof rack, do not place thecargo near the antenna pole toensure proper reception.

How vehicle audio works
AM and FM radio signals are broad-
cast from transmitter towers located
around your city. They are intercept-
ed by the radio antenna on your vehi-
cle. This signal is then received by
the radio and sent to your vehicle
speakers.
When a strong radio signal has
reached your vehicle, the precise
engineering of your audio system
ensures the best possible quality
reproduction. However, in some
cases the signal coming to your vehi-
cle may not be strong and clear. This can be due to factors, such as
the distance from the radio station,
closeness of other strong radio sta-
tions or the presence of buildings,
bridges or other large obstructions inthe area.
AM broadcasts can be received at
greater distances than FM broad-
casts. This is because AM radio
waves are transmitted at low fre-
quencies. These long, low frequency
radio waves can follow the curvature
of the earth rather than travelling
straight out into the atmosphere. In
addition, they curve around obstruc-
tions so that they can provide better
signal coverage.

Audio system
FM broadcasts are transmitted at high frequencies and do not bend to
follow the earth's surface. Because
of this, FM broadcasts generally
begin to fade at short distances from
the station. Also, FM signals are eas-
ily affected by buildings, mountains,
or other obstructions. These can
result in certain listening conditions
which might lead you to believe a
problem exists with your radio. The
following conditions are normal and
do not indicate radio trouble: Fading - As your vehicle moves
away from the radio station, the
signal will weaken and sound will
begin to fade. When this occurs,
we suggest that you select anotherstronger station.
Flutter/Static - Weak FM signals or large obstructions between the
transmitter and your radio can dis-turb the signal causing static or
fluttering noises to occur. Reducing
the treble level may lessen this
effect until the disturbance clears. Station Swapping - As a FM signal
weakens, another more powerfulsignal near the same frequency
may begin to play. This is because
your radio is designed to lock onto
the clearest signal. If this occurs, select another station with astronger signal.
Multi-Path Cancellation - Radio signals being received from sever-
al directions can cause distortion
or fluttering. This can be caused bya direct and reflected signal from
the same station, or by signals
from two stations with close fre-
quencies. If this occurs, selectanother station until the conditionhas passed.

Using a mobile phone or a two-
way radio
When a mobile phone is used inside
the vehicle, noise may be produced
from the audio system. This does notmean that something is wrong with
the audio equipment. In such a case, use the mobile phone at a place as
far as possible from the audio equip-ment. Caring for disc
If the temperature inside the car is
too high, open the car windows to
ventilate before using the system.
It is illegal to copy and use MP3/WMA files without permis-
sion. Use CDs that are created
only by lawful means.
Do not apply volatile agents, such as benzene and thinner, normal
cleaners and magnetic sprays
made for analogue disc onto CDs.
To prevent the disc surface from getting damaged, hold CDs by the
edges or the centre hole only.
Clean the disc surface with a piece of soft cloth before playback (wipeit from the centre to the outsideedge).
Do not damage the disc surface or attach pieces of sticky tape or
paper.
Make certain only CDs are insert- ed into the CD player (Do not insertmore than one CD at a time).
Keep CDs in their cases after use to protect them from scratches or
dirt.
CAUTION
When using a communication
system such as a mobile phoneor a radio set inside the vehicle, a separate external antennamust be fitted. When a mobilephone or a radio set is used with an internal antenna alone,it may interfere with the vehi-cle's electrical system andadversely affect safe operation of the vehicle.
WARNING
Do not use a mobile phone
whilst driving. Stop at a safe
location to use a mobile phone.

Audio system
Depending on the type of CD-R/CD-RW CDs, certain CDs may
not operate normally according to
manufacturing companies or mak-
ing and recording methods. In such
circumstances, continued use may
cause malfunctions to your audiosystem.
✽✽ NOTICE - Playing an
Incompatible Copy
Protected Audio CD
Some copy protected CDs, which do
not comply with international audio
CD standards (Red Book), may not
play on your car audio. Please note
that inabilities to properly play a
copy protected CD may indicate
that the CD is defective, not the CD
player.
NOTE:
Order of playing files (folders) :
1. Song playing order : to sequentially.
2. Folder playing order :❋ If no song file is contained in
the folder, that folder is not dis-
played.
