Kia Hybrid-Electric Vehicle (HEV)
uses a gasoline engine and an
electric motor for power. The elec-
tric motor is powered by a 270V
high voltage HEV battery.
The HEV computer decides when
to use the engine and when to use
electric motor, according to driv-
ing conditions. At times, both are
used simultaneously.
By turning off the engine under
certain conditions and using the
electric motor alone, the HEV sys-
tem saves fuel.
When the HEV battery reaches a
low state of charge, the engine will
cycle on and off to recharge the
battery. Charging also occurs
when decelerating by using
regenerative braking.Hybrid System Display
Many of the displays provide infor-
mation about the hybrid system,
such as the ECO Level and ECO
Score.
The ECO Level displays inform the
driver of the vehicle's fuel efficiency.
If the vehicle is driven economically,
the ECO Level rises. When the vehi-
cle is driven in EV mode, there is a
reduction in carbon dioxide (CO2)
emissions.
The Total ECO Score display indi-
cates the number of times the ECO
Level has reached its maximum.ECO Level display
When the vehicle is started, the ECO
Level display will indicate level 4. If
you drive economically, the ECO
Level will increase. However, if you
do not drive economically, the ECO
Level will decrease.

Push the control switch forward or
backward to move the seat to the
desired position. Release the switch
once the seat reaches the desired
position.
Seatback angle
Push the control switch forward or
backward to move the seatback to
the desired angle. Release the
switch once the seat reaches the
desired position.
CAUTION
The power seat is driven by anelectric motor. Stop operatingonce the adjustment is com-pleted. Excessive operationmay damage the electricalequipment.
When in operation, the power seat consumes a large amountof electrical power. To preventunnecessary charging systemdrain, don’t adjust the powerseat longer than necessarywhile the engine is not running.
Do not operate two or more power seat control switches atthe same time. Doing so mayresult in power seat motor orelectrical component malfunc-tion.

Check charging system
This warning illuminates when a mal-
function is detected with the Charging
System.
✽ ✽NOTICE
When the high voltage battery
power is low, the warning may
occur. In that time, the warning may
disappear when the battery is
charged by engine.
Check active air flap system
This warning will be illuminated as
follow;
- When the actuator flap malfunction
is detected
- When the actuator air flap con- troller malfunction detected
- In a condition opening the air flap, if the air flap is not open.
When the all conditions illuminating
the warning are cleared, the warning
will be off.
✽ ✽ NOTICE
In winter, the warning may not illu-
minate immediately.
The active air flap system is even
normal condition, the warning or
warning indicator(MIL) may be
turned on. In that time, check the
flap frozen condition or attached
materials.
If the flap is frozen in winter, the
warning indicator(MIL) may be
turned on without warning contents.

Charging System
Warning Light
This warning light illuminates:
Once you set the ignition switch or Engine Start/Stop Button to the ON
position.
- It remains on until the engine isstarted.
When there is a malfunction with either the alternator or electrical
charging system.
If there is a malfunction with either
the alternator or electrical charging
system:
1. Drive carefully to the nearest safe location and stop your vehicle.
2. Turn the engine off and check the alternator drive belt for looseness
or breakage.
If the belt is adjusted properly,
there may be a problem in the
electrical charging system.
In this case, have your vehicle
inspected by an authorized Kia
dealer as soon as possible.
Engine Coolant Temperature WarningLight (if equipped)
This warning light illuminates:
When the engine coolant tempera- ture is above 120°C (248°F). This
means that the engine is overheat-
ed and may be damaged.
If your vehicle is overheated, refer
to "Overheating" in chapter 6.
Engine Oil Pressure
Warning Light
This warning light illuminates:
Once you set the ignition switch or Engine Start/Stop Button to the ON
position.
- It remains on until the engine isstarted.
When the engine oil pressure is low.
If the engine oil pressure is low:
1. Drive carefully to the nearest safe location and stop your vehicle.
2. Turn the engine off and check the engine oil level (For more details,
refer to "Engine Oil" in section 7). If
the level is low, add oil as required.
If the warning light remains on
after adding oil or if oil is not avail-
able, have your vehicle inspected
by an authorized Kia dealer as
soon as possible.
CAUTION- Engine Overheating
Do not drive the vehicle whenthe Engine Coolant TemperatureWarning Light is illuminated orthe engine is overheated.Continuing to drive the vehiclewhile it is overheated may dam-age the engine.

Some USB flash memory read-ers (such as CF, SD, micro SD,
etc.) or external-HDD type
devices can be unrecognizable.
Music files protected by DRM (DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGE-
MENT) are not recognizable.
The data in the USB memory may be lost while using this
audio. Always back up important
data on a personal storage
device.
Please avoid using USB memory prod-
ucts which can be
used as key chains or
cellular phone acces-
sories as they could cause dam-
age to the USB jack. Please
make certain only to use plug
type connector products.(Continued)
If you use devices such as a USBhub purchased separately, the
vehicle’s audio system may not
recognize the USB device. In that
case, connect the USB device
directly to the multimedia terminal
of the vehicle.
If the USB device is divided by log- ical drives, only the music files on
the highest-priority drive are rec-
ognized by car audio.
Devices such as MP3 Player/ Cellular phone/Digital camera can
be unrecognizable by standard
USB I/F can be unrecognizable.

BATTERY
For best battery service
Keep the battery securely mount-
ed.
Keep the battery top clean and dry.
Keep the terminals and connec- tions clean, tight, and coated with
petroleum jelly or terminal grease.
Rinse any spilled electrolyte from the battery immediately with a
solution of water and baking soda.
If the vehicle is not going to be used for an extended time, discon-
nect the battery cables.
WARNING - Risk of
explosion
Keep Lit cigarettes and all other flames or
sparks away from the
battery.
The battery contains hydrogen -- a highly
combustible gas, which
will explode if it comes
in contact with a flame or
spark.WARNING - Sulfuric acid
in batteries
Keep batteries out of the reach of children
because batteries con-
tain highly corrosive
SULFURIC ACID and
electrolytes. Do not
allow battery acid to
contact your skin, eyes,
clothing or paint finish.
Wear eye protection when charging or work-
ing near a battery.
Always provide ventila-
tion when working in an
enclosed space.

Maintenance
Always read the following
instructions carefully when
handling a battery.
If any electrolyte gets into your eyes, flush your eyes
with clean water for at least
15 minutes and get immedi-
ate medical attention.
If electrolyte gets on your
skin, thoroughly wash the
contacted area. If you feel
pain or burning sensation,
get medical attention imme-
diately.
An inappropriately disposed battery can be harmful to the
environment and human
health. Dispose the battery
according to your local law(s)
or regulation.
The battery contains lead. Do
not dispose of it after use.
Please return the battery to
an authorized Kia dealer to
be recycled. When you don’t use the vehicle for a
long time in the low temperature
area, separate the battery and keep
it indoors.
WARNING - Recharging
battery
Never attempt to recharge the
battery when the battery cables
are connected.WARNING - Risk of elec-
trocution
Never touch the electrical igni-
tion system while the vehicle is
running. This system works
with high voltage which can
"zap" you.
